A QUICK
NOTE

If you are not completely new to Blender, then you should
probably skip the first chapter and pay attention only to the part
that tells about the secret objects

All the shortcuts that are shown here using the keys
that can be used both with Windows and Mac OC
+ there are links to the videos

For example, Ctrl for Windows

And Command for Mac

+ secrets
BASICS PART 1

brief theory:
every object in blender moves, scales, modifes along
an axis such as ‘X’, ‘Y’ and ‘Z’

to move an object freely

select an object and use ‘G’ key

but if you want to move it

along a particular axis or axises,
then use ‘X’, ‘Y’ and ‘Z’ keys

‘What if I want to move it along two axises at once?’

then use this shortcut:

!An axis you want to exclude!

So ‘shift’ means ‘exclude’ and then you choose the axis to exclude

BASICS PART 1

to rotate an object freely

select an object and use ‘R’ key

all the shortcuts that we use

in moving objects are appliable in rotating
so if you want to rotate an object
along a particular axis or axises,
then use ‘X’, ‘Y’, ‘Z’

let’s say you want to rotate a cube

along z axis then you shold press ‘R’
and a key for a axis you want to use
in this case ‘Z’

Same thing with exclusion of axises

BASICS PART 1

to scale an object
in all directions press ‘S’ key

to scale an object in a particular axis

press ‘S’ + any ‘axis’ key

Same thing with exclusion of axises

SECRET:
You may know that in order to add an object,
you need to press these keys:

I bet you didn’t know that special objects can

be added to the regular list of objects!

mesh editing
and topology adjustments
BASICS PART 2

brief theory:
to go into editing mode press this button:

Just like when scaling, rotating and moving

we can freely use all three axeses in editing mode

something strange happened to

your object and you want vertexes
to be aligned straight

then select all the vertexes

you want to align and press

the axis you want

then press
to align them with

You are ready to go, mesh is fixed

BASICS PART 2

what is the proper object’s mesh?

nobody knows
It all depends on what this 3d model is for

but the industry standard is considered

to be a four-point face/polygon like this

but sometimes in our work we can

come across a mess like this

what is the problem with it?

This affects how our object
behaves during shading,
texturing and rigging.

It may cause unwanted artifacts on it

therefore, we prefer exact 4 vertex

faces rather than less or more

friend foe
BASICS PART 2

so what to do if your mesh is a mess?

select the mesh you want to fix and use
this shortcut:

this shortcut opens a pop-up window

where you can choose how
you want to change the mesh

click on ‘Tris to Quads’ and

the mesh is fixed!
