1. Was it fair to pass their wage distribution responsibility to the post office? Should this practice be
continued in future?

Ans: Passing the wage distribution responsibility onto the post office wasn’t entirely fair. The post office
operated on limited hours and couldn’t always handle the volume of cash transactions.

Furthermore, the post office didn’t have the same customer service that the company’s own payroll
department could provide. On the other hand, the post office did have some advantages. It helped
reduce the likelihood of cash theft. It also made it easier for employees to save money by allowing them
to put their paychecks into their savings accounts directly.

Overall, whether the post office should continue to be used for wage distribution should be decided
based on the individual needs and circumstances of your company and its employees.

2. Why do you think that workers withdrew the money? If you were in place of VP (HRM) how would
you go about solving the existing problems?

Ans: The workers took the money out because they didn’t trust the Post Office or the company’s wage
distribution process. They were worried that they’d be robbed or that they wouldn’t be able to get their
money when it was needed. In my role as the Vice President of Human Resources, I would:

❖ Improve communication with workers, I would like to explain to the employees the advantages
of utilizing the post office as a wage distribution channel and why it’s safe.
❖ Provide more training to workers on how to use the post office. This would help to reduce their
fear and anxiety about using the system.
❖ Ease access to cash for employees. I would like to see the post office open later and raise the
cash limit.
❖ Encourage your employees to save. I would encourage them to save by matching contributions
to their savings accounts.

3. Was the reward system effective? Why or not?

Ans: The reward system didn’t encourage employees to save money because the rewards weren’t large
enough to offset the incentive to spend. The reward system was also poorly advertised, so many
employees didn’t know about it. If I were in place of the VP (HRM), I would make the following changes
to the reward system:

❖ Rewards should be made more valuable. This will make them more appealing to employees.
❖ Make the reward system more visible. This would make sure everyone knows about it.
❖ Increase the visibility of the reward system. This would ensure that everyone is aware of the
system.
