INSTRUCTION MANUAL
ULS-2000 Instruction Manual
Table Of Contents
The ULS-2000 UNIVERSAL LAB STATION is an ideal teaching aid for all types of electronic circuits. There are
variety of functional input and output circuits (see Features) which can be used to stimulate or measure electrical signals
from the circuit under test or development. These circuit functions allow for the testing of circuits without the need for
many expensive individual pieces of equipment.
SECTION 2: FEATURES
Inspect the ULS-2000 for any signs of damage. Make sure that the power cord is for your voltage 240 VAC.
Allowable input voltages are as follows:
CAUTION
Should the ULS-2000 UNIVERSAL LAB STATION fail to operate after applying AC power check the fuse
located on the back panel. Replace with the same type and style fuse of 3A, 240V or equal specifications.
WARNING
READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS MANUAL BEFORE
USING THE INSTRUMENT.
Failure to understand and comply with the WARNINGS
and operating instructions can result in serious or fatal
injuries and/or property damage
It is recommended that during the first operation of the ULS-2000 the Pre-Operation checks are performed as per
section 3. These checks will help to verify the proper operation of the ULS-2000 UNIVERSAL LAB STATION. These
checks can also be made at any time in the future as a partial performance test.

10 Data Switches Provides 16 sets of data switching of "+5V" and "0V" outputs
The following section covers the above four topics grouped for each function. The pre-operation procedures,
when provided are to verify that functional circuits are operating and to help gain familiarity with the equipment features.
Refer to section 4 for all ULS-2000 controls, indicators and functions when performing the pre-operation checks.
Figure 1
The main power switch controls the power source for the whole trainer. The trainer will only get the power source
when the power switch has been turned on, and the light on the switch is on.

Specifications:
Output Voltage: +0V to +25V, -0V to -25V
Output Current: 0.5A max
Operation:
The two independent variable power supply outputs are connected between the "+V and GND" and also
the "-V and GND". Each output is controlled individually by the "+V" and "-V" controls.
Specifications:
Output Voltage: +5 ± 0.25 Vdc
Output Current: 0.5A max
Specifications:
Output Voltage: -5 ± 0.25 Vdc
Output Current: 0.5A max
Application:
The +5 and -5 power supplies can be used as the source power of logic circuits such as TTL or CMOS.
Specifications:
Output Voltage: +12 ± 0.25 Vdc
Output Current: 0.5A max
Specifications:
Output Voltage: -12 ± 0.25 Vdc
Output Current: 0.5A max
Application:
The +12 and -12 power supplies can be used as the source power of logic circuits such as TTL or CMOS.

Specifications:
Frequency Ranges: 1 Hz to 10 Hz
10 Hz to 100 Hz
100 Hz to 1 kHz
1 kHz to 10 kHz
10 kHz to 100 kHz
100 kHz to 500 kHz
The output frequency is continuously variable between these ranges by adjusting the variable frequency control
knob.
The amplitude is variable for the sine wave, triangle and square wave by adjusting the amplitude control knob.

Pre-Operation Check:
The output of the function generator can be observed by using an oscilloscope. Connect the outputs to the
oscilloscope being certain to connect GND to GND between the Oscilloscope and ULS-2000. The GND on the
ULS-2000 is common with the AC Power ground connection. Most oscilloscopes also have their input ground pin
common with the AC power ground of the oscilloscope. Please make sure that the grounds are connected properly.
Application:
The function generator can be used to generate input stimuli waveforms for all types of digital and analog circuits.
It should be noted however that for triggering TTL and compatible gates the negative portion of the square wave
should be removed. This can be accomplished by using a comparator or clipping circuit.
Figure 5
Specifications:
Outputs: 0 or +5V (TTL) / +12V (CMOS) Break before make switches
Pre-Operation Check:
1. Connect the "0" Data switch to the DMM input.
2. Connect the GND to the DMM input.
3. Turn the selector switch to TTL output (+5V)
4. Set the "0" Data Switch to the "0" position and verify that the DMM reads approximately 0 volts.
5. Set the "0" Data Switch to the "1” position and verify that the DMM reads approximately +5 volts.
6. Repeat steps 1 - 4 for "1 “through "15" Data Switches.
7. Turn the selector switch to CMOS output (+12V)
8. Set the "0" Data Switch to the "0" position and verify that the DMM reads approximately 0 volts.
9. Set the "0" Data Switch to the "1” position and verify that the DMM reads approximately +12
volts.
10. Repeat steps 1 - 4 for "1 “through "15" Data Switches.
Applications:
The Data Switches "0" - "15" provide a logic high (+5V) / CMOS (+12V) or low (0 V) output which are
short circuit current limit protected. These switches are placed in an open circuit state condition when the
switch is activated. These switches can be used independently to provide a 1 or 0 logic state, or they can
be used together to represent an 8 bit byte, BCD or other coded input. And it’s also can be use to provide
CMOS outputs.

Specification:
1. Consist of two 19VAC, two 15VAC outputs.
Operation:
Connect one of the outputs to one of the 19V/15V point and another output to one of the point 0.
Figure 18
The 4mm adaptor consists of five sockets (4mm size) where the outputs for each sockets connected directly to
2mm brass pin to 4 numbers of turn pin.
Maintenance consists of fuse replacement, calibration adjustment procedures, and periodic cleaning. Performing the
calibration and adjustment procedures only by Authorized Service Engineer, otherwise the warranty will void.
CAUTION
The following procedures should only be performed by persons trained and qualified in electronics and
electronic equipment service. Do not attempt these procedures if not qualified.
4) Replace with the same type and style fuse of 3A, 250V or equal specifications.
6-2 : Cleaning
The ULS-2000 can be cleaned with a dry, soft cloth to remove any oil, grease, or grime from the equipment.
Never use liquid solvents or detergents. If the equipment got wet for any reason, dry using low pressure air (less
than 25 PSI). Use care and caution around areas where water or air could enter the interior of the equipment while
drying.
