dent of India, Droupadi
Murmu, on the second day of
her two-day J&K visit, paid
obeisance at the sanctum
sanctorum of the holy cave
shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno
Devi on Thursday.
She prayed for the pros-
perity and well-being of
fellow citizens.
This was her first visit as
President to the holy shrine.
President Murmu was
accompanied by Lieuten-
ant Governor Manoj Sinha
during her visit to the
shrine. Earlier they arrived
in Jammu where they were
received at the airport by
Mayor Jammu Municipal
Corporation (JMC) Rajinder
Sharma, Divisional Com-
missioner Jammu Ramesh
Kumar and IGP Jammu
Zone Anand Jain.
On arrival at the Pan-
chhi helipad, the President
was received by Anshul
Garg, Chief Executive Offi-
cer (CEO) of the Shri Mata
Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
The President inaugu-
rated various state-of-the-
art pilgrim-centric facilities
at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi
shrine.
These included a ing hall, seating arrange-
250-meter-long and 2.5-meter-
wide skywalk project at an
elevation of 20 feet above the
existing track.
It has been constructed
in a record 14 months at Rs
15.69 crore to overcome the
problem of the multidirec-
tional flow of yatra.
The skywalk is equipped
with modernised facilities
like wooden flooring as a
preventive measure for
devotees' comfort in harsh
weather conditions, a wait-
ments for about 150 yatris,
LED screens, resting rooms
and two emergency exits.
The pedestrian flyover
(skywalk) has an aesthetical-
ly designed entrance with an
artistically embellished por-
trayal of ‘Nav Durga’ to give
an enriched experience for
devotees, hence aptly chris-
tened as ‘Nav Durga Path’.
After its commencement,
entry and exit routes lead-
ing to the sanctum sancto-
rum have been separated
to ensure systematic and
smooth movement of the
yatra.

Srinagar, Oct 12: Widespread inter-
mittent light to moderate rains in the

connects Srinagar with Leh, was
closed due to heavy snow accumula-
tion at the Zojila pass.
The weather also affected the
normal life in the plains of Kashmir.
A group of about 40 Army person-
nel from the High-Altitude Warfare
School (HAWS) and the Army Adven-
ture Wing of the Indian Army were
caught in an avalanche while under-
going routine training activities at
Mount Kun in Ladakh.
Four of them were buried under the
snow, and one of them succumbed to
his injuries.

Srinagar, Oct 12: The Computer
Emergency Response Team (CERT-In)
has issued a high-severity-rated warn-
ing cautioning against multiple vulner-
abilities in the popular web browser
Google Chrome, which could allow a
remote attacker to execute arbitrary
code and cause a denial of service con-
dition on the targeted system.
CERT-In, which comes under the Min-
istry of Electronics and Information Tech-
nology, Government of India, issued the
alert in response to the tech giant’s recent
revelation of numerous vulnerabilities
in its ubiquitous browser platform that
might be exploitable by malicious entities.
These vulnerabilities could poten-
tially allow hackers to execute arbi-
trary code, gain unauthorised access to
sensitive information, or cause Denial
of Service (DoS) attacks.
This development poses cyber secu-
rity challenges to millions of Google
Chrome users, jeopardising their
online safety and data privacy.
“A remote attacker could
allow these vulnerabilities by
executing a specially craft-
ed HTML page," CERT-In
said in a statement.
CERT-In is the nation-
al nodal agency for
responding to computer
security incidents as and
when they happen.
These vulnerabilities exist
in Google Chrome due to heap buffer
overflow in vp8 encoding libvpx, and
use-after-free error in passwords and
extensions.
Successful exploitation of these vul-
nerabilities could allow an attacker to
execute arbitrary code, bypass security
restrictions, or cause a DoS condition on
the targeted system, the CERT-In said.
The CERT said that these vulner-
abilities could affect desktop versions
before 117.0.5938.132 and CERT-In has
recommended applying appropri-
ate updates.
A popular method amongst
these is to entice unsuspect-
ing internet users into vis-
iting malicious websites.
These concealed cyber
threats exploit user vul-
nerabilities, allowing
hackers to infiltrate their
systems with ease.
CERT-In has urged the users
to upgrade Google Chrome browser
immediately for the affected software.
Furthermore, the cyber security organ-
isation recommends users keep their
browsers and other software up to date
to avoid future dangers.

