REPORT ON COURT VISIT

Name : G.M.CHARUHAS
Course : 1 YEAR B.A.LLB
Date : 12.02.2024 to 14.02.2024

From the visit

1. **Arrival**: Arrive at the courthouse early to allow time for security

screenings and finding the correct courtroom. Courthouses can be large and
sometimes confusing to navigate, so give yourself plenty of time.

2. **Dress Code**: Dress professionally. This usually means business attire,

such as a suit or dress with conservative colors. Avoid wearing jeans, sneakers,
or anything too casual.

3. **Observation**: Once inside the courtroom, find a seat in the gallery

designated for observers. Take notes on the proceedings, paying attention to
how the judge conducts the court, how lawyers present their cases, and how
witnesses testify.

4. **Etiquette**: Remain quiet and respectful throughout the proceedings. Turn

off your phone or set it to silent mode. Avoid any disruptive behavior or
unnecessary movement.

5. **Understanding the Roles**: Observe the roles of the judge, lawyers,

witnesses, and any other court personnel. Note how they interact with each
other and with the court procedures.

6. **Types of Cases**: Depending on the court you visit, you may observe
different types of cases, such as criminal, civil, or family law cases. Each type
of case follows its own set of procedures and rules.

7. **Legal Arguments**: Pay attention to the legal arguments presented by the

lawyers. Note how they support their arguments with evidence and precedents
from case law.
8. Judicial Decision-making: If possible, stay for the entire proceeding to
observe how the judge makes decisions based on the arguments presented and
the applicable law.

9. Reflection: After the visit, take some time to reflect on what you observed.
Consider how the theoretical knowledge you've learned in law school applies to
real-world courtroom practice.

10. Debriefing: Discuss your observations with your peers or professors. Share
insights, ask questions, and deepen your understanding of the legal process.

Overall, a court visit can provide valuable insight into how the legal system
operates in practice and enhance your understanding of legal principles and
procedures. Take advantage of the opportunity to learn as much as you can from
the experience.
