2.1.

The building of the supply plants

The building has been located at ground level in a such maner ensuring easy access
for gas cylinder supply vechicles. No parking should be permitted within the
delivery and storage area, other than for loading and unloading cylinders.

Location of the building should be marked clearly on the site plan for ease of
identification in the event of an emergency.

The floor and hard standing should be level and constructed of concrete or other
non-combustible and non-porous material. A concrete finish is preferred and is
likely to have a longer life.

According to Health Technical Memorandum 02-01, Part A, internal walls and

ceilings, including any internal doors of the manifold room, should be of a suitable
non-combustible 2-hour fire-resistant material as defined in BS 476

The floor should be laid to a fall to prevent the accumulation of water.

The doors should be large enough to facilitate cylinder loading/unloading and

should be on an external wall. The emergency exit should be provided with a panic-
release lock. Doors must open outwards.

The ambient temperature in rooms for supply systems shall be in the range of 10 to
40 °C. Max. allowed room temperature with sound-insulated compressors is
+35°C.

Smoke detectors should be provided.

Compressors and vacuum-pumps room ventilation

If th ambient temperature rises above the maximum level, the compressed air outlet
temperature may exceed the maximum statutory level. Screw-type compressors
switch off automatically if the temperature is above the maximum admissible
compression temperature.

Heat generated in the compressors and vacum-pumps room must be removed

through the Gas station building ventilating and air-conditioning system in order to
maintain the temperature in the room at an acceptable level.

The ventilation air with air-cooled compressors and vacuum-pumps contains close
to 100% of the energy consumed by their electric motors in the form of heat.
Artificial ventilation increases the flow speed of cooling air inside the installation
room and guarantees the required flow of air by forced ventilation.

Axial fan "Systemair":

- type: AR 560D4-2
- V = 10600 m3/h
- H = 50 Pa
- P = 1 kW
- 400 V, 50 Hz, 1 A
- max. air temp. t = 50°C

Lighting
Oxygen and nitrous-oxide manifold rooms should be provided with lighting to an
illumination level of 150 lux (15 lumens/sq ft) by means of bulkhead lighting
fittings to IP 54 BS 5490:1977.

Compressed air and vacuum plant room should be provided with a lighting level of
200 lux (20 lumens/sq ft).
Noise control
Manifold and plant rooms should be designed and constructed to ensure the
satisfactory control of noise emission. The effect of vacuum pumps or compressors
running together will be to increase the free-field noise level outside the plantroom
by 5 dB(A) for each additional pump or compressor operation over and above the
specified limits.

3.4. Ventilation of the supply plant rooms

The minimum size of the air inlet and outlet apertures is calculated according to
Health Technical Memorandum 02-01, Part A - Separated ventilation openings
should be equivalent to at least 1.5 % of the total area of the walls and floor.

The total free open area for ventilation required is then:

Aout = 0.015 x (6.01 x 3.5 + 2 x 6.01 x 4.0 + 2 x 3.5 x 4.0) = 1.457 m2

3.5. Mechanical ventilation for the compressed air

and vacuum plant room (VDMA 4363)

Cooling air fan

The minimum size of the air inlet aperture (A in) is calculated with the aid of the
following formula

3600 · Σ P
V = --------------- (m3/h)
ρ · cp · Δt

ΣP - the sum of max. power cosumed by the compressors

and the vacuum-pumps

Σ P = Σ Pcp + Σ Pvp = (3 x 5.5) + (3 x 4) = 28.5 kW

ρ (kg/m3) - density of the air at the cooling temperature

T0 273
ρ = ρo x ---- = 1.25 x ----------- = 1.143 kg/m³
T 273 + 35

cp = 1 kJ/kg K - specific heat for the air

Δt = 10 oC - temperature diference
3600 · 28.5
V = ----------------- = 8976 m3/h
1.143 · 1 · 10

The ventilator output must be approx. 15 % greater than the required flow of
cooling-air in order to provide a satisfactory cooling, even at high summer
temperatures.

The maximum temperature of the compressed air and vacuum room must not
exceeded + 35 oC. This temperature must be kept by an air-conditioning system
which is not the subject of this project design.

The maximum air intake of 162 m3/h for 3 compressor may be neglected in this
calculation. The minimum ventilator (fan) output is therefore

Q = 1.15 x 8976 = 10322 m3/h

The size of the air inlet aperture Ain depends on the ventilator output V and the
maximum flow speed ws in the sand dust protected inlet aperture which have to be
max. 1 m/s.

The minimum size of the air inlet aperture is calculated with the aid of the
following formula:

Q 10322
Ain = -------------- = ------------ = 2.867 m2 > 1.457 m2
3600 x ws 3600 x 1

The calculated inlet air aperture is assumed for all the three rooms.

The outlet aperture for the compressed air and vacuum plant room is the aperture of
the cooling air fan outlet.

Grejanje
Prostorija stanice komprimovanog vazduha se greje recirkulisanim toplim vazduhom iz
vazdušnih kompresora. Potrebna količina toplog vazduha, se preko rešetke sa regulatorom
protoka vazduha ubacuje u prostoriju iz odsisnog kanala otpadnog vazduha kompresora.

Grejanje prostorija stanice medicinskih gasova obavlja se i dvocevnim radijatorskim sistemom

grejanja. Predviđena grejna tela su člankasti radijatori opremljeni sa termostatskim ventilima.
Instalacija grejanja se priključuje na kolektore tople vode u Glavnoj toplotnoj podstanici. Grejna
tela od po 20 čl. Termik-2, 600/160, postavljaju se:
- u stanici vakuuma – novi objekat
- u stanici vakuuma – stari objekat
- u priručnom magacinu – rezervni delovi
- ispod redukcione table – u stanici kiseonika sa bocama
- ispod redukcione table – u stanici azot-oksidula.

Ventilacija
I brzina

u spoljni zid prostorije. Ventilator se uključuje pomoću termostata kada temperatura vazduha u
