Outline / Nature of the task:
descrip on Students are to plan, draft and submit an analytical response focused on the prescribed text ‘The Curious Incident of
the Dog in the Nighttime’ by Mark Haddon. Students are to respond to the following essay question;

How has the composer of your prescribed text used distinctive qualities to shape the
audience’s perspectives of unique individuals?
Students will be assessed on how well they;
● Address the question through their exploration of distinctive qualities as represented in the text.
● Explain, analyse and evaluate the language and stylistic choices of the composer and how these are used
to shape the audience’s perspectives of unique individuals
● Articulate and structure ideas to create a cohesive exploration of the text in essay form.

This response should be 1000 words in length (+/- 10%), and be Arial or Times New Roman font, sized 12 and
double spaced.

Submission details: The polished analytical response is to be submitted on Google Classroom on


the due date before 2:57pm. You should also have a hard copy (printed version) of your essay with
the marking rubric attached submitted to your teacher on the due date.

DRAFT: Each student may submit a TOTAL of ONE draft for feedback (no mark value will be awarded) and students will
be provided with specific areas for improvement. Drafts will be due Thursday, 15 June, Week 8 2023 by 2:57pm.
Students will not receive line by line editing, as proofreading is an expectation of English Standard. The latest time that a
draft may be submitted for feedback is Thursday, 15 June, Week 8 2023 by 2:57pm to allow for feedback to be provided
and applied.
