Read the passage and answer the questions that follow
One day, Saint George traveled over land and sea. He came to
a land where he met a poor old man. The old man asked Saint
George to sit with him by the fire and have some food.
‘You have come here at a very bad time,’ said the old man. ‘A
dragon is destroying our country. Every day, the dragon orders us
to bring him a young girl to eat. Soon there will be no girls left.
The only girl remaining is the king’s beautiful daughter, Princess
Sabra.’
Saint George thought about what the old man had told him.
The next day, Saint George set out to find the dragon and stop it
eating the princess. Saint George saw the dragon waiting for the
princess. Saint George rushed down the hill on his horse.
When the dragon saw Saint George, the dragon roared with a
noise louder than thunder. The dragon’s head was huge, its tail
was long, and its eyes looked angry.
Next, Saint George rushed at the dragon with his spear. The
dragon’s scales were as hard as metal and Saint George’s spear
broke into many pieces. The dragon breathed his horrible breath.
Saint George fell from his horse and rolled under a magical
orange tree. The orange tree gave protection from all types of
poison. Soon, Saint George was on his feet again.
Quickly, Saint George took out his sword and ran at the
dragon again. Luckily, Saint George’s sword hit the dragon’s
body under its wings. Before the sword caught the dragon again,
it flew away and was never seen again.
Later, Princess Sabra came out from where she had been
hiding to thank Saint George. Everyone danced and sang with
happiness because the dragon had not eaten their young girls.
