CHAPTER 3

MARK�S PAST >.<

It was a fine and bright Saturday afternoon when I decided to go out for a walk. I
didn�t bother to call Macy because she isn�t into this thing called �walking� she
likes to hang out at the mall or any place she could enjoy. Anyways my feet sent me
to the park where families usually bond. I could see baskets full of food, picnic
mats, drinks and toys that children can play with for their entire stay.

I could also see kites being blown by the wind, kids playing tag and older people
on their bikes strolling through the park.

I always come to this park whenever I have time, I don�t know why but I think a
part of me always take me here at first I felt weird about it but as soon as I saw
the beauty of this park who wouldn�t stay?

�Hi baby, why are you crying?� I asked the little girl as I was passing by.

�I�im *sniff* lo�lost *sniff*.� She said.

�Okay let�s find your mom do you know her dress?� I asked her again maybe if she
knows her mom�s dress it would be easy to find. But she shakes her head giving me
the answer �no�.

I sigh in disappointment but that doesn�t mean I gave up. I search for someone who
could help me; maybe there is this lost and found for missing children just like in
the cemetery I saw one of those when I visited my grandfather�s tomb.
�Excuse me sir is there any place I could report a missing child?� I asked a tall
guy.

�Yes it�s near the entrance.� Wow he sure knows where he-he. �Thank you sir.� And
smiled at him.

We started walking where the entrance is because I wanted to report this missing
cute little girl fast. I don�t know if her mother is looking for her already.

�Uhmm excuse me ma�am I would like to report a missing child she�s here with me
mind if you page her mother.� I asked the woman in the front desk.

�Sure dear come inside.� She smiled and let me in. Afterwards she takes notes on
whatever she could possibly say later.

�Good afternoon everyone I receive a report that a little girl is missing she�s
here with us at entrance her name is Casey she�s wearing pink top, skirt and
sandal. And if she�s with you kindly approach us here. Thank you :)�

After 10 minutes I peek at the window and saw a not so old yet not so young too,
maybe she is in her mid 20�s, 24-25 to be exact and I could see in her face that
she�s so worried that she might not be able to find her daughter. As she opens the
door�

�Casey! Casey!� she yelled.

�Excuse me ma�am here she is. She�s fine, thanks to Ms. Tracy here.� The announcer
told Casey�s mom. Afterwards she looked at me with thankful eyes.
�Thank you so much Tracy how could I ever repay you? With such kindness my dear and
I know it�s a small thing for others, but the fact that you put an effort just to
report her here is the nicest thing.� She sure knows how to please somebody.

�But it�s nothing Mrs. �� I pause to know what is her name or surname would be.

�Its Ellie, Ellie Santiago dear� and then she lend her hand so that we could shake
hands.

�Tracy ma�am Tracy Rodriguez� after I said my name I grab her hand and we shake
hands. That�s pretty much it she said thank you a lot of times and I didn�t ask for
anything in return because I remember someone told me it is better to give or help
than to receive.

I bid my goodbye and hug Casey and told her never to part from her mother. As I
said those words I walk out the door. I took one last glimpse and when I saw them
they smiled after me. That�s a good sign for the day. Hope it will be as good as
the next.
MARK�s POV

Here I am in the park with my guitar wishing something good will happen, but that
depends whether faith or even destiny is at my side. The last time I check I�ve
lost the love of my life. Yes you heard me right lost would be my word for it even
though I am the only one lost in her second life. You probably are wondering what
happen back then? So here it goes�

*FLASHBACK*

�So bro, what will it be? Would you ask Kaye for the senior prom?� I was startled
by Alex�s question.
�Yeah bro, I�ve decided I will ask her for the prom� seriously what a question they
all know that Kaye is my girlfriend. But I guess they are just making sure after
all we�re friends.

�Outta bro, just make sure both of you will be there hand in hand.� Josh said with
a serious face. And they all started laughing.

�Laugh all you want guys, but let me ask all of you. Do you have dates already?�
After I said those lines they all stop laughing; now I think I know the answers all
of them don�t have.

�Ha-ha very funny Mark but I�m still working on it. I don�t have the courage yet to
ask Macy.� Yes guys you heard Josh right he�s really into Macy, he likes her a lot.

�You better work that courage out fast. You might end up with only five hands on
that day. Remember hand in hand, see you guys later bye.� When that confrontation
of ours ended I went to my car and drive all the way to Kaye�s house.

A lot of things might change if we�re gone to college she�ll be able to go to the
university she dreamt of for years. As for me I haven�t decided yet if I�ll go with
her, but who knows what will happen in the future.

