“Yellow Confetti”
Amid the chaos was Benedicto Cabrera, who encapsulated the civil resistance of
Filipinos at the time through his controversial art piece.
“Yellow Confetti Yellow confetti is work of art that was created in the early to mid 1980’s during
the People Power Revolution. It is yellow confetti because those yellow ’confettis’ are the yellow flags
and ribbons that the resisters use, which also derived to Yellow Revolution. It is described as a
dynamic and powerful resonant of work. The painting describes the civil resistance during the people
power.

1986, the year that the Yellow Revolution ended, Bencab repainted this work as "The
Edsa Event" ; where the central image was nearly identical to its prototype but the girls were
this time festooned in a shower of yellow confetti juxtaposed against strips of red, blue, white
and yellow paper. The motif of the confetti within Bencab's narrative has evolved into a
symbol of the changing times and hope of a better future.
“Women with Baskets, Fish, and Crab”

The painting "Women with Baskets, Fish, and Crab" was created by Anita Magsaysay-
Ho, a famous painter from the Philippines, in 1968.
In sich a painting, you can see women holding baskets of fish and crabs. This shows
their main work as breadwinners and breadwinners for their family. Having baskets of fish
and crabs can be a symbol of wealth and food in Philippine culture. The arrangement of
elements in the painting gives life to its characters, and it shows the unity and connection of
the women in their work. The painting may also reflect the importance of women in the daily
life of their community.

culture and appreciation for the simple activities of women in the Philippines. This is a

“Dalagang bukid”

The painting "Farm Girl" by Fernando Amorsolo is a famous work of art created by
the artist in 1926. It shows a farm girl walking with a pot. His works with the theme of
provincial life and women had a great influence on the art and culture of the Philippines.
In this picture, you can see a farm girl carrying crops, surely from her work in the
fields. She is seen holding a basket full of vegetables and flowers. The farm maiden is shown
with a unique beauty and modesty, which is a common theme in Amorsolo's works.

Fernando Amorsolo's "Dalagang Bukid" is one of the symbols of his great art and love for
Philippine culture and nature. It is one of the favorites of sculptors and art collectors in the
Philippines and shows the history and importance of farm life in the country.

Anita Magsaysay-Ho (1914-2012) was a renowned Filipina artist known for her
exceptional contributions to Philippine art, particularly in the realm of figurative and genre
painting. Here are some key points about her life and work.
she has done many paints like "Women Working in the Rice Fields" (1950) and
Harvest Time" (1970) many more.
Anita Magsaysay-Ho's legacy in Philippine art is significant. Her paintings continue to
be celebrated for their portrayal of the Filipino way of life and the central role of women in
society. She is considered one of the important figures in the "Thirteen Moderns," a group of
artists who played a pivotal role in the development of modern art in the Philippines.
Anita Magsaysay-Ho's contributions to Philippine art have left a lasting impact, and her
works continue to be appreciated for their cultural significance and artistic merit. She is
remembered as a trailblazer in the portrayal of Filipino women in art and remains an
inspiration to artists in the Philippines and beyond.
“Napoleon Abueva”

Napoleon Abueva, often referred to as the "Father of Modern Philippine Sculpture," was
a highly influential and celebrated Filipino sculptor. He made significant contributions to the
world of art and played a pivotal role in shaping modern sculpture in the Philippines.
he has done many paints like "Sandugo","Kaganapan" many more. Napoleon Abueva
was born on January 26, 1930, in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines. He came from a family
of artists. His father, Teodoro Abueva, was a sculptor, and his mother, Isabel Martinez, was a
painter. Abueva showed artistic talent at a young age, and his parents recognized and
nurtured his creative abilities.
Abueva received numerous awards and recognitions for his contributions to art and
culture. He was honored as a National Artist of the Philippines in 1976, the highest
recognition given to artists in the country. He was also recognized internationally for his
artistic achievements.
“Benedicto Cabrera”

Benedicto Cabrera, known as BenCab, is a highly acclaimed Filipino contemporary


artist known for his modern and abstract works of art.
he has done many paints like “Sabel ” , "Larawan" many more. BenCab was born on
April 10, 1942, in Malabon, Metro Manila, Philippines.
He studied at the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts, where he honed his
artistic skills and developed his unique style. In 2006, BenCab was awarded the National
Artist of the Philippines for Visual Arts, the highest honor given to artists in the country. He
was recognized for his significant contributions to Philippine art and culture. Additionally,
he received the Cultural Center of the Philippines' Thirteen Artists Award in 1970.
