My name is Akito Fumiko. I'm from Nagoya Prefecture.

My dad is from Nagoya and my mom is from Busan in South Korea
I'm a plastic surgeon.
I work at University of Science and Technology Hospital in Sana'a, Yemen.

Do you know Yemen?

Yemen is a country at the southern end of the arabian peninsula in western asia. It
is the second-largest arab sovereign state in the peninsula

Yemen is a war country that is been attacked by the Talibans. The Taliban are
terrorist group killing and destroying properties.

I'm on a three years contract with the Yemen government. The contract runs from
2019 to 2022. So my contract will expire three months from now. I'll come to Japan
after my contract expires

Although it is very dangerous and scary here, because of the war, innocent people
die here every day.

I love my job very much because it brings me happiness and joy whenever life is
saved, and it is a privilege to help humanity.

Well, I hope we can be good friends in sincerity, trust and honesty.

Trust, loyalty and respect are a must for eternal happiness. No matter how long you

What do you like most about your job?

I love helping to save life, the after reaction of joy I receive from my patients,
families and friends is really priceless.

So are you married or single?

I'm a single mum. I lost my husband 5 years ago on a business trip in China. It was
a sad moment

My daughter is 12 years old. She studies at boarding academy in Manchester, UK

It was a really hard decision to leave her and take on this contract here. My
daughter's name is Chloe.

I also have a very close connection to my daughter and we share everything together
as great friends.
 STORY

I was born in Nagoya Prefecture.

I was just 3 years old when I lost my parents. They died in a car accident. I grew
up with my uncle, who was sick of what is sometimes referred to as locally advanced
cancer. The cancer has already grown to multiple tumor, and has spread to some of
his tissue and organs.

I left Japan when I was 7 years old with my uncle, few years after the death of my
parents. I went to UK with my uncle, but my uncle later died of cancer when I was
11 years old

I was forced to live as an orphan. I was told that no family member came for my
pick up and I had to stay and face life head on, and lived in an orphange.

Life in the orphanage was very hard I went to school with inadequate utility. I had
a scholarship, and graduated from high school.

I studied Medicine and surgery in the University of Bristol, and soon I started
working for the UN.

I have no siblings, no parents and even extended family. I was all alone in this
world, I didn't make friends because they always laugh at me during high school, so
i thought it was better alone.

I receive my certificate following graduation from the University of Bristol, UK.

I had my degree as the best (MIS) Minimally Invasive Surgery student for joint
reconstruction. I completed my four years of undergraduate college, and i finish
four years of medical school. I wrote and passed my medical licensure boards.

I was so lonely. There was no family, so I enlisted for more task I and worked at
other private hospitals, made a lot of money. I was promoted quickly, made many
cash but money was never important to me, because money could not give me
happiness.

I'm alone in this world, but am so thankful for having my daughter, and you as my
good friend.

I have lived in UK for so many years. I don't know much about the Japanese
traditions and cultures. I don't even know how to speak Japanese. I don't want my
daughter to grow up like me. I want my daughter to know Japan very well. I want my
daughter to know the traditions and culture of Japan, and be able to speak Japanese
very well. I have lived in a place of war for three years now. I want to come to a
peaceful country.

Sometimes I make use of translation application, because I'm not good at Japanese
language.
You know I lived in UK all my life. I hope you'll teach me Japanese language when I
come to Japan. I'll also teach you English.
There is a document that allows us to indicate where doctors, and senior staffs
will like to settle down after our contract expires. I have already indicated
Japan, as where I will settle down after the end of my contract.

I have a house in UK!

But after my retirement from Yemen, the UN government will make preparation for my
departure and document to relocate to Japan
It's all part of my contract

How do you spend your free time at work?

I read a lot of books, communicating with my daughter and news from the internet
when I have a free time from work here in Yemen.

I like seafood, rice and pasta.

What's your dream?

For the last few years, I have lived my childhood dreaming of becoming a doctor and
helping people. I've been doing this for many years as a doctor and still want to
help people

My dream is that the contract will expire so that I can leave this war zone.
I want to come to Japan with my daughter Chloe and buy a house where I can live a
calm and peaceful life.
When I come to Japan in the future, I also dream of starting a private hospital.

