“A Love that Leads to Serve”

(JOHN 21:15-19)

“15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do
you love me more than these?”

“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”

16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”

17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said,
“Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. 18 Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed
yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your
hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19
Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he
said to him, “Follow me!”

A lot of people celebrate Love in the Month of February…Flowers dito flowers duon,

lang, tamang kain lang, an iba naman pina kilig lang pero pinaasa la ngayan..aghhh ka
shashakit hito nohh pinakilig kala ni Feb.

Some people now a days specially ha mga youth are very curious with it comes Love
without knowing its true meaning. Nag I love you lang sayo kinilig kana agad, naging
kayo na agad…...ehh kuya Gwapo kasi hahaha ngan may Motor ngan my BIBLE liwat ha
UBox may Ministry liwat….pwedi naba ito church??????

Deri pa….kailangan pa ito I test na Love kay bangin romantic Love la ito, specially han
word “Lab na lab ko ikaw mahal” or “mahal na mahal kit lab”…diba inulits hiya, deri
ungod pag pa uli-uli. Ex. Balay2x, tawo2x, Uyab2x.
So yana kikitaun ta kun anun atun dapat hinmuon or what would be our response when
it comes Loving specially ngada kan Lord…

Sense tapos naman kita pakiliga han atun mga guest speaker han atun events, tonight
kita naman an papakiligun ni Lord…..So let me introduce to you our theme for tonight in
titled “A Love that leads to serve”…….

VERSE….

To give you a short background about this chapter…..this was the third time were Jesus
appeared to His disciples after He was raised from the dead, and we all know that this
scenario is… Peter was back from his old life which is fishing including the two other
disciple.
“So they went out and got into the boat for fishing, but that night they caught nothing.”
Until Jesus came and intervein their fishing, and they caught some of fish. And Jesus
invited them to have a breakfast with Him.

After that, confrontation come…………

We all know that Peter here was still guilty of denying Jesus in three times. The guilt is
still there, feeling unworthy still there, an ka awod ada la gihap.

But Jesus confront him.

Tonight…we have a TWO LOVE LANGUAGE OF JESUS this chapter na kailangan ta ma

 CARE HOW JESUS CARES

- He previous nga verses all night hira wary makadakop isda and then Jesus went
there early in the morning just to provide them a fish kay imagine ka all night hira
wary na dakop na isda…until Jesus come and allow them to witness another
miracle (“large number of fish”)
- Maram hi Lord kun gaanu hira ginulan pag pinan isda that’s why He also provide
them a Food.

15 When they had finished eating:

- We don’t know what conversation they had before nag ask hi Lord kan
Peter….Siguro nagkumustahay hira, or siguro nag sharing hira about han ira
journey together. Deri kita maram….What amazing is iba an response ni Lord kn
Peter, ciguro kun kita adto bangin masiring kita, “Hoy Peter kay anu ka aadi, or
 deri hiya api han food nga imu gn prepare” Haha husay ma attitude. (Ex. Ate Bibi
gn pinauli)

- Pero amazing hi Lord, the way He care is, He understand that they are not
perfect….yes they failed but the Faith is still there ngan maaram hi Lord kun anun
klasin Love na mayda an mga disciples ha iya.

 How God deals with our failure and mistakes?

- Probation - (Fish) – Ng dahil sa fish bumalik si Peter sa dati hiyang buhay and
Same as the fish that will caught Peter’s attention to recognize Jesus. – verse 7
- (7 Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as
Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around
him and jumped into the water.)

- Jesus reinstates Peter, and Peter restored that Moment (God always find a way
just to restore us, Ibabalik na ibabalik ka ni Lord kung anung mayron kayo noon)

- We will also “Go back the place where we left God.” – Simon Abundo

- Peter denied Jesus publicly, Jesus also confront Peter publicly, sometimes
restoration comes from bringing yourself to your fellow believers, pag bumabalik
ka sa Cell Group, sa Church, pro ang nang yayari is nlalayo natin ang sarili nating
sa church, sa family. Alam niyo ang isang sicreto para hindi ka mapalayo kay
Lord??...ALWAYS CONNECT TO CHURCH, connect to the VINE, Church is not
design para han mga mag dasig kundi para han mga Lost nga need han direction
ngan salvation. Kay..