As I was driving my phone rings�

�Hello Mom�

[�Hi dear I just want to inform you that they�ve already delivered your tuxedo the
one that we ordered?�]

�Really mom, that�s nice I�m on my way to Kaye�s house any words for her? After
that visit I�ll go home straight�

[�Just say hi for me and she�ll look beautiful no matter what.�]

�Okay mom I�m sure she�ll get that very sweet message of yours, love you mom.�

[�Love you too, dear�] and the line was cut.

After a few minutes I was able to reach Kaye�s house, yes it was a fine and lovely
day and tomorrow would be the best day ever. I was going to knock at their door
when suddenly her mom opened the door and I guess she was astonished by my
presence.

�Good afternoon, mom.� You are all probably wondering why I called her mom; I guess
you are all aware that if you are legal you can have the permission on whether you
can call them those. As for me, I guess I�ve got some permission.

�Good afternoon too Mark so what brought you here? We�re just about to get Kaye�s
dress� Mom said

�Oh can I come too mom? I have nothing else to do.� I asked her politely.

�Let�s see if Kaye would agree, honey dear, Mark is here come quick.� She said as
if she�s joking with me. I think Kaye and her mom agreed not to let me join them.
But it is all up to Kaye.

�Wait mom, coming!� tsk her voice. It�s so nice to hear.

I didn�t go inside their house instead I waited here outside same goes with her
mom, we waited patiently. After a couple of minutes somebody hugged me from behind.
I knew it was her with these soft hands so familiar to me.

�Good afternoon sweetie!� I turn around but still her hands are on my waist and at
the same time mine were at her waist too.

�Good afternoon!� and she smiled at me. After she said that I kissed her in the
forehead.

I think we�re hugging each other for a long time because when we finally separate I
heard her mom said�

�Are you two done with the hugging?�

�I think so mom� I said shyly. And Kaye just busted out a small laugh.

�Let�s go then, you�ll have a lot of time with each other tomorrow but first let�s
get your dress Kaye.�

�Yes mom� Kaye said and looked at me. I just respond with a smirk.
I opened the door for the two of the most important persons in my life as I held
one of their hands. Mom is sitting on the passenger seat while as for me and Kaye
we�re at the backseat. Someone is going to be the driver because I don�t want to
leave Kaye here.

I intertwine my left hand to her right hand and she rested her head onto my
shoulder I think she�s sleepy so I just let her do it but before she takes a nap.

�My mom said �Hi�� I whisper to her.

�Tell her I said hi too�

�Another thing she said something about the dress you�ll be wearing that no matter
what, you will always look beautiful.� As I said those words she immediately turns
her head to me.

�She said that?� And I just nodded �Then tell mom thank you that was so sweet and
pass this kiss to her.� Then she kissed me on the cheeks.

�Not to close Mark!� I heard mom said while she�s texting. And I just burst into
laughter.

�Mom what was that?� she asked her mom while I�m still laughing.

�Nothing dear!� and she turns her head to look at us and smile.
�What does mom said?� Kaye asked in a whisper.

�Nothing she thought that we�re cuddling and stuff.�

�Mom!� she glared to her mom but her mother didn�t response and just ignored her.

We were quiet almost half of the trip the store was a bit far and Kaye fell asleep.

*STORE*

�Wake up sweetie we�re here.� I started to shake her a little. She then opens her
eyes and look at me blissfully even though I think I woke her up from a beautiful
dream.

I lend my hand to help her out from the car and she smiled at me.

�Thank you sweetie� she said. I smiled as an answer.

��

�Look at this dear, isn�t lovely?� I heard her mom blurted out as we rush in the
store.
�Yes it is mom, indeed lovely� Smiles are all over the place.

She releases my hand to go to her mom and the dress. I just stare at one side and
all she does is giggle that she�s going to try that wonderful, I mean lovely dress
as her mom said. I suddenly stop staring and my eyes are on her and she�s now
wearing it. My mouth drops open and now she�s coming to me�

�Will you close this mouth of yours, sweetheart?� I immediately close my mouth and
smirk.

�I just can�t help it, you�re so beautiful.� And she laughs and I started laughing
too.

AT THE PROM

Having her as my girl is the greatest thing that�s ever happened to me and I
couldn�t wish for more. With her laugh, smile, eyes, different facial expression
and her beauty all in one, she�s mine. And even though I saw her dress yesterday I
couldn�t stop saying to her that she look lovely in it.

A royal blue dress that the front part is above the knee while the back part is
somewhat longer I keep praying she won�t trip because if that happens I will be
always here, his knight in shining armor.