How old are you? When is your birthday?

I'm 47 years old, I was born in 17 december 1974.

Do you think it is possible for everyone to control their own destiny?

We can shape and work towards our destiny by the actions we perfrom
If we work hard and have the determination to work toward something, I believe we
can achive anything
It may take time but it will come true
I always wanted to be a doctors and help people since i was young, and i worked
hard for it. That's why i'm a doctor today.
Value the people and opportunities that comes your way is also very important.

What are some of the most important things in your life?

Family, their successes, own peace of mind, inner harmony, honesty with oneself and
with the world, health, development of oneself as a person.

For me it will be my daughter and make the people around me happy, the loss of her
dad really affected me a lot and it made me realize the importance of family
because people always tend to let you down when you need them the most.

Family as support, support, place of stability, emotional balance, learning moving

forward, novelty in life, knowing yourself, your fears, expectations, crises,
failures and the opportunity to grow further, change, become the best version of
yourself, understanding others and the world around you through yourself and your
growth.

What is your biggest fear In life?

Probably physical pain, I always subconsciously avoid dangerous situations.
This is if you analyze the past and I already look at many things differently, part
of my biggest fear Is to loose the one I love and I don 抰 want to loose anyone
close to me again. I enjoy life in a quiet, peaceful and loving manner, I avoid
conflicting situations that may interrupt my inner peace.I hope I find someone with
similar traits, someone who will appreciate me for who I am and will support me in
all my endeavors to excel in life, who will be my comforter and share most things
with me good or bad.
It 抯 always nice to have you near and to enjoy your company and your loyalty. It 抯
important to have the friendship and affection of someone with whom we can share
our joys and sorrows.

What are your likes and dislikes as a person?

I hate lies, deceit, disloyalty dishonesty. I hate when people try to pretent to be
what they are not, if eventually you lie and disguise yourself for us to be
friends, sooner or later the relationship will come to hurtful end and this is not
right. If a person cannot accept you for what or who you are, then there is no
point of being friends, dishonest people for me are really toxic people. Generally
I like a truthful person free from tricks and lies.

So how is everything going over there in Japan regarding to economic situation?

Well i believe in every situation that has to do with national economic, has to
plead with the leaders, if the leaders (GOVERNMENT) can take care of their duties
and obligations very well I know nations can grow in good results

I want to set up a private hospital, when I come to Japan. It will be free medical
care to all citizens above 60 years.

Poor communication and misundertanding are some of the major reason why
relationships break down. Good communication includes being clear about what you
have or have not committed to and what has been agreed upon.
disrespect to one another is also another reason.
Tell me, what do you think are some of the reasons why good friendships and
relationship breakdown?

Building trust is not without risk. It involves allowing both you and others taking
risks to prove trustworthiness.

Helping another person, even if it provides no benefit to you, builds trust.

Authentic kindness helps to build trust.

Acknowledgment and appreciation play an important role in building trust and

maintaining good relationships.

Recognizing and appreciating the efforts of others shows your talent for leadership
and teamwork and increases the trust others have in you.

If people don 抰 demonstrate appreciation for a good deed, they appear selfish.
Selfishness destroys trust.

When a person has integrity you can trust what they say and that they live
according to their values..

Being trustworthy is one of the hallmarks of being a good friend and a good person.
Trust is a very important thing to grow in life. Be it in personal or professional
life, you cannot live without trust.

A lot of times people don't trust another person because they are making
assumptions that aren't true.

What is the very first thing you do when you wake up each day?
The first thing i do every morning is to pray to our almighty God to protect me
here in Yemen cus i work in a war zone. and i also pray daughter Chloe to be safe
in School and i pray for you in japan for the safety of you and your family. then i
have a cup of coffee and prepare myself before going to the shower to prepare for
work.

Are you a Christian or Buddhist?

My Dad was a christian/buddhism. I used to follow my dad to the church/temple in
Nagoya. I have not been to church/temple to worship for a long time due to my job.
I promise to follow you to church/temple always, when I come to Japan

If you were given the oppritunity to become the president, what would you do first?

My first job as president is to support an orphanage in Japan.