for 19.65%. Thus, adding the SC and
ST groups, as also belonging to the
broad spectrum of Hinduism, the total
percentage of the lower caste groups
moves up to over 83% of the popula-
tion while relegating the upper castes
to just about 15.5 %. That includes
5% upper caste Muslims out of a total
Muslim population of over 17.7%.
This has not only upset the BJP’s
electoral calculations but also aimed
at redrawing the caste configuration
for the purpose of higher reservations,
proportionate to their population
share, in educational institutions and
employment. Thus, Rahul Gandhi’s
slogan, Jitni aabadi utna haq has found
an echo among the opposition groups
which have added their voice to the
increasing demand on the BJP for a
nation-wide caste census.
The Supreme Court has ruled
against a stay on the CCS, supporting
the Patna High Court’s order of Aug 1,
for allocating governance benefits and
marking reservations for the hitherto
uncounted groups.
It may be noted that a day after the
survey was released, the Nitish Kumar
government allocated a 10% quota for
the economically weaker sections in
the State judicial services and State-
run law colleges and universities,
thus stealing a march over the BJP
which had introduced such a category
to assuage the upper castes fixing an
income criterion with an annual ceil-
ing of Rs 8 lakhs. States such as Kar-
nataka, Odisha, MP, Maharashtra and
Haryana have already completed their
OBC surveys while Rajasthan has com-
mitted to bring it out after the State
elections.
Once the socio-economic status data
of the State caste surveys are out, the
States can identify the most vulnerable
groups and plan policy measures and
empowerment schemes accordingly.
This will lead to greater empowerment
of the lowest rungs of society and the
emergence of new caste leaders where
new groups could vie for a greater
share in the social pie. With caste con-
figurations clearly demarcated, this
will throw up a number of regional
and sub-regional leaders and lead to
coalitions at the base and intermedi-
ary levels.
This is a situation rife for a Mandal
2.0 with the demand for greater bar-
gaining power among the lower castes
of society will pre-empt the BJP’s move
to gain dividends from the opening of
opposition of playing the caste card
while mentioning that poverty is the
biggest caste, meaning that the State
governments should be more mindful
of addressing poverty instead of divid-
ing society in the name of caste, this
seems like a knee-jerk reaction. The
ruling party may not be able to con-
tain the rising tide of OBC and lower
caste demands through their local and
regional interlocutors. In that sense,
the BJP’s ideologically-imposed har-
mony and equality for the subaltern
classes is very likely to give way to a
constitutionally-sanctioned equality
buttressed by judicial scrutiny at the
highest levels.

and identity for real empowerment.
That, alas, is not going to happen.
Rather the obverse will come true,
of further fragmentation of the OBC
groups in a bid to regain their iden-
tity within the structure of recognised
religion. However, in this quest for a
new identity and aspiration to be equal
stakeholders in societal development,
the OBCs should be vigilant about not
losing their demand for greater atten-
tion of the State for their security, pros-
perity and justice.

