A Dragon’s Life
According to legend, there are 5 stages in a dragon’s life.

1: The Egg

The mummy dragon lays an egg. Her baby grows inside

it. The baby dragon is tiny! The dragon stays in the egg
while it grows. The dragon can’t come out until it is big
enough. When it is big enough, it’s time to hatch. The
baby dragon nibbles the shell. The dragon breaks the shell
open. It has hatched!

2. Baby Dragon

The new baby dragon is small. It is weak. The big dragons

need to look after it. The baby can fly after a day or
two. Then it can start to look after itself.

3. Adult Dragon

The dragon grows bigger and bigger. It becomes an adult.

It is fully grown. Adult dragons can be scary. They like to
fight other dragons. They battle. They hoard treasure.

4. Ancient Dragon

The adult dragon becomes old. It is wise and ancient.

The old dragon is very strong and powerful. The old
dragon hibernates a lot.

5. Twilight

The old dragon enters twilight. This is the last stage for
the dragon. The dragon grows weaker. The dragon is very
sleepy.

Stories say that dragons can live to be thousands of

years old! When they die, they go to the dragon graveyard.
Dragon graveyards are secret places. They are not shown
on maps. They are believed to be on mountaintops. They
believed to be hidden in valleys. Only flying creatures can
reach them.
