Learning English lexicology holds significant importance in various aspects. It

aids in comprehending diverse thinking patterns, which has been a pivotal
aspect of my learning during these 7 weeks. The insights gained in modern
English lexicology will serve as a valuable resource in my future role as an
English teacher. These newly acquired insights encompass methods and tools
for word study, encompassing dictionaries, corpora (text collections), and
linguistic databases. Our practical sessions delved deeply into topics like
Corpus and Corpora, Methodological concepts, Teaching aids, Teaching
materials, and Teaching methods. We revisited the Traditional and
Contemporary methods, specifically examining their advantages and
disadvantages in foreign language learning, notably under the umbrella of
Constructivism.

Our explorations extended to word formation processes, semantic word

relationships, and the societal influences impacting language use. Initially, some
topics like Corpus and Corpora posed challenges in understanding, but
collaborative group discussions facilitated comprehension, allowing for
knowledge exchange and mutual understanding among peers.

In essence, our seminar lessons provided profound insights into language's

nature and the pivotal role words play in human communication. This field of
study holds immense significance for linguists, language teachers, translators,
and those interested in unraveling the complexities of language. Particularly, our
discussions emphasized various foreign language teaching methods,
highlighting the utility of paying attention, gaining experience, and receiving
guidance.

In recent times, the quest for new teaching methods has preoccupied many
language instructors. Some advocate for analyzing existing methods and
technologies, adapting them to modern needs, while others advocate preserving
traditional approaches or entirely revamping the system.

As a prospective language instructor, I lean toward integrating both old and new
methods. Combining analysis and assimilation of new information about
teaching methodologies seems to be the most effective and comprehensive
approach for substantial progress. This comprehensive understanding of
lexicology forms a crucial backbone in shaping effective language teaching
practices.