here are, generally speaking, angry
people everywhere. Very few spouses,
children, students, subordinates, col-
leagues can afford not to be anxious
about anger from others around them.
But the very definition of a Muslim is that
others feel safe in his presence. For Shaykh
al-Alam Nund Reshi this means anger doesn’t
behove a Muslim. Anger is one of the seven
deadly sins in the Bible and not something to
be taken lightly. If we really understood the
other as virtually God sent or deserving infi-
nite care and reverence, we would restrain
from anger. I don’t know of a single person
including myself from whom one could take
amnesty from anger for granted. Let us medi-
tate on this problem to heal our relationships
and make our homes and office spaces more
humane.
Krodh no Muslamanes pazae is one of the
most succinct and characteristic poems of
Rishi corpus of Kashmir presenting in few
stanzas ethico-spiritual content of Rishiyyat
framed in Islamic terms. I don’t find any
significant reason to diverge from the fol-
lowing version in Bayhiqi, translated below,
(except two words indicating voice in the last
stanza). The specific reasons for preferring
Bayhiqi text have been well presented by
Naji Munawaar in his preface and Prof. Shafi
Shoaq in his foreword to Kuliyati Shaykh al-
Alam, a landmark achievement in Reshi stud-
ies that needs to be noted by every scholar
and student of Rishi thought. This is edited
and annotated first kuliyat of the poetry of
Shaykh al-Alam that Mir Abdullah Bayhiqi
compiled and as such we owe a great debt to
both Bayhiqi and Naji Munawar.
With anger your lose all wealth
With anger all virtue is gone
Anger is a thief for your treasure
Anger doesn’t behove a Muslim
He whose throne spanned heavens
What happened to it once?
Solomon had to live in the house of fisher-
man
Anger doesn’t behove a Muslim
Don’t look at other’s woman
That shall burn away this and the other
world
That shall blemish your faith
Anger doesn’t behove a Muslim

Here is summed up what the author of
brilliant work Inside the Soul of Islam points
about anger.
The only advice given to one of those who
approached for it to the Prophet (SAW) was
“Don’t become angry.” Note it is don’t become
angry and not just “Do not display anger
towards others.” A veto against becoming
angry from the Prophet, on whom be peace.
Peace and surrender that constitute keys to
one’s affirmation of Islam are expressible in
negative terms as don’t become angry. Learn-
ing to let go of anger is what may be enough
to redeem so many of us. Forbearance and
humility that cut at the root of anger have
been described as qualities of all the prophets.
When we understand our feelings come from
thoughts and not not external events as such.
We block the very fount of anger. Understand-

We’re unwittingly using our imaginations
to take the power (to cause feelings) away
from Allah, and putting it in the hands of
the object. If I think a person or a situation
or a thing is making me feel a certain way in
essence, I’m imagining that the thing has a
power that, in reality, belongs only to Allah,
the All-Powerful. When we say the formula,
There is no might or power except Allah,’
this includes the power to cause feelings. By
understanding that Allah directly causes our
feelings via thought, without needing any
physical object to cause them, we free our
minds from the shackles of psychological
idolatry and return to the truth of psycho-
logical unity. Allah becomes our ally.
Sydney Banks’ point ‘The sicknesses of the
mind are feelings that we create and put onto
objects. But if you can see the objects without
the feelings, you are healthy.’ translates this
insight into simpler language. (Yusaf, 2017:
227).
Mamoon builds on the great mantra in The
Purification of the Heart of Imam Mawlud
“Repel anger by perceiving at its onset that
no one is doing anything in reality except the
Almighty” to build his case against anger. “If
we take ‘no one is doing anything’ to mean
‘no one is causing your anger’ (because angry
feelings only come from angry thinking), then
we have a precise description of how a mind
trained in the Inside-Out Paradigm might
react: angry feelings only come from angry
thinking.”
The poem may be read as Reshi defini-
tion of a Muslim in terms of transcendence
of anger which is an assertion of agency/
will. To become angry is, ordinarily (as dis-
tinguished from what has been called “holy
anger”), failure to live to the ideality of Islam
as one who is available to the other or makes
for peace. Anger is to be avoided for one’s
spiritual health as it negates one’s worship
and destroys the treasure of good. The very
essence of faith gets endangered by anger
understood as a manifestation of othering.
The light of the scripture, the Criterion, is
what keeps the Devil at bay. Parting with
what is dear to oneself and obedience to the
Master or welcoming the Guest are all chains
in the links of assertion of self will. The Unity
and fellowship of man require one say no
to othering or self assertion manifested in
anger. The poem makes series of points all
as one medieval mystic has put it, death over-
comes all arrogance or assertion of self will
of which anger is a quintessential expression.
We must account for every small act or do

