Managing file indexing

Enable or disable file indexing for EC2 instances or EBS volumes in an AWS account with an Exocompute configuration.

About this task

File recovery is supported in regions where Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) is supported by AWS.
For any protected EC2 instances or EBS volumes, RSC can be configured to index all snapshots. The files can be recovered without waiting for the indexing to
complete.

While indexing snapshots for an EC2 instance, RSC excludes the EBS Volumes with marketplace tag from the indexing job. Indexing requires you to launch an
EKS cluster in your environment and attach the disk created by the snapshot to the EKS node. Marketplace volumes can only be attached to an instance in a
powered-off mode and cannot be attached to the running EKS worker nodes.

Procedure
1. Log in to RSC.
2. On the navigation bar, click Inventory.
The Inventory page appears.
3. Click on the AWS - EC2 & Applications inventory card.
The AWS - EC2 page appears.
4. Click on the tab corresponding to the protected object.
EC2 Instances (selected by default)
EBS Volumes
Objects of the selected type appear.
5. Select a protected object.
