DeLaRue TCR Twin Safe Installation and Technical Data

1 Short Description of the System

The TCR Twin Safe is designed to be used as two working positions. In normal
conditions it will be situated between the two working positions, integrated in an
open desk environment. The TCR Twin Safe can also be placed in a free stand-
ing position in a back desk environment.

Illustration 1 TCR Twin Safe operation standing and sitting

The storage system for the banknotes is situated in the safe and is partly cov-
ered by the housing. The power supply and the main part of the controller is also
found inside of the safe.
The interface units for communication to the outside have been rear of the TCR
Twin Safe facing outwards. The ventilation slits are also positioned on this side.
They serve to disperse heat from the electronic components, and must not be
covered or blocked.

Options
As optional extensions can be added a safemaster coin and banknote storage
system (maximum 2 units), printer, divers burglar and robbery alarm systems
and a network interface unit.

Depending on the customers wishes, the TCR Twin Safe can be operated offline
or integrated into the EDP system.

2 Pre-installation Procedures at Location

2.1 General
Planning, realization and monitoring of the pre-installation procedures according
to the installation instructions incumbent to the corresponding bank or institute.

The incumbent bank or institute is further required to provide an ON- / OFF

switch for the mains power supply. Over the same switch it should be also be
possible to turn on and off other options such as Safemaster, printer etc.

2.2 Space requirements

The dimensions for installation of the device can be taken from out of the techni-
cal diagrams included in this instruction and technical data manual (page 12).

2.3 Evenness of the floor

On the floor space of the TCR Twin Safe, there must be an evenness of mini-
mum 3mm.

2.4 Ventilation
After the installation of the TCR Twin Safe, above and beside the ventilation slits
must be a ventilation shaft of minimum 50cm2 for the heat dissipation.

3 Installation Preparations

3.1 Electrical installations

WARNING:
If the local house installation regulations requires an overcurrent circuit breaker
< 10A, then a separate mains connection with overcurrent circuit breaker and
earth-leakage circuit breaker will be necessary. As an overcurrent circuit breaker
a protection 10A is recommended. For safety reasons, no supplementary circuits
for non-relevant system devices etc. may be installed coming behind the power
surge circuit breaker, respective, residual current circuit switch.

Important The device will only be completely free of electricity when the mains power sup-
note ply plug is disconnected (unplugged). That is why the protected contact socket
must be clearly marked and have easy access to it at all times

Warning If the TCR Twin Safe is connected to an electrical power supply that is not
equipped with a direct earthed protection conductor, then the safe must be con-
nected directly to earth over a separate protected circuit conductor from the sys-
tem.
A connection for this protection circuit can be found on the rear side of the safe
next to the mains power supply connection.

3.3 Requirements to begin the Installation Procedure

The installation by DeLaRue can begin when the following requirements have
been fulfilled:

Transport route • The transport routes for delivery of the device are free. (the clear width
and height dimensions as well as the condition of the floor surface
including, landings, steps etc. have all been taken into account).
• The pre-installation requirements, especially environmental proce-
dures corresponding to dust emissions have all been completed.
Location site • Floor at location site has sufficient load factor, page 13.
• All on-site preparations have been completed.
• The location site is free, easily accessible and clean.
• All environmental conditions for operation can be met, page 14.

Electrical • FI-Switch (power protection switch), power surge circuit breaker and
connections mains supply connection have been installed and are ready for opera-
tion, page 24-18.

• The cabling procedures have been completed, page 18. All necessary
and various cable connections have been connected.
• All fuses (power overflow interrupt) and the mains power supply are
ready for operation.

Alarm unit • An appointment with a security company regarding connection of the

TCR Twin Safe to an alarm unit must also be reserved.

UPS • The device can be linked to a uninteruptable power supply UPS. The
TCR Twin Safe cannot be directly governed by a UPS, therefore the
UPS must have an optical or/and acoustic alarm when the power is
down. after the occurence of such a signal no new transaction must be
launched. The UPS musst meet the following requirements:
nominal tension 230 V mains.
Reactive nominal power leistung 1000VA
Maximal power output 700W
Maximal current 4,3 A.
time to switch over < 4ms
minimal capacity at full power output: 5 min.
The recreation time after a power down musst be as short as possible.

150 mm between the rear side of the device and the wall.

• The rear cover of the housing can be removed, i.e. for furniture form
installation or to make use of its area surface.
• The removal of the top cover must not be obstructed in any, i.e by fur-
niture fittings or parts.
• The sliding doors of the output compartment must be freely accessible
from both sides.
• The deposit compartment also be freely accessible from both sides.
• There must also be sufficient space available for opening up the safe
housing cover.

5 Installation

5.1 Installing the TCR Twin Safe

During transportation please make sure that the no damage has or can occur by
the use of any heavy machinery.
Before unloading the TCR Twin Safe a check must be made to make sure the
floor load factor and floor unevenness levels conform to the requirements laid
down in section 4.3 concerning floor load factors.

Illustration 6 Overburden bumps or channels

Carpet bumps, cable channels and any other weakness factors of the floor must
be bridged over with strong and stabile sheet metal panels.

The TCR Twin Safe can be moved by simple means such as metal rods or
wooden planks from off the palette and on to the fork-lift truck.

Another possibility is the so called Bimobil that can be slid from the side under
the edge of the safe. Using hydraulics the safe can then be raised or moved into
position.

Installation and Technical Data DeLaRue TCR Twin Safe

Illustration 7 Transport of the TCR Twin Safe to its location

Difficult floor surfaces such as carpets, tiles etc. must be protected by placing
cardboard cartons over them. Whenever roll types of transport are used pay
attention that the weight mass is concentrated on as little an area as possible in
order to reduce the chances of damage occurring to the floor or its coverings.

Illustration 8 Placing the TCR Twin Safe at its location

Maneuver the TCR Twin Safe with its conducting antistatic mat into position and
then cut away the overlapping rest of the mat using a carpet knife. Please make
sure that no damage has happened to the floor or its under coverings.

7 Commissioning
Note Between installation and the first commissioning of the TCR Twin Safe
there must be a time interval in order to allow the temperature of the
device to adapt to the environmental temperature of the on-site location
(approx. 12 hours).

7.1 Starting up the system

• Set the switch position on the MCU to “Operation”

• Slide in the chassis until the stop point in the safe has been reached.
The mechanical locking unit must have been visually and audibly
engaged. The safe door is open.

• The TCR Twin Safe is connected to the mains. In the operating posi-
tion (door switch has been turned to the service position with the spe-
cial key) a start-up test will be automatically carried out:
– TCR Twin Safe will perform a function test, during this test the sys-
tem data and counter positions will be loaded into the system.
– As soon as the optional journal receives the message:

then the function test has been successfully completed and the safe door
can now be closed. If there is no printer available, make one note deposit
and one note withdrawal procedure at each individual RSM.

• The TCR Twin Safe is now ready for operation using the user levels
available and the terminal software.

The configuration of the device can be continued.