Agnes Callard has drawn our attention to a
long tradition of thinkers, with roots in ancient
Stoicism and Buddhism, who think that we

diagnosed anger as a form of madness and Indian
philosopher and monk Śāntideva enjoined those
wishing to travel the road of enlightenment to
eliminate even the smallest seeds of anger. In
our times, the philosopher Martha Nussbaum
draws on Seneca and the Stoic tradition to argue
that anger is an intrinsically mistaken venge-
ful and destructive attitude. Owen Flanagan,
drawing on both Śāntideva’s Buddhism and a
Confucian-inflected metaphysics, sees anger as
an intrinsically hostile attitude, one that falsely
presupposes a self-centered metaphysics of indi-
viduals. However, we have equally distinguished
line of thinkers who have noted uses of anger,
especially what has been called holy anger.
What unites these diverse streams of thought
is the tacit recognition of self agency or self-
centredness as a problem that we are required
to overcome. Multiple uses of anger (and other
drives) have been noted by various thinkers. One
can use anger, for instance, to protest against
evil, to assert self dignity as distinguished from
self centredness, to condemn injustice. Ghazzali
and others have noted and emphasized the
point that the Prophet never became angry.
Schuon’s comments about it in his work
Sufis: Veil and Quintessence are noteworthy:
… one certainly does not expect this of him,
and yet Moses and Jesus did exhibit holy
anger; how can one believe that Muhammad—
an Arab and a warrior—never did so? Aisha
reports that the soul of the Prophet was like
the Koran; now the Koran expresses anger by
informing us—and assuring us—of the Wrath
of God.
Ghazzali’s point may, however, be under-
stood by noting that he denies that the Prophet
expressed anger for a personal reason or what
manifested self will.
Prescriptions against anger needn’t be
construed as succumbing to indifference or
passivity. As Schuon explains:
The morality that offers the other cheek—so
far as morality can here be spoken of—does
not mean an unwonted solicitude toward one’s
adversary, but complete indifference toward
the fetters of this world, or more precisely a
refusal to let oneself be caught up in the vicious
circle of terrestrial causations.
Thich Nath Hanh in his book Anger:
Wisdom for Cooling the Flames succinctly
explains what is wrong with anger:
According to the Buddha’s teachings, the
most basic condition for happiness is freedom.
Here we do not mean political freedom, but
freedom from the mental formations of anger,
despair, jealousy, and delusion. These mental
formations are described by the Buddha as
poisons. As long as these poisons are still in our
heart, happiness cannot be possible.
When a person’s speech is full of anger, it
is because he or she suffers deeply. Because he
has so much suffering, he becomes full of bit-
terness. He is always ready to complain and
blame others for his problems.
The Bible states: “If it is possible, as far as
it depends on you, live at peace with every-
one. Do not take revenge, my friends, but
leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written:
“It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the
Lord” (Romans 12:17-21). This wisdom has
been echoed in many forms by diverse writers
and analysts. For instance, “The world needs
anger. The world often continues to allow
evil because it isn’t angry enough” (Bede Jar-
ratt) and “He who angers you conquers you”
(Elizabeth Kenny). Anger is usually received
as psychological violence and is regretted by
the one who expresses it. Conquest of it is to
enter the safe refuge or become mu’min. A
beautiful soul would be loved for kindness
and not feared for anger.

