Meeting 2: Introduction to the TOEIC Test - The Listening Test

There four section in this Listening Test

1. Photo Section
2. Question and Response
3. Short Conversation
4. Short Talks

1. The photo section

It can be:
- A group of people
- An object
- scene
For each photo, you will hear four (4) sentences. You have to look at the photo, listen to the
sentences and decide which sentence best describe the photo.
You only have five (5) second to answer.

2. The question and response

You will hear one speaker ask a question and then you will hear another speaker say three (3)
responses or three (3) replies.
You have to choose the best response to the questions.
In this section you will have 30 questions.
In this section:
- There is nothing to read
- There is nothing to look at
This section is 100% listening.
You can only listen to the question and responses 1 (one) time.
3. The sort conversation
You will hear ten (100 short conversations. Each short conversation has three (3) questions. So,
there are 30 questions for this section.
What to do:
a. Listen to the conversation
b. Read the questions about the conversation
c. Answer the question
From the end of the conversation to the beginning of the next conversation, you only have 24 second to
answer.
Sometimes the conversation is:
- Between two men
- Between to woman
- Between a man and a woman

4. The short Talk

It is a monolog or one speaker talking. It is not a conversation. It is not two people speaking each
other.
A short talk can be a:
a. Advertisement
b. Announcement
c. Message
d. Anything
Sometimes it can be a formal or informal.
We cannot see it. We just can hear it.
We can see the questions and the answer choices, those are written.
Each short talk has 3 questions.
Usually 1 (one) question as 8 second to answer. So, for one short talk you have 24 second.
The whole section has 10 short talks. It means that there are 30 questions to answer.
