ESSAY: Encouraging young people to study science

It is often claimed that today's young people are less and less attracted to science, and
other types of studies seem to be predominating. It is well-known by everyone that
science has a reputation for being boring or too difficult for many people, or perhaps is
the lack of role models what makes it not so popular. However, I will discuss some points
about aspects of science that could make young people change their perspective about
this discipline.

We might have learnt that science may not be as exciting as other studies, the reality is
that it all depends on how they teach you. There are school programs that show you
science in a very practical way: carrying out experiments, testing theories or teaching
you how you can apply all the knowledge in your daily life. Which makes you observe
that science can be much more than just some books with lot of unclear texts.

On the other hand, we can find government grants, which are given to those young
scientists who are completely inmersed in science and who are full of enthusiasm to
make researches and improve their knowledge. This can encourage young people who
may feel insecure about studying science because they believe that they will not be able
to achieve what they want.

On balance, I strongly believe that science is a very important part of our future, from
the development of new technologies to the solution of global issues. It is necessary that
young people give it the necessary value and are encouraged to contribute to this great
discipline.
