Part I

PURPOSE
The purpose of this assignment is to enhance learners’ skills to apply basic accounting
concepts and prepare a trial balance.

Question 1

Describe two qualitative characteristics of accounting information; reliable and

comparable; and explain how each characteristic is useful in interpreting the financial
statements.

ASSIGNMENT 2 (CLO2)

The following transactions of Kemilau Enterprise occurred during the month of March
2023:

March 1 Kamal, the owner of Kemilau Enterprise, invested RM50,000 of his personal
savings into the company’s account.
2 Rented office space and paid RM1,200 cash for the month of March.
3 Purchased office equipment for RM30,000, paying RM8,000 cash and the
balance to be paid in one year period.
4 Purchased office supplies for RM750 cash.
8 Completed services for a client and received RM2,700 cash for the services.
15 Completed services for RM3,600 for a client on credit.
20 Received RM3,600 from a client for the work completed on 15 March.
28 Paid the office secretary’s monthly salary, RM1,200 cash.
30 Kamal withdrew RM2,000 for his personal use.

You are required to:

a) Analyse the effects of the above transactions on the accounting equation by using
the following table:

Urus niaga - urus niaga berikut bagi Kemilau Enterprise telah berlaku sepanjang bulan Mac
2023:
Tarikh Urus niaga – urus niaga
Mac 1 Kamal, pemilik Kemilau Enterprise melabur RM50,000 simpanan beliau ke
dalam akaun syarikat.
2 Menyewa ruang pejabat dan membayar tunai RM1,200 bagi bulan Mac.
3 Membeli peralatan pejabat sebanyak RM30,000, membayar tunai RM8,000
dan baki akan dibayar dalam tempoh satu tahun.
4 Membeli bekalan pejabat RM750 tunai.
8 Menyelesaikan perkhidmatan untuk seorang klien dan menerima tunai
RM2,700 untuk perkhidmatan tersebut.
15 Menyelesaikan perkhidmatan sebanyak RM3,600 untuk seorang klien secara
kredit.
20 Menerima RM3,600 dari klien bagi kerja yang telah diselesaikan pada 15
Mac.
28 Membayar gaji bulanan setiausaha pejabat, RM1,200 tunai.
30 Kamal mengeluarkan RM2,000 untuk kegunaan peribadi beliau.
