1. Introduction and general rules
1.1. Introduction
The following PA booklet was created to offer you support for everyday
operations and should be used on all Wizz Air services.
Only consistent delivery of information to our customers can ensure a safe

and well-organised flight.
Public announcement is also an extremely important tool in building a positive

rapport with our customers and delivering personalized customer service.
This means shortening the distance between you and the customers and
adding a familiar, human touch to every interaction.
At WIZZ we define ourselves as reliable, enthusiastic, friendly and vibrant and

this should be transmitted in the way we communicate with our customers.
For your convenience the PA booklet is divided into two parts. The Standard
announcements part is comprised of announcements following the flight
choreography and is to be used during standard operations. All the
announcements to be used in case of unforeseen circumstances are included
in the Non-standard announcement chapter in the latter part of the booklet.
We do hope that you will find the revised booklet beneficial.

1.2. General rules
There are three announcements to be known by heart by all Crew members:

‘Boarding’, ‘Welcome during taxi’ and ‘Goodbye at destination’.
It is mandatory to introduce yourself along with the entire Crew during the
‘Welcome’ announcement as it sets the tone for the whole flight.
If the SCA is not a native speaker, all non-English onboard announcements shall
be made by the CA2.
If Flight Crew are not native speakers, the SCA shall translate all the
announcements made by them.
With a permission of the SCA of the flight any active Crew Member is entitled to
deliver any announcement. However, the SCA shall ensure that standards of PA
delivery is kept.
1.2.1. Languages used
English
It is mandatory to deliver announcements in two languages on any flight,

international or domestic.
The official language of Wizz Air is English. Therefore, English announcement must
be made on every flight.
Second language/native language of a base
English announcements must be followed by an announcement in a local language

of a base.
The below exceptions apply:
• In case of W patterns where Crew does not speak the local language of
any of the destinations – only English announcement can be made
• In case of W patterns where Crew does speak the local language of any of
the destination (that is not a local language of a Crew base) – English
announcement plus announcement in the local language of the destination

1.2.2. Announcement delivery position
In order to build a positive and trustworthy relationship with customers, it is

important to position yourself properly.
The below rules must be followed while delivering a PA:
• Announcements that are made using the FWD handset must always be
delivered standing in the middle of the fwd galley facing customers.
• When in the view of customers it is forbidden to make any announcements
with one’s back turned to customers (this includes ‘After take-off’ and all
service and sales-related announcements).
• Welcome announcements must be made by SCA standing in the middle of
the FWD galley, accompanied by CA2.
• During ‘Welcome’ announcement all other Cabin Crew members should be
present in their designated areas/galleys facing customers so that
customers may get aquatinted with the Crew.
1.2.3. Continuous communication
It is mandatory to maintain continuous communication with customers to keep

them informed about any occurrences or changes to the flight operation.
In case of any delay communication will always come from the Flight Crew and
Cabin Crew announcements will subsequently support and enhance Flight Crew’s
message with additional cabin-related information.
If there is a delay of 5 minutes or more, Flight Crew should make relevant

announcement, there is no need for Cabin Crew to follow it up.
If there is a delay above 15 minutes or more, Flight Crew should make relevant
announcement, and afterward Cabin Crew should make an additional one regarding
the possible use of the toilets, etc.
1.2.4. Delivery
The effectiveness and impact of a PA rests on you and your delivery skills. While
making an announcement it is obligatory to follow the rules below. They refer to
choice of words, preparation and delivery of the PA:

Choice of words
The choice of appropriate language is highly important. Make sure it is clear and
conveys respect and politeness at all times.
• Be aware of two different styles that should be used – one for the safety
announcements and the other for catering announcements.
− Safety announcements must be precise, coherent and not open to
interpretation.
− Catering announcements can be less formal and more inventive.
• Every announcement should start with ‘Ladies and Gentlemen…’ and
conclude with ‘Thank you’
• Whenever there is a really important announcement to be made start it by
saying ‘Ladies and gentlemen, could I have your attention please…’ as this
is the most attention-grabbing phrase. However, be careful not to overuse
it.
Preparation
In order to convey trust and professionalism prepare yourself before the actual
delivery of the PA.
• Make sure the PA system is working properly.

• Know what you are going to say – read it first.
• Check the flight data such as captain’s name, crew’s names, languages
spoken by the crew, destination, flight time, time zone, and temperature at
the destination in advance.
• If you are not a native speaker, check the correct pronunciation of words
that may be troublesome (this includes names of onboard sales products)
• Assume a proper posture and control your body language. Stand straight,
keep your shoulders back and aligned, keep your chin parallel to the ground.
• Ensure correct timing by aligning your announcements with the actions that
they refer to. Your PA should slightly precede the services that are about to
take place. Also, ensure that the timing of the PA is aligned with Flight crew
announcements.
Delivery
Adjust the tone of your voice, including pitch, clarity and pace to ensure the PA is
understood.
• The PA should be presented clearly and with a warm, welcoming tone of

voice – talk with a smile.
• Do not rush the PA.
• Ensure that the volume of your voice is neither too quiet nor too loud – do
not scream nor whisper.

• For emphasis use pauses and varied tone of voice.

• The goal is for customers to understand the message – for this to
happen it should be pleasant to listen to.
1.2.5. Personalization
To establish relationship with customers we encourage you to add a sprinkling of

WIZZ personality to each flight.
Make sure that how you communicate is aligned with our brand so that customers
will always come away with the same positive feeling about the WIZZ experience.
Whenever you can, make the announcements more personal and relevant by
addressing particular groups of travellers, mentioning holidays and specials
occasions.
Take any opportunity to make a flight memorable for our customers and prepare
an announcement upon their request whenever they are celebrating a special
occasion.

Club members and those of you travelling with us for the first time.
Before you take your seat, please place smaller carry-on items, including handbags
and backpacks underneath the seat in front of you, and only larger trolley bags in
the overhead compartment. Please ensure that they do not block the aisle or
emergency exit areas.

Wet-lease operation
A wet-lease is defined as a leasing arrangement whereby one airline (the lessor)

provides an aircraft, complete Crew, maintenance, and insurance to another airline
(the lessee). The lessor then operates under the AOC of the lessee - the flight
uses the flight number of the lessee.
In regard to Wizz Air operation it implies that any of the three AOCs i.e. Wizz Air
Hungary, Wizz Air UK and Wizz Air Abu Dhabi may operate flights under the other
AOC, if acting as a lessor.
In case of one AOC acting as a lessor and performing flights under another AOC, the
below information must be included in the ‘Welcome Announcement’:

demonstrate the safety features of this aircraft so that in the unlikely event
of an emergency you will be prepared and know what to do. Please remove
your earphones and mute your electronic devices to be able to dedicate full
attention and follow Crew’s instruction.

To fasten your seatbelt push the ends together and tighten it by pulling the
loose end. To unfasten, lift the cover of the buckle.

When released, pull the nearest mask towards you, this will activate the flow

Remove the life vest from the pouch and pull it over your head.

As soon as we reach our cruising altitude we will start our onboard service. In the seat

Turbulence

The captain has turned on the fasten seat belt sign as we are passing through an area
of turbulence. Please return to your seats, fasten your seat belts and stow away your
laptops and other large electronic devices. The washroom will be out of use and hot
drinks will not be served at this time.
OR

Since we are passing through an area of turbulence we cannot begin our service
onboard / we need to interrupt our service onboard. Please make sure that your seat
belts are securely fastened.
