EENG 251: CIRCUIT AND NETWORK ANALYSIS I

Course purpose
To equip learners with knowledge on basic circuit analysis using networks theorems and the concept of alternating current and voltage.

Expected learning outcomes


By the end of the course the learners should be able to;
Use network theorems to determine equivalent resistance and voltage.
Calculate equivalent capacitance in series and in parallel and electrical energy stored
Describe the generation of ac and dc voltages and their root mean square values.
Connect simple electrical circuit involving resistors and capacitors.

Course content
Energy conversions, DC series and parallel circuits.Network theorems. Electromagnetism and magnetic circuits; self and mutual inductance coupled
circuits, force and energy stored. Electrostatics; capacitance, force and energy stored.Generation of alternating Emf, average, r.m.s, peak, waveforms
and phasors.Generation of 3-phase Emf.

Felt Pens.

Course evaluation
CAT 30%, Examination 70%, Total 100%
