Description of the machine, its area of application and usage in compliance with the intended use
The temperature may not drop below the minimum product temperature.
For details about the recommended cutting material temperature,
see☞ „Inserting the cutting material properly“ on Page 23.
Intended use also includes compliance with the operating instructions and
maintenance requirements.
Every use of the machine for other purposes than those mentioned is
considered unintended.
Hence, wood must not be cut on the machine, for example. The
manufacturer is not legally liable for any kind of damage resulting from this;
the user alone bears responsibility for this.

Safety instructions
If the knife edge comes to a standstill inside the chamber after cutting
processes that have been terminated in the normal way (cf. drawing),
switch the machine off immediately.
The machine may not be put into operation again until after the fai-
lure has been remedied by the TREIF aftersales service.
If the seal on the knife shaft becomes damaged, a breeding ground for
bacteria may develop inside the machine. After every cleaning pro-
cess, inspect the knife shaft seal (arrowed) for visible damage.
If it is damaged, have it replaced by the TREIF service engineer imme-
diately.

Control unit
The control system of the machine automatically starts and stops the con-
veyor belt. The operating mode is set via selector switch 1:
Permanent-on
The conveyor belt runs at the set speed as soon as the main switch is tur-
ned on. This setting is not dependent on the feed movement.
Cyclical
The conveyor belt runs at the set speed as soon as the cutting procedure
is started. During the manual start-up phase, the conveyor belt is stopped.
Immediately after the cutting procedure is ended, the belt stops.
Manual feed
The conveyor belt runs at the set speed as long as the selector switch is
held 1. It is possible to remove the cut slices without opening the removal
cover.

Other notes
b As a rule the best cutting results are obtained at a temperature of the
product to be cut of 0° to -2° Celsius.
b Pay attention to the sharp knife!
b Observe the grinding instructions (see ☞ „Sharpening the knife“ on
Page 73).
b Make sure the product to be cut is securely placed in the infeed chan-
nel. Whenever possible, secure the product by means of the product
feed holder, without fail.
b Pay attention that the counter-blade is adjusted correctly in accordance
with the cutting material!
Observe the height adjustment of the counter-blade (see ☞ „Height
adjustment of the counter-blade“ on Page 26).
The height of the counter-blade can be adjusted to suit the cutting material,
in order to achieve a better cutting result.

3. Cleaning / Disinfection
This chapter is intended for the cleaning staff and all persons authorised to
clean the machine.
Cleaning / Disinfection
The machine must be cleaned and disinfected regularly:
after each work period or depending on the product that is to be cut and on
the dirt accumulation on the machine, but at least once daily!
The work processes and information for daily cleaning and disinfection are
provided in this chapter.
Note:
The owner must prepare operating instructions that set out the
responsibilities for any work on and with the machine.

7.4 Cutting programs
The electronic control of the TREIF PUMA - E has a total of 32 memory lo-
cations, which can be occupied with various cutting programs.
Program locations S1 to S20 are permanently assigned; there are 5 for
each of the 4 operating modes, as well as 12 freely-assignable program lo-
cations P1 to P12 to change an existing cutting program and set to one of
the program quick select buttons( „Program softkeys“ on Page 83)

7.6 Program parameters
Every cutting program has a wealth of program parameters (depending on
the mode of operation selected).
The limiting values for each program parameter are shown in the third line
Programming
of the display in [ ]
(please also observe chapter „Minimum/maximum display entries“ on
Page 85)

You can use the two arrow keys "Select program parameter" to select the
individual program parameters of the relevant operating mode in successi-
on.
You can use the "UP/DOWN ARROW" to call up the various cutting para-
meters in succession.
P7 P8 The relevant cutting parameter can then be changed using the "+ / -" edit
keys.
Cutting thickness
The cut thickness is equal to the slice thickness of a portion.
The limit values depend on the selected operating mode.
Length range
This parameter determines the length of a cutting range in percent re-
lative to the entire product line (= 100%)..
Depending on the optimisation type, the "number range" parameter
can be set here instead of the "length range".
NOTE: only selectable in RS and LS operating modes.
Quantity range
Parameter for the range optimisation of a required number of slices in
a cutting range.
NOTE: only selectable in RS and LS operating modes.
First cut
Inputting a value greater than zero ensures that before the start of an
actual cutting operation, a piece with a defined length (0 to 250 mm) is
cut from the product line.
NOTE: only selectable in RS and LS operating modes.
Remaining product
The value entered here determines the length of the product line, which
remains on the product feed holder at the end of the cutting operation.
The residual length can be set between 0 and 250 mm.
NOTE: only selectable in RS and LS operating modes.
86 06/2014 123842V01_EN
No. of blank cuts
Specifies the number of knife revolutions in which no product is fed..
Between 0 and 99 blank cuts can be set.
NOTE: only selectable in the LS operating mode.
Return travel
The path covered by the product from the cutting level while the blank
Programming
cuts are being made is entered here. The first feed after the blank cuts
are made is always increased by the amount of the value set here.
The adjustment range is between 0 and 10 mm.
NOTE: only selectable in RS and LS operating modes.
.
1/2 Slices
Adapting the slice thickness after the first two slices of a group or a
stack.
If cut thickness differences between the first two slices and the subse-
quent slices of a group are detected, the setting value can be changed.
The set limits are between +/- 10 mm
NOTE: only selectable in RS and LS operating modes.
- 1st slice too thin and the 2nd slice too thick:
Correction values are entered using "+".
- 1st slice too thick and the 2nd slice too thin:
Enter correction values with "-".
Cutting ranges
Cutting range means the division of a product line into pieces with va-
rious cutting thicknesses.
The max. number of cutting ranges is 10 pieces.
NOTE: only selectable in RS and LS operating modes.
Mode of optimation
Parameter for changing of the optimisation type.
Either "length range" or "number range" can be set.
NOTE: only selectable in RS and LS operating modes.

7.7 Cutting ranges – definition

A B In "SINGLE KNIFE RS" mode, products can be divided into up to 10 diffe-
rent cutting ranges. (example: 3) The remaining middle portion between
Programming
section [A] and the residual piece [B] is divided into range lengths "by per-
cent".
These range lengths can be assigned differing cut thicknesses.
Alternatively:
If the "Number range" optimisation type is used, the cutting range is divided
into the entered number of slices.

Please use the spare parts catalogue to order spare parts. We only provide
a guarantee for ORIGINAL TREIF SPARE PARTS that we have delivered.
We draw express attention to the fact that spare parts and accessories not
supplied by us are also not checked and approved by our technicians. The
mounting and/or use of such products can therefore under some circum-
stances change the design properties of the PUMA E for the worse and
therefore compromise the active and/or passive safety. Any liability or war-
ranty whatsoever on the part of TREIF Maschinenbau GmbH is excluded
for any damage caused by the use of non-GENUINE TREIF SPARE