GOD’S LOVE ALWAYS ACCEPT

- No matter how we sinned, no matter what kind of sin we committed, God’s love
always accepts us. (Although Peter denies Jesus, he still have the courage to face
Jesus because he knows what kind of love Jesus is…)

- "Some Christians find it difficult to come back to the Lord because they measure
love by their own standards, not by God's standards."

- That’s why Jesus asked Peter…….

Verse 15 - “SIMON SON OF JOHN DO YOU LOVE ME MORE THAN THESE?”

- Jesus addressed the leader among the disciples as Simon, not as Peter. Sense gn
balik ni Lord kun paanu na meet ni Peter hi Jesus, gn balik liwat niya kun hinu hi
Peter before…..(Ex. Charise or Ate: Charise anak ni Wilma…) (Tabogok: nababalik
 ako nag n lihi a khan tabugok) mas maupay ada it gn lilihi ha imu hi Lord, pro
paanu?? Gin kikinaun mo an BIBILE?? Hahaha
- Ansya ito hi Lord always ka niya gn babalik to remind you nga anu ba an imu life
before na waray kapa Jesus ha imu life ngan an yana nga may Jesus kana

DO YOU LOVE ME?”

- Before he denied Jesus three times Peter claimed to love Jesus more than the
other disciples did (Matthew 26:33). Now Jesus wanted to know if Peter still had a
proud estimation of his love and devotion to Jesus.

- Makaarawod na ito pag yakan na lab ko ikaw kun maram ka may sala ka ha iya….
- Jesus asked Peter not so that He would know – He already knew, and Peter was
aware that Jesus knew. It was for Peter’s self-examination the questions were
asked. Ganyan kasi si Lord……
- Ibabalik na ibabalik sayo ni Lord ang mga bagay na hindi mupa natututnan
hanggang sa matuto tayo. (Ex. Mama…pa ulit2x nala, na mi memorize muna la an
ira mga words)

HOW DO WE LOVE JESUS MGA BUGTO???

What are “These??”

- It’s maybe Peter was falling in love again with fishing or maybe Peter was
comfortable in having fellowship with his co disciples or kun anun mayda hiya
that moment. The question here is…..What do we Love more than we Love
Jesus?

- Is it we Love our career more than Jesus, is it we love our studies more than Jesus,
we love studying3x..withouth studying the Life of Jesus, or is it we love our
partner more than Jesus mas pinili mupang makipag date kaysa mag church..

WHAT IS THE MORE THAN THESE HA ATUN LIFE???

- Love has a command, Love has certain roles (1 JOHN 5:3 - “3 For this is the love of
God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not
burdensome. 3 Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his
commandments are not burdensome.”) Ex. Pwedi ba ito Love ka niya pero deri ka
niya gusto Makita ngan maka istorya???

- Jesus didn’t say “I LOVE YOU TOO” to Peter, instead He turns Peter’s confession
into mission…

 SERVE HOW JESUS SERVED

“YES, LORD,” HE SAID, “YOU KNOW THAT I LOVE YOU.”
 - Peter answer twice in a very simple answer “Yes Lord, You know that I Love you”
which is “phileo” in Greek word means conditional love or as a friend while Jesus
emphasizing a Love that is unconditional, in Greek word “Agapeo” love. Or
without limit, without expecting in return.

- Peter simply saying this verse that his heart is open to Christ and that Christ
therefore knows that he loves Him with the best love of which he, a sinful human
being, is capable.

- Though Peter is not Perfect yet his Love for Jesus is whole, and Jesus challenge
him to “Feed His Lambs.” Kay maram h Lord na dida mas ma sh shape an Love ni
Peter ha pag Serve.

- God will accept your level of love na myda ka yana ma guti man ito or dako, but
we must grow in our love for God by serving others. An iba ha atun ngadi kun mag
love kan Lord parang Coke….. Mismo, yung wagas mag serve para kay Lord, ito
nga kun iimnon ka ni Lord mapapatugab mo hi Lord. and iba naman parang Coke
Sakto…, yung okay na kahit cell group lang kahit walang Sunday service basta my
pa coke mismo lng si kuya Leader.

