RATED VOLTAGE: The rated voltage of the AB cables shall be 1.1 KV. 3. APPLICABLE STANDARDS: Unless otherwise stipulated in this specification, the following Standards shall be applicable. i) 1S —14255/1995: LT AB cables 1.1 kV. ii) 18 8130/2013: Conductors for insulated cables. iil) 1-398 (Part IV)/1994: Aluminium alloy conductor. iv) 1S - 10418/1982: Drums for electric cables 4, GENERAL: ‘The AB cable covered under this specification should be suitable for use on three phase, 4 wire earthed system for working voltage up to 1.1 KV. It should confirm the relevant standards stated above and others if applicable. The phase conductor shall be 16 mm?, 25 mm2, 50 mm®, 95 mm? and 120 mm* XLPE insulated, the street light conductor shall be 16 mm? XLPE insulated and the bare messenger-cum-neutral conductor shall be of sizes 25 mm?, 36 mm? and 70 mm? 5. PHASE CONDUCTORS: i) The conductor shall be of H2 or HA grade Aluminium complying with the requirement of 18:8130-2013, ii) Not more than two joints shall be allowed in any of the wires forming every complete length of conductor and no joint shall be within 300 mm of any other joint in the same layer. The joint shall be brazed silver soldered or electric or gas welded. The bare messenger shall be either compacted circular or stranded circular and shall have smooth round surface to avoid damages to the overall insulation of phase & street light conductor twisted around the messenger. The messenger conductor shall be bare heat treated Aluminium-Magnesium-Silicon alloy wires containing approximately 0.5% Magnesium and approximately 0.5% Silicon confirming to 1S: 398 (Part-1V):1979 and its latest amendment, if any. There shall be no joint in any wire of the stranded messenger conductor except those made in the base rod or wires before final drawing. The colour of XLPE insulation shall be black. The insulation shall be so applied that it fits closely on the conductor and it shall be possible to remove it without damaging the insulation. ‘The thickness of the insulation and its tolerance shall be as per IS: 14255-1995 with its amendments. ‘The XLPE insulation compound shall be conforming to requirement given in Table 3 and also conforms to IS-14255. High Voltage Test Optional Test: Bending test on the completed cable: Bending test shall be performed on a sample of complete cable. The sample shall be bent around a test mandrel at room temperature for at least one complete tur. It shall then be unwound and the process shall be repeated after tuning the sample around its axis 180°. The cycle of this operation shall be then repeated twice. ‘The diameter of mandrel shall be 10 * (D+d).. Where, D = Actual diameter of cable (i.e. the min. circumscribing diameter in mm) d= Actual diameter of the phase conduetor in mm. ACCEPTANCE TESTS: The following shall constitute acceptance tests: a) Tensile test (for Phase / Street light conductor) b) Wrapping test (for Phase / Streetlight conductor) ©) Breaking load test for messenger conductor d) Elongation test for messenger conductor e) Conductor Resistance test ) Test for thickness of insulation g) Tensile strength and elongation at break test hh) Hot set test for XLPE insulation i) Insulation Resistance test j) High voltage test 13. Routine Tests The following shall constitute acceptance tests: a) Conductor resistance test b) High voltage test ‘Allroutine and acceptance tests shall be carried out as per relevant IS in the presence of Nigam's representative. 44, MEASUREMENT OF WEIGHTS OF VARIOUS COMPONENTS OF CABLE The Inspecting Officers shall measure the weight of various components of cable from a length of 1 meter of cable from each sample and record the same in the Inspection Report. 15, AGEING TEST ‘The ageing test shall be carried out from the first lot on the sample sealed by the PRT committee & sent to any NABL accredited testing lab for its testing. However, Nigam reserves its right to send sample for aging test from subsequent lots. 16. SAMPLING PLAN Samples shall be taken and tested from each let for ascertaining the conformity of the lot to the requirements of the specification as per IS:14255-1995 along with its amendments. 