he beginning of Hazrat Sheikh’s
poetry is related to his life expe-
riences. It seems that he found
his way to sainthood and poetry
from the very beginning of his
life. He was influenced by the poetic
sayings of Lal Arifah and continued
to walk through every stage of life
with a poetic approach. When he goes
to acquire education, he corners his
teacher with such words that are
immersed in knowledge and poetry.
When Sheikh was four years and
four months old, his mother took him
to a school for education. The teacher
wrote the letters of the alphabet and
taught him to read from Alif to Fatah.
After reading Alif, Sheikh remained
silent. The teacher tried to get him
to speak, but Sheikh did not utter a
word. Finally, at the insistence of the
teacher, he spoke:
Oh, unaware of the meaning and
ent. That’s why I refrained. But who
can make you comprehend this?
When he went to the weaver to
learn a craft, he found that the tools
of the weaver could become a source
of inspiration for a poet. The weaver
explains that the Maqoo tar (a type
of rope) is taken back and forth, and
it is straightened with zarb-e-koft (a
weaving technique). Sheikh inter-
prets this as the burden of livelihood
that a person carries, constantly run-
ning back and forth like the Maqoo
rope. When the rope is finished, it
signifies the end of the person’s run-
ning back and forth, implying death.
The weaver becomes troubled
by these words and believes that
this boy talks nonsense. He thinks
Sheikh is not suitable for weaving
work. The weaver then continues
working silently, while Sheikh sits
on one side, with his head down, lost
in deep thoughts. When his mother
ways, sometimes lifting their heads up
and sometimes lowering them. They
are signalling to us to leave from here.
Do not get stuck in trouble like us, the
world is not a place of rest. Saying
this, he got up and headed towards
the woods.
Once, while passing through
a town in south Kashmir, Sheikh
overheard a conversation between a
merchant and a seller. Intrigued, he
stopped to listen. The merchant was
discussing a particular item that he
was trying to sell but had found no
buyers in the market. He insisted that
the seller lower the price significantly
in order to make a sale. Reluctantly,
the seller agreed, and the merchant
purchased the item at the reduced
price, placing it in a corner.
Later, a customer arrived search-
ing specifically for that same item.
The merchant, seizing the oppor-
tunity, began extolling its virtues,
Observing this deceitful transac-
tion, Sheikh became incensed and
approached the merchant. Engag-
ing in a detailed dialogue, Sheikh’s
words had such a profound impact
on the merchant that he decided to
close his shop and adopt Sheikh’s
way of life, following his teachings
and guidance.
This incident exemplifies the
transformative power of Sheikh’s
influence on those he encountered.
Furthermore, when exploring the
biography of Sheikh, one can observe
a profound connection between his
saintliness and his poetry. Unlike
other poets whose inspiration often
stems from extraordinary events,
Sheikh’s poetic journey seemingly
commences from his very birth.
Kalam-e-Sheikh
Kalam-e-Sheikh is a collection
of Kashmiri poetry by Hazrat Nou-
ruddin Reshi, consisting of four sec-

sions and are used both in colloquial
and formal language. They are so uni-
versal that they are recited in not only
the courtyards and fields but also in

in terms of their subject matter. Their
specific themes include praise and
eulogy, advice and exhortation, and
truths and mysticism. Some poems
contain elements of love poetry, and
their boundaries often blur with
those of traditional ghazals. Among
them, “Gongal Nama” stands out as
an example of Sheikh’s fondness for
the use of metaphor.
3. Makaalay (Dialogue poems)
Sheikh’s Dialogue poems are

This is a collection of 130 initial
issues in Islamic jurisprudence, writ-
ten in the form of poetry similar to
“Nam-e-Haq” and attributed to Sheikh.
The issues relate to ablution and prayer

impurity, doubtful matters, and usage
of water, obligations of ablution, the
sunnah of ablution, obligations of bath-
ing, the sunnah of bathing, , pillars of
prayer, conditions of prayer, and so on.
Furthermore, his Sanskrit and
other poems are also included in the
“Rishi Nama”, but due to incoherent
writing and calligraphy, they cannot
be read.

