THIS TASK WILL CONSIST OF A PERSUASIVE ESSAY FROM ONE OF THE TWO POSSIBILITIES BELOW.
YOU DO NOT GET TO CHOOSE – YOU WILL BE GIVEN THE ACTUAL QUESTION ON THE DAY OF THE TASK.

THE TWO POSSIBILITIES ARE:

1. Lawson's lack of diversity within his stories results in a limiting portrayal of Australian identity and
culture.

Compose an essay in which you argue FOR or AGAINST this statement. You should refer to THREE of
Lawson’s Short Stories.

2. Lawson’s significance as an author lies in his role in revealing an emerging sense of a uniquely
Australian identity and culture.

Compose an essay in which you argue FOR or AGAINST this statement. You should refer to THREE of
Lawson’s Short Stories.

You will be given 5 minutes reading time and 45 minutes writing time.

The final date for drafts to be submitted to your teacher is Monday 25th March.

All late submissions or missed tasks will require the completion of an Illness/misadventure/special consideration form with appropriate
documentation e.g. medical certificate, note from parent, letter of explanation etc. If you know in advance you will not be able to meet the due
date of the Assessment you must complete an Illness/misadventure/special consideration form prior to the due date. Failure to complete an
Illness/Misadventure/Special consideration form will result in a zero mark.