I grew up in an orphanage and found that most children have a harder time surviving
than adults. Adults can work and make money, but children cannot.
Without sufficient support for these orphans around the world, they will not be
able to live properly
I also hate war, so I want to make sure that the country has perfect and stable
peace.

After retiring here in Yemen and receiving compensation from the UN government, I
plan to donate to an orphanage when I come to Japan.
It's a sign of gratitude because I was once one of them

I also like summer because is the hottest of the four temperate seasons, falling
after spring and before autumn, at the summer solstice, the days are longest and
the nights are shortest, with day length decreasing as the season progresses after
the solstice.

I also like winter is the coldest season of the year in polar and temperate zones,
winter does not occur in most of the tropical zone, It occurs after autumn and
before spring in each year.

Do you think money can buy happiness?

It is tough to say whether or not money can buy happiness because happiness is
difficult, if not impossible to define.

Some would say that money can provide you with basic comforts, shelter, food,
healthcare that are a prerequisite for experiencing happiness

Happiness is a complex emotion that is influenced by intangible factors such as one

抯 personality.

Happiness is free and everyone deserves to be happy. I always tell others that no
one has the right to steal joy or happiness from a person

It's very important to be happy. I always say that happiness is free, but in some
cases it's the most expensive gift. It's best to go your own way, leading to
happiness, and do whatever your heart desires to be happy.

I also play the drum kit, but that was a long time ago. Now my daughter often plays
the drum kit and piano. I have several musical instruments at home because of my
daughter

Do you think life is fair?

What is more important to you, status, power, or money?

For me I would say status, because my profession as a doctor has always brought a
lot of recognistion to me both internationally and locally. This includes in
everything I have always wanted, and in all I can still aquire money and power from
my status as a doctor. So basically there is nothing left out in all. So I would go
for status anytime.
Since i married my husband, i stoped keeping friends, my husband was my only
friend. our love was very deep and we shared everything together and i was very
satified with his love and friendship
When my husband died, it's not only my my husband and father of my child who died
I also lost my best and only friend.

True friendship cannot be forged overnight. It has to be tested by time over and
over again. Thank you for being my true

I have traveled to some places, and it is really a nice experience because I do

Where would you love to travel to next when you have the opportunity to go on a
vacation?
As for me, I really love being in the Bahamas. I love the environment there, the
cool breeze, the peaceful air, the calm sea and wind, and a lot of really kind
people.

How do you feel about getting older?

No doubts that as we grow older a lot changes constantly. I mean basically looks,
but this doesn't mean we have changed in our hearts, for me I still feel very
young, nothing changed from my youthful days, only slight changes in my looks of
course, but I believe once the heart is willing there is no limitation to what we
can all achieve. So getting older has not been a bad experience for me, now I just
want to explore more about life and get commited to the things I failed to do
during my youthful age because I believe there is a lot of more opportunity for me
now.

Well, the mind should constantly develop optimism, learning new knowledge, proper
nutrition, sports, taking care of our health and aging will be a joy

I believe, old age is a gift, and I always wanted this gift when I grew up, it's
really great for me and I'm happy to have come this far at my age. I still know
that the old days will bring more blessings when I finally retire and I will have
the opportunity to rest and now explore more beautiful places around the world and
learning other experiences. It will be great for me but all of this beauty would
not be great if you don't have a partner who would be your bestfriend in aging
times to share in all of this gift and life's beauty with you, and I forgot to
mention that you still look very beautiful like a girl in her early youths.

It's really great for me and I'm happy to have come this far at my age. I still
know that the old days will bring more blessings when I finally retire and I will

As for me I do love flowers as well, I really love roses, I have a garden in the
UK, I have really missed watering them.

My home is being cared for by a property company that also takes part in home cares
and maintenance.

Do you like animals?

I love animals so much, but my job is a very busy and demanding one. So I 抳 e not
had the time to raise any personal pets.

Do you have any allergies?

Yes, I'm allergic to garlic in food and product, and this has become very difficult
for me because garlic is found in most food and products. So I always have to go
through menu's carefully all the time and this is really tiring for me most times.

Are you an introvert or extrovert?