President Murmu arrived here
Wednesday morning for her two-day
maiden visit.
On her arrival at the Srinagar
International Airport, the President
was received by Lt Governor Manoj
Sinha, Chief Secretary Arun Kumar
Mehta, and other officials.
She was given a guard of hounor
at the airport and later flown to the
15 Corps Headquarters here where
the President laid a wreath and paid
floral tributes to soldiers who died in
the line of duty.
Being the supreme commander of
the Indian Army, she was received
by senior Army Generals besides the
J&K administration at Badami Bagh
Cantonment Helipad.
From 15 Corps headquarters,
President Murmu drove to the Uni-
versity of Kashmir (KU) campus and
addressed the KU convocation.
The convocation marked a sig-
nificant milestone in the academic
journey of the students who have
completed their courses between
2021 and mid-2023.
Addressing the convocation, Pres-
ident Murmu said that the country
was proud of the responsible Kash-
miri youth.
She had urged the KU students to
actively participate in social service
along with their studies.
President Murmu said that by
doing this, they could bring social
change and set an example.
She expressed happiness to note
that the KU alumni had brought
glory to the varsity by serving the
country.
Referring to KU’s motto ‘From
Darkness to Light’, President
Murmu said, “The more our youth
move towards the light of education
and the light of peace, the more our
country will progress.”
LG Sinha also spoke during the
KU convocation.
Thanking the President for
addressing the KU’s convocation
ceremony, the LG said that learning
should be lifelong.
“It will help in critical and analyt-

and enable the youth to steadily con-

formation of our fastest-growing

ploded mines that were lying
following 1962 war, officials
said on Thursday.
The sanitisation drive

the demand of locals living
along the Line of Actual Con-
trol (LAC) in Ladakh. Offi-
cials said that Fire and Fury
Corps made a swift effort to
secure the region by fenc-

Minister Narendra Modi
on Thursday said that new
possibilities are being cre-
ated for the youth as India's
economy is expanding and
unemployment is decreas-
ing fast in India.
In a virtual address at Kaush-
al Dikshant Samaroh 2023,
the Prime Minister said that
employment creation in India
has reached a new height and
the unemployment rate in India
is at its lowest level in six years
according to a recent survey.
Noting that unemploy-
ment is decreasing rapidly in
both rural and urban areas of
India, PM Modi emphasised
that the benefits of develop-
ment are reaching both vil-
lages and cities equally, and
as a result, new opportuni-
ties are increasing equally in
both villages and cities.
He also pointed out the
unprecedented increase in
the participation of women
in India's workforce and
credited the impact of the
schemes and campaigns that
have been launched in India
in the past years regarding
women empowerment.
Addressing the gathering,
the prime minister remarked
that this festival of skill devel-
opment is unique in itself and
"today’s event of joint convoca-
tion of skill development insti-
tutions across the country is a
very commendable initiative".
He said that Kaushal Dik-
shnat Samaroh reflects the
priorities of today's India.
Acknowledging the presence
of thousands of youth con-
nected with this event through
technology, Modi conveyed his
best wishes to all the youth.
He highlighted the impor-
tance of the power of the youth
in utilising the strengths of
any country such as its natu-
ral or mineral resources, or
its long coastlines and said
that the country develops
more with stronger youth
power thereby doing justice
to the nation’s resources.
PM Modi emphasised

Pithoragarh district in
Uttarakhand where he
performed the 'darshan'
of Adi Kailash and offered
his prayers there.

sance to Lord Shiva and
Goddess Parvati, and per-
formed meditation there.

