About Microsoft:
Microsoft Corporation was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and
Paul Allen, Microsoft Corporation has established itself as a
prominent technology giant with its headquarters in Redmond,
Washington. The company has gained worldwide recognition
for its revolutionary impact on the personal computing industry,
offering some of the most widely used software products and
services.
Microsoft's Windows operating system has become a
cornerstone of computing worldwide, providing a user-friendly
platform for PCs. The company's suite of productivity software,
including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, collectively known as
Microsoft Office, has become an essential tool in various
professional and academic settings.
In addition to software, Microsoft has diversified its offerings to
include hardware, cloud computing, and enterprise solutions.
The Azure cloud platform, a Microsoft creation, has gained
prominence as a comprehensive cloud service, catering to the
evolving needs of businesses and developers.
Under the leadership of CEOs like Bill Gates, Steve Ballmer, and
Satya Nadella, Microsoft has demonstrated a commitment to
innovation. The company has ventured into emerging
technologies such as artificial intelligence, mixed reality, and
quantum computing, ensuring its relevance in the ever-evolving
tech landscape.
Microsoft's influence extends beyond technology, with
initiatives focused on corporate social responsibility. The
company actively engages in educational programs, promotes
accessibility, and emphasizes environmental sustainability.
In summary, Microsoft's journey from a small startup to a
global technology powerhouse reflects its ability to adapt,
innovate, and shape the digital future. As a leader in software,
services, and technology, Microsoft continues to impact
individuals, businesses, and societies worldwide.

Microsoft’s Mission:
Microsoft’s mission is “to empower every person and every
organization on the planet to achieve more.” This mission
statement demonstrates the business's dedication to enhancing
the capabilities of individuals and organizations by providing
them with high-quality information technology products and
services.

Microsoft’s Vision:
Microsoft’s vision is “to help people and businesses
throughout the world realize their full potential’’. This
mission statement highlights the company's commitment to
positioning its computing products as instrumental resources
for personal and organizational growth.
Five important HR practices/policies
followed by Microsoft:
1)Employee Onboarding:
Microsoft's employee onboarding process is designed to
ensure that new hires are integrated into the company culture
and are set up for success. The process is divided into three
phases: pre-boarding, orientation, and onboarding.

 Pre-boarding: Prior to the commencement of a new hire's


first day, they are granted access to Microsoft's online
onboarding platform. This platform furnishes them with
information regarding the company's culture, values, and
history, as well as an overview of the benefits and
resources that are available to employees. Additionally, a
current employee is assigned as a buddy to the new hire,
who can assist them with any queries and provide
guidance throughout the onboarding process.

 Orientation: On the first day of the new hire, they attend


orientation along with other newly hired employees.
During this session, they are educated about Microsoft's
business strategy, structure, and products. They also
participate in team-building activities and have the
opportunity to meet with senior leaders.
 Onboarding: The onboarding phase is designed to equip
the new hire with the necessary tools and resources to
excel in their role. This includes training on Microsoft's
products and services, as well as job-specific training.
Furthermore, the new hire is paired with a mentor, who is
an experienced employee that can offer guidance and
support.

2)Performance Management:
Microsoft believes in a growth mindset and aims to foster a
culture of continuous learning and development. Performance
management is an integral part of this culture, with a focus on
setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and
recognizing and rewarding performance.

 Recognition and Rewards: Microsoft recognizes and


rewards high performance through a variety of programs,
including bonuses, promotions, and awards. The company
also encourages peer recognition and celebrates
successes as a team.

 Regular Feedback: Microsoft provides regular feedback


to employees, both informally and through formal
performance reviews. This feedback is designed to be
specific, actionable, and focused on
development and growth.
 Clear Expectations: Microsoft believes that setting clear
expectations is key to achieving high performance.
Employees are encouraged to set their own goals and
objectives in collaboration with their managers, ensuring
alignment with team and organizational goals.

3)Employee Development:
 Mentorship Programs: Microsoft offers mentorship
programs to help employees grow and develop their skills.
These programs pair experienced employees with those
who are new to the company or looking to learn new skills.
Through these mentorship programs, employees can
receive valuable feedback and guidance on their career
paths.
 Training and Development Courses: Microsoft offers a

employees to improve their skills and knowledge. These
courses cover a range of topics, from technical skills to
leadership development. Employees can take these
courses online or in-person, and many are self-paced to
accommodate busy schedules.
4)Diversity and Inclusion at Microsoft:
