Poem 3#: Free Verse
I'm right where you left me
Torn apart, feeling an empty hole in my heart
You left as you came
A bitter-sweetness in my dire life
But now I’m learning to take steps
Walk away from that place you left me
Replacing pain
With happy emotions
I’m right where you left me
Except now, I’ve moved many steps ahead

You just want to waste my time
Waste My Time You want to break my heart just to have a little fun

By: Essossa Where did you come from baby?

And why'd you keep bringing me down

You bring me down to feel pride and feed your ego

And If you don't want me baby

Then why would you keep me around

I want peace in my life

I won't let you cause me trauma

Just so you can walk away and leave be brokenhearted

You just want to waste my time

You want o break my heart and walk away

Poem #6: “I DO NOT UNDERSTAND”
I do not understand why Hispanic/Latino immigrants face constant cricsitim and
hatred
Why they are constantly perceived as criminals and drug-dealers on the news
Why when they come seeking a better life not just for them but their kids
It is not fair to represent them all as criminals
What I do understand is they are not criminals but people whose hands reflect
their hard work
Their hands which hold callous, cuts, are rough
I do not understand the hatred towards them, but I hope as a society one day they
will be treated with respect and not labeled
Poem #7: “Hands”
Memories
My Hands have touched my lover
My family
My friends
My sisters
Everything that has brought me joy
My hands hold in them memories that cannot be told
My hands hold the closeness I once felt
My hands have stories that can be told
Stories of learning to cook for the first time with my mom
Or when I first learned to braid my hair
Memories that I could do with my hands
My hands have touched my lover, family, friends, and sisters
But more importantly store memories
Poem #8: A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words
My Life
My family is my life
They are my pride
They are the reason behind my daily motivation
The reason I push through the obstacles I face
The reason I wake up and think today is going
to be a great day
My family is my life
Without them, I would be lost
Without them, I would not have a dream or goal
My sister have brought me a different meaning
in life
They make me think things are possible
And they make me proud to go and fight for it
My family is my pride and joy
Everything I do is for them
For the day that they will be proud of me
Poem #9:Artwork Poetry
Lost Soul
Lost soul navigating through the world
A world that deems you as crazy
A world which does not understand
You walk in a fantasy world
Where the world does not deem you crazy
But the world praises you
However, reality is disheartening
And you must face it
You feel as though you might just go crazy
With all of society’s pressures and rules
Lost soul you have to regain your sanity
For this world will either rip you or praise you