also visited the Parvati
Kund temple located near
the Adi Kailash where he
meditated for some time at
the entrance of the temple
before entering it and per-

visit to Uttarakhand where
he first visited the Adi
Kailash and then Gunji

The death toll in the ongoing
Israel-Hamas conflict in the
Gaza Strip has increased to
more than 2,500, with more
fatalities expected as the vio-
lence continued for a sixth
day on Thursday.
In a report, Israel's state-
owned Kan TV news said
that at least 1,300 Israelis
have died since the Hamas
launched its brutal assault
on October 7.
The Health Ministry said
3,268 people were injured, of
which 443 were still in hospitals,
reports Xinhua news agency.
Attempts to find bodies in
southern towns and villages
continued on Thursday,
Israeli authorities said.
Meanwhile, the Palestin-
ian Ministry of Health in
Gaza said on Thursday that
at least 1,203 Palestinians
have been killed and 5,763
others injured since Israel's
bombardment on the Hamas-
controlled enclave began
shortly after the attack.
In its latest situation
update, the UN Office for the
Coordination of Humanitar-
ian Affairs (OCHA) said that

the Kashmir Chamber of
Commerce and Industry
(KCCI) has demanded
the establishment of a
fact-finding committee to
delve into the underlying
factors responsible for the
ongoing power crisis in
Kashmir.
As the region grapples
with persistent electric-
ity shortages, the KCCI's
call for a comprehensive
inquiry seeks to illumi-
nate the root of this criti-
cal issue, raising ques-
tions about the reliability
and sustainability of the
energy infrastructure.
Javid Tenga, Presi-
dent Kashmir Chamber
of Commerce and Indus-
try, voiced his concerns,
emphasising, “Despite
assurances from the
authorities regarding the
procurement of addition-
al power from external
sources, the situation on
the ground has not seen
any improvement. This
power crisis is affecting
not only businesses and
industries but also the
people's lives.”
He further added,
“KCCI firmly requests
the Lt Governor's adminis-
tration to establish a fact-
finding Committee aimed
at identifying the prob-
lematic links responsible
for the plight of consum-
ers, especially our vul-
nerable citizens such as
senior citizens, the sick,
students, and the vital
sectors of health, educa-
tion, industries, tourism,
industrial estates, CA
stores, shopkeepers, and
traders due to the per-
sistent power shortages
during the impending cold
winter months.”
The KCCI in a statement
it has been closely moni-
toring the increasingly
erratic electric power
supply situation in the
valley over the past several
weeks, which has severely
impacted all types of trade
and businesses, as well as
households.
The Chamber expressed
its grave concern and dis-
appointment with the con-
tradictory policies of the
Kashmir Power Distribu-
tion Corporation Limited.
The KPDCL had prom-
ised an uninterrupted
flawless electric supply
with the installation
of smart meters. Still,
the power supply has
been erratic throughout
the summer, and now,
the Department has
announced a scheduled
power supply instead of
ensuring regular supply,
the chamber said.
“A week ago, the
KPDCL announced that
it had procured 400 MW
from Uttar Pradesh and
was negotiating for anoth-
er 150 MW from the centre
to alleviate the power
shortage. However, noth-
ing has happened since
then, and the Department
is introducing a winter
power curtailment sched-
ule, even though it is
still autumn when power
demand is lower than in
the winter months.”
The situation remains
precarious, leaving resi-
dents and businesses in
Kashmir in dire straits as
they grapple with an ongo-
ing power crisis.
(GVEI) is gearing up to host
the Khadijah Memorial Crick-
et Cup-2023, an annual inter-
school cricket tournament.
A statement said that the
event is scheduled to take place
on October 14 at the campus
of GVEI Elahi Bagh Buchpora.
This tournament will see
participation from 16 top
schools of the Valley, show-
casing young cricketing tal-
ents in the region.

of the saleable trout stocks

fetch better returns to the
fish farmers.
Director Fisheries
stressed taking short-term
emergent measures for
developing market linkages
in Metropolitan cities to pro-
mote the delicacy of Kash-
mir Trout which has unique
medicinal and nutritional

tuted to explore the point of
contact at various Fish mar-
kets/ Warehouses for facili-

ing of the fish produce which
has enhanced/ increased
manifolds by the endeavours
of the Department of Fisher-
ies through the implementa-
tion of the various Centrally

The emphasis was laid on

atability among the fish-lov-
ing community/ consumers.