- That is why one of the best expressions of Love is Serving, Not just Saying “I Love
You!”
- So instead of saying I Love you…pakisiring imu sapit I will serve you!!!
- That’s why mga Girls pilia niyo an mga boys na nag c serve kan Lord kay yana pala
gn pa practice na nira an pag serve para ha iyo in the future kaya ka nira
sirbihan….hahaha
- Or instead I Love You…..imu ccring is I Coke you, tas imu batun Mismo or Sakto

(17) JESUS ASKS PETER A THIRD TIME: DO YOU LOVE ME?

- Peter was HURT because Jesus asked him the third time…..

- Peter understood the significance of the question being asked the third time. It
was a plain reminder of his previous three-time denial.

- Maciring hi Peter…..baa gn Tutuyo gud tak leader para la ma realize ko. Diba
ansya kita pag paulit-ulit na ngani ma ciring kit ana….Oo na maram na ako, tama
ka mali ako.

- What amazing ngada kan Lord is even we failed Him many times He always given
us a new Opportunity na bumalik ha iya with an open arm.

- “Peter had thrice denied his Lord, and now Christ gives him an opportunity
in some measure to repair his fault by a triple confession.” (Clarke)

- Dapat ansya liwat init atun maging mindset as Christian…na every time we failed
God we serve him more, if we failed again, serve more again and again, because
our Testimony won’t stop by our failure it will stop by the end of our Lives.
 - Na a amaze ako han mga bugto ta na… though nag fail hira once pero kitaa kun
gaanu hira ka strong ngan ka dasig yana. Ngan each on of us here nag fail man kita
kan Lord pero Praise God aadi ka yana…..Paki siring man imu sapit “Praise God
aadi ka yana”

- The reason why your Cell group leader loves you that much...it is because they
practice love by serving others, by serving their members, for what??? Salary?
Fame? NO! It is because they understand what loving truly is…

LORD, YOU KNOW ALL THINGS; YOU KNOW THAT I LOVE YOU:

- Peter did believe that he loved Jesus yet he relied on Jesus’ own knowledge of all
things. Peter understood that Jesus knew him better than he knew himself.

- Jesus didn’t ask Peter, “Are you sorry?” nor “Will you promise never to do that
again?” Instead…Jesus challenged Peter to serve. Para mas grow ngan
maintindihan ni Peter kun anu ba talaga an Love.

- The reason why we not growing because we are not serving, the reason why we
don’t like serving it is because we love other things rather than loving Jesus. If we
ask other people if they Love God, their answers are Yes! But the reality is, they
don’t like serving.

- Gin sugo kala imu Mama pag alog nag dabog kana agad or lumakat kala deri kala
maka alog…Pay nala mga taga SFCA mag sugot specially han atun mga Gen. Serve

- The secret why our parents love us that much it is because they serve us bisan
nakada pala kita han ira tiyan, they keep practicing in serving you while you were
growing, nahibabaro nala hira mga luto bisan deri hira maram mag luto….an iba
deri haha
- The more they are serving you, the more their Love for you grows deeper and
deeper.

- You can tell who is actually loving you by looking at who is serving you.…iba-iba
man an ways han ira pag serve pero ansya ito hira an ungod na nahigugma ha
imu…ngan ansya ito hira an deri mo mangangalimtan. Mangangalimtan mupa
daw an imu utang pero hira deri hahaha Pero deri ada kay daku nan imu utang.

- And those who are matured are the one who loves serving. Kaya gusto ba natun
mag grow?? PAG SERVE NA!!!

 - The role of Love to Jesus is very simple, “Follow me”!

Can we stand mga Bugto???

- Nayakan hi Lord, anak tapos na an imu old Life, tapos na an mga butang nga gn
hihimu mo na ikaw la…Yana ako naman anak, “Follow me”,

- ako naman an pilia yana, ako naman an ig pursue kaysa han imu mga gusto

Where does God putting you in a place where you can serve? Amen!!