�Thank you sweetheart for asking me to go with you here thank you! Thank you!� And
there it is as they say butterflies in your stomach it does happen and now I�m
experiencing it. Why? Why did she do that?

�I know you�ve taken so much advantage by thanking me and then you kissed me but
could I just say �you�re welcome�� I stretch my brows up and down asking if it is
okay.
�Hmmm�.� She puts her index finger on the upper lip as if thinking if she�ll let
me.

�Come on sweetheart? Please� And I throw her a famous puppy dog eyes.

�Okay sweetheart!� And I kissed her and also kiss her forehead. �Come, let�s get
inside�.

As we enter the room we were cornered by our friends�

�So if isn�t the cute little couple� said Josh, this guy always makes me laugh I
don�t know why.

�Got a problem with that Josh? I asked

�No I�m just happy�� He paused and looked at our hands �You should be hand in hand
not like that!� He is so stubborn and he intertwines our hands Kaye just laugh at
Josh�s actions.

�Okay bro happy?� And I rise our intertwine hands. �So where are your dates?� I
asked them jokingly.

�Oh you know Mark they�re there, somewhere there� Alex exaggerates the word
�somewhere� and I know now what he meant.
�No date, Alex?� And he swings his head from right to left. �Wait how about you
lover boy?� I asked Josh.

�She�s on her way don�t get to excited Mark!� Ha-ha I think he finally got the
courage to ask Macy.

�Really I hope she wouldn�t take back the words she told you when you asked her?�

�Ha-ha very funny Mark! By the way you look lovely Kaye.� Wow change of subject
that was fast.

�Why thank you Josh uhmm you look�decent.� If I was a really bad friend I would
burst into laughter and roll onto my back because of what Kaye just said, she sure
knows how to handle Josh very well. And all Josh could do is smile a shy smile.

Minutes pass by and Macy did arrived she looks attractive very attractive and I saw
Josh mouth went open. We said our hellos and hi�s, Kaye and Macy pretty much
exchange giggles and laugh on how they look tonight. I couldn�t take my eyes off
Kaye she�s so stunning with that dress and I saw guys across the room who are
taking a glimpse of her but sorry for them she�s mine. The prom went on as it is
planned and some couples danced on the dance floor. Sweet music is pretty much for
us couples but for party songs everyone went wild.

Now here we are in the middle of the dance floor dancing with the music �Forever�
by The Ambassadors, I don�t know back then but I felt something wrong will happen
but ignored it. I focus myself to our dance, she leans into my chest and I
whispered to her the lyrics�� �Forever I�ll be yours, forever I�ll be true�. She
responded with a tight hug.

The song ended and everyone got back to their seat and enjoyed the party. It was
almost midnight when it ended and they decided to go home.
�Hey guys wait up� I was startled to hear Josh running and catching up on us. I
signal Kaye to wait in the car.

�What is it Josh?�

�Uhmm let�s go to a club? What do you think?� seriously what�s with Josh?

�Really Josh? Didn�t you enjoy the party? And now you�re asking us out.� I want to
take Kaye home already I know she�s tired. Better say no to my pal.

�Actually no I didn�t ha-ha, come on man this will be fun I promise.� Arghhh Josh
if I wasn�t with Kaye I might but I guess not.

�Sorry Josh I have to get Kaye home maybe next time, okay?�

�Okay bro, be careful when you drive.�

After that he went looking for our other friends if this wasn�t an important thing
then I might say yes to Josh but I have my obligations now I need to drive Kaye
home. As I enter the car Kaye was looking at me with a questioning eye.

�So what did Josh told you?�

�Oh are we going?� I can�t tell if she wants to go or irritated and just wants to
go home.

�Nope I told him I�m going to take you home I know you�re tired.�

�I would love to come but yeah I think we should head home and take some rest there
is a lot of time for that tomorrow why don�t we invite them for a trip tomorrow?�

�Sounds wonderful but now let�s go home safe first then will plan things out.� And
she kissed me on the cheeks.

I start the engine and head for the road. As I was driving I take a glimpse of her
at the passenger seat and their she seats with her eyes close and I guess dreaming
of something beautiful, I wish I am in that dream. I drive and drive with my eyes
stuck in the road driving safely. Life with Kaye is amazing and I don�t know if one
day I�ll wake up knowing that she�s not at my side anymore.

My thoughts were stops when a vehicle comes at our direction and on the wrong lane.
I was out of control then suddenly��

*SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH*

End of FLASHBACK

�Hey!� that voice, my eyes are still shut. Is that all a dream why is she here?

�Hey! Mark, wake up� Kaye is that you? Don�t leave me please.
�Wake up!� and my eyes opened.
