Required Learning Resources & Materials

The required learning resources (e.g., readings, web links, etc.) and materials (e.g., software, lab
equipment, etc.) are listed in the table below.

Additional Notes
Information pertaining to this course such as regulatory and accreditation requirements are listed below.
Attendance and Participation

Attendance facilitates learning and is crucial to academic success. Students are expected to treat this class
like a paying job; to be punctual, arrive prepared, and notify their professor when they are not able to
attend class. It is the responsibility of the student to retrieve any missed materials and notes from
Blackboard or from a fellow classmate when class is missed. Due to the amount of material covered in
each class, students who fail to regularly attend class may find it difficult to catch-up on missed material.

Course Drop Date

Course drop dates for each course can be found on your slc.me account.

Assignments

There will be a 20% deduction for each late assignment, and an additional 20% deduction for each 24-
hour period following. An assignment handed in 3 periods late will be given 0%. Assignments are to be
submitted at the beginning of class on the due date. Assignments received after that time will be
considered late.

Changes to Delivery Schedule

It is sometimes necessary for professors to adjust the course delivery schedule throughout the semester.
Notification of any such changes will be announced via SLC e-mail. Students are required to check their
SLC e-mail account on a daily basis to ensure that they receive these communications in a prompt
manner.

Proper Referencing for FAHP Assignments

All assignments in the Fitness & Health Promotion program must be referenced appropriately using the
American Psychological Association (APA) format. Please refer to the manual provided in GENE 114 or
visit the Writing Centre for more information.

Cellular Phones

Cellular phones are not permitted in class. Students using cellular phones will lose participation marks
and may be issued an advisement form. Use of a cellular phone will affect your professionalism status
which could adversely affect your ability to move forward in the program.

Test Dates and Quizzes

Any student who finds it impossible to write a test or submit an assignment on the scheduled date and
time due to extenuating circumstances is expected to contact the professor before the scheduled deadline
to make alternative arrangements. Documentation of the extenuating circumstances may be required.
Anyone failing to comply with this requirement will forfeit the opportunity to write the test and will
receive a grade of 0%.

Students must be present in class to write pop quizzes and complete the in-class work. If the student does
not attend class, these marks are forfeited.

Grades

All marks are posted on Blackboard. It is the student’s responsibility to access Blackboard and check
grades regularly. The pass mark for this course is 50%. A student performing below the expected
minimum grade level will receive an advisement and a request to meet with the coordinator. After
receiving an advisement, it is the responsibility of the student to contact the professor and/or coordinator
to develop a plan to enhance their academic success.
