Evaluation
It is a good book to read or not?
● Full of confusion and conflicts, it is full of tension and
complexity due to a series of childhood events surrounding
Charlie.
● It is an interesting and beautiful book, it tells Charlie's life in
first person.
● It is a book that can mark your adolescence because of the
portrayal of problems and traumas of a teenager. It internalizes
the reality that is not seen much in any book.
● It is a book that you should read at least once in your life.
Recommendation
Should you read this book?
● I think this book show us a different perspective, from a
different person, with a different way of thinking and acting.
● The way the story progresses is so subtle that you don't realize
when he has already taken a turn from the beginning.
● It is a book that, although it focuses on the classic dilemmas of
identity and belonging that every adolescent experiences,
throughout the film it addresses aggressive situations
● I recommend it for anyone over the age of 12 because
although this book is focused on adolescents, it will touch
everyone's heart.
Sexual Child Abuse
Global Issue
● We can see the instability and problems of Charlie due to the abuse of Aunt
Helen towards him.
● Charlie was a restrained and withdrawn, he always repressed the
mistreatment he suffered because his Aunt Helen was his favorite person.
● This book makes you think about psychological help, how important
boundaries are and how listening to people can be a great help.
● Sexual violence can have a profound impact on physical and mental health.
Child abuse can be seen in the real wolrd in different forms.
-When I fell asleep, I had this dream. My brother and my sister and I were watching
television with my Aunt Helen. Everything was in slow motion. The sound was thick.
And she was doing what Sam was doing. That’s when I woke up.(105)

-But I kind of figured out that everything I dreamt about my aunt Helen was true.
And after a while, I realized that it happened every Saturday when we would watch
television.(108)
