Blsfirst Aid Training - Proposal
Core Values:
Pioneer Compassion Service Truth
III. Brief Description, Rationale, and Objectives (Why is the activity going to be done? [WHY]
Brief Description:
Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid training equip individuals with essential skills to respond effectively in
emergency situations. Participants learn fundamental techniques to support and sustain life until professional medical
help arrives. The training covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway management, and the use of automated
external defibrillators (AEDs). Additionally, participants gain knowledge in assessing and managing injuries such as
burns, fractures, and bleeding. BLS and First Aid training emphasizes quick and decisive action, enabling individuals
to confidently assist those in need, potentially saving lives in critical moments.
Rationale:
CPR Skills:
- Prompt and effective CPR increases the chances of oxygenating vital organs, especially the brain, in cases
of cardiac arrest, maintaining life until advanced medical help arrives.
Use of AEDs:
- AEDs can restore a normal heart rhythm in cases of sudden cardiac arrest, significantly improving the
chances of survival. Proper training ensures correct usage and enhances the responder's ability to provide
timely assistance.
First Aid:
Injury Assessment:
- Understanding how to quickly and accurately assess injuries allows for prioritizing care and addressing
life-threatening conditions first.
Burn Management:
- Proper management of burns minimizes further tissue damage, reduces the risk of infection, and alleviates
pain, promoting faster healing.
Fracture Care:
- Providing initial care for fractures helps immobilize the injured area, preventing further harm, and reduces
the risk of complications such as nerve or blood vessel damage.
Bleeding Control:
- Rapid and effective control of bleeding is essential to prevent excessive blood loss, shock, and improve
the chances of survival before professional medical assistance is available.
Objectives:
At the end of the activities, student nurses will be able to:
Foster the ability to work collaboratively with others in providing BLS and First Aid, recognizing the
importance of teamwork in emergency response.
Develop the ability to recognize various emergencies promptly and accurately.
Develop systematic approaches for assessing injuries, identifying and prioritizing care for life-threatening
conditions.
Acquire skills to provide initial care for fractures, including immobilization techniques to prevent further
injury and complications.
Build confidence and competence in applying BLS and First Aid skills, empowering individuals to act
decisively and effectively during emergency situations.
Develop communication skills to convey information clearly and effectively during emergencies, ensuring
efficient coordination with emergency services and other responders.
Build resilience and stress management skills to maintain composure and focus during high-pressure
emergency situations.
Understand the legal and ethical aspects of providing BLS and First Aid, ensuring actions align with
regulations and ethical standards.
Promote community involvement by sharing BLS and First Aid knowledge, encouraging others to undergo
training, and fostering a culture of safety within the community.
Become familiar with the proper use and maintenance of BLS and First Aid equipment, ensuring readiness to
respond effectively in various situations.