I would discribe myself as an extrovert, because I'm an outgoing socially confident
person. I'm a person who is concernced primarily with my physical and social
environment.
Although I'm a bit reserved with somethings, I still tend to meet well with social
settings without stress.

Are you a spontaneous person?

Yes, I am a spontaneous person because sometimes I take actions even without plans
and still not have a fear that something might go wrong in the end. So generally, I
will say I'm an optimist, everyday I wake up being hopeful for a brighter day
because I'm confident the future holds better tidings for us all.

Are you a politically inclined person and do you like to take part in elections to
make your vote count in the society for a more desirable government?
I'm not particularly interested in politics, and we have corruption in our country,
and it is quite developed. My country and the people of my country are only
maturing politically, and this is an understanding of responsibility and an
understanding that no one except us will do anything for our city and society, and
these elections very clearly show progress in this matter.

I like to vote and make my vote count, not for any political interest but because I
want a good society. A more conducive community and society for my daughter to be
raised and be brought up in a perfect country where there is no fear, bad
governance, political horrors or terrors.

I want a change for the society for myself and the people around me, but my best
hope for a governance is so my daughter can grow in a country where there is change
and discipline.

Not a country like Yemen where there is so much killing of innocent souls and also
bad governance.

Environment is the biggest factor that affects our kids, no doubts that society has
one of the greatest impact on our kids.

TRUST
The most expensive thing in the world is trust. It can take years to earn & just a
matter of seconds to lose.

Trust is like a mirror, once it 抯 broken, you can never look at it the same again

Never trust a person that has let you down more than 2 times. Once was a warning,
twice was a lesson and anything more than that is simply taking advantage.

Trust a person to the extent that he feels guilty to cheat you. Love a person to
the extent that he fears to loose you

Trust is the glue of life. It 抯 the most essential ingredient in effective

communication. It 抯 the foundational principle that holds all relationship

If you want to be trusted, be honest. if you want to be honest , be true. if you

Want to be true, be yourself

Never trust someone who lies to you. Never lie to someone who trusts you

Trust is the hardest thing to gain and the easiest thing to lose, to be trusted is
a greater compliment than to be loved

I 抳 e learned that it takes years to build up trust, and it only takes suspicion,
not proof, to destroy it.

How do you build trust? Trust is earned when everyone 抯 interests are considered
and respected. Communication is the key to do this

What personality trait do you value most and which do you dislike the most?
Respect for others, responsibility optimism and the ability to enjoy life. I like
honesty the most and I hate pessimism, shifting responsibility to others, gossip,
lies. It breaks my heart when a person is dishonest and this is my biggest turnoff
in a person.
I respect people who act according to their beliefs and desires.

I like the way you think and also your excellent sense of reasoning.

Who has influenced your life the most?

Books and the Internet. When I got the Internet, I started to learn everything new
that I was interested in, I like to study a lot, at first I just absorbed the
information, and then I began to think and analyze.
Reading book and listening to clips from Dr Ben Carson, particularly, his books and
messages has really changed me and possitively influence my life.

How do you react when you are hurt?

I either take a long walk while listening to music or I take sometime out to the
sea side, listen to really calm songs and then watch the calm seas.
When it hurts mentally, I withdraw into myself, It's easier to be cheerful and
smile than to show your pain and helplessness.

The glue that holds all relationships together including the relationship between
the leader and the led is trust, and trust is based on integrity

Broken trust is like a melted chocolate, no matter how you tried to freeze it, it
will never return to its original Shape

When someone breaks your trust. Don 抰 feel stupid for trusting them. You didn 抰 do
anything wrong, they 抮 e just an untrustworthy person.

Be careful about who you trust and tell your problems to. Not everyone who smiles
at you is your friend

If you have three people in your life that you can trust, you can consider yourself
the luckiest person in the whole world

The point of building trust is for others to believe what you say. However,
building trust requires not only keeping the promises you make but also not making

A month a ago myself and my team of doctors and some military soldiers embarked
from very deadly mission.
Some VIP Chiefs in the Northern Part of Yemen were kidnapped.

While we were trying to rescue the chiefs in the Northern part of Yemen a lot of