47. CHECK MEASUREMENT OF CABLE LENGTH “The manufacturer will provide necessary arrangement for checking of length at his own cost as per sampling plan at the time of inspection. Out of the total quantity of drums offered for inspection, in no case, less than two drums shall be selected for verification of length. If any of the drums is found shor in length than the length specified, the whole of the lot shal be rejected 48. CABLE IDENTIFICATION Cables with cross-linked polyethylene insulation shall be identified throughout the length of the cable by the legend ‘XLPE 90’ and year of manufacture by a printed tape. “PROPERTY OF UHBVN / DHBVN” along with brand name, manufacture name, voltage rating, aq @feror Bftaron fBrorér fbrerqor fererar : UTTAR DAKSHIN HARYANA BLILI VITRAN NIGAM BVN size, [SI mark and year of manufacture in English shall be embossed on the outer sheath of the cable at regular intervals of approximately 1 to 1.5 meter. Ifthe material is received at site without ISI marking, then the complete lot shall be rejected. 49. PACKING MARKING: The LT XLPE AB cable shall be wound in nonreturnable drums conforming to 1S-10418/1982 “Specification for Reels and Drums for bare wire" of the latest version thereof, The drums shall be marked with the following a) Reference to Indian Standard IS 14255; b) Manufacturer's name or Trade-mark, c) Type of cable and voltage grade; d) Nominal cross-sectional area of phase conductor, e) Sr. No. of Drum & Length of cable on the dru f) Number of lengths on the drum (if more than one); 4) Direction of rotation of drum (by means of an arrow); h) Gross mass; i) Net mass of Cable. ‘The drums shall be of such a construction as to assure delivery of conductor in field free from displacement and damage and should be able to withstand all stresses due to handling and the stringing operation so that cable surface not dented, scratched or damaged in any way during transport and erection. STANDARD LENGTH: ‘The standard length of drum shall be as under: Cable size upto & including 3Cx50 mm? + 35mm? + 1 x 16 mm? 41000 m Cable size above 30x50 mm? + 35mm? + 1 x 16 mm? 500 m [tolerance of + 5 % is permissible on the quantities allotted to each consignee with overall 2% tolerance on the ordered quantity for the purpose of completion of order. ‘Non-standard Lenath: Nonstandard length not less than 50% ofthe standard length shall be accepted to the extent of 410% of the ordered quantity 21. INSPECTION: Authorized representatives of the Nigam shall inspect, examine and test the equipment/ material in respect of quality size and ratings as per ISS/EC mentioned above at the manufacturers works after the manufacture of goods prior to dispatch on receipt ofa clear notice of minimum two weeks in advance to be reckoned from the date of receipt of the same by the purchaser. No material will be allowed to be dispatched without prior inspection and approval. The inspecting officers of the purchaser may also inspect the material during the course of manufacture. It will be the responsibility of the supplier to make adequate arrangements for testing of material at thelr works without any additional charges to the purchaser. All testing instruction and apparatus will be made available and material destroyed / consumed during testing will be to the account of the supplier. 22. TYPE TEST CERTIFICATES: ‘The duly attested copy of Type Test Certificate ofthe offered sizes of XLPE AB cable, as per IS: 14255/1995 with latest amendmenU/revision be submited from any Govt. laboratory or from a NABL accredited laboratory along with the offer. Type Test Certificate shall not be more than Five Years Old from date of supply. However, ifthe same are not available with the firm at the time of bidding, the firm shall submit an undertaking that the requisite type test certificates shall be submitted within 45 days from the date of issuance of Rate Contract. 23, SUBMISSION OF ISI LICENSE FOR IS:14255-1995 ‘The Manufacturer are required to submit duly attested photo copy of the valid ISI License up to the date of delivery for supply of the LT AB cables at the time of submission of the offer and they should also submit GTP failing which, the offer would be ignored. 24, IMPORTANT: In absence of valid ISI License/GTP duly filed in/and copy of type test certificate of Govt approved Laboratory, duly attested by authorized person, offer will be liable to be ignored without any further correspondence. 25.
