INTRODUCTION

Within the sixth form academic level, a fascinating link exists between students' fields of study
and their performance at mandatory CAPE subjects. This research centers a comparative
analysis, delving into the outcomes of mandatory Associate CAPE Subjects across the academic
domains of Humanities, Business, and Science. The study focuses on this relationship, with
placed emphasis on Associate Degree holders among The Bishops High School Alumni.

This investigation aims to unravel the nuanced dynamics inherent in academic performance
within these distinct disciplines and to identify the specific elements which influence
performance. Through the utilization of research methodologies such as surveys and convenience
sampling, this study intends to assess both quantitatively and quantitatively, the connection
between variations that may exist across diverse fields of study and academic performance.

A significant article that supports this study is one carried out by Stabroek News. It speaks about
the performance of students in the mandatory subjects between candidates over two selected
years. This article offers a greater understanding on the performance across the respective streams
in relation to the various core subjects.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

To analyze the overall performances of students in the mandatory Associate subjects

(Communication Studies, Caribbean Studies, Integrated Mathematics) between Humanities,
Business and Science. The researchers' primary tactic was the use of questionnaires, an
empirical study method. Utilizing social media platforms such as Instagram and WhatsApp, past
sixth form students of The Bishops' High School between the years 2020 and 2023, received the
questionnaire through the aforementioned platforms. The study sought information on how
students perceive these subjects within their respective streams. about necessary subjects, which
includes whether they believe they are beneficial or an impediment. Through convenience
sampling, this form of data collection is quantitative. The instrument was chosen because, in
comparison to interviews and surveys, it was more economical and time-efficient. The intended
number of responses was 45, however, the typical number of past students is over 200. Further,
there were some restrictions associated with this method of data collection. The most prevalent
would have been the challenge of collecting responses, which hindered the analysis. Respondents
also answered inadequately, which led to sample bias.
