BATTLE AGAINST THE HUNT OF BULLYING

A manuscript speech by
Joey Q. Cajolo

Good morning, esteemed audience! In the realm of human

interaction, where arrows of cruelty fly freely, let us wield
kindness as our impenetrable shield and allow empathy to resound,
drowning out the echoes of bullying. But before that, I welcome
all of you! To our beloved school principal Ma’am Felomina V.
Alanis and to our Oral Communication subject teacher and
facilitator Mr. Marvin M. Pulao, ladies and gentlemen, good
morning to all of you! I am Joey Q. Cajolo, a senior high school
student under the strand of humanities and social sciences
standing in front of all you as a passionate advocate against the
scourge of bullying. Today, I beckon all of you, my classmates,
respected teacher and principal, to embark on a collective
journey against bullying’s insidious grip. Bullying, a
contentious issue haunting our educational institutions, has
touched the lives of many including myself during my late
childhood. I was bullied during my childhood in a primary school
in Magara, this is the time of myself being a grade 3 student
where I experienced being bullied because of my appearance and
achievements. Those bullies signified a cruelty towards myself
because I achieved more things than them looking to me with
envious eyes. This personal history fuels my fervor to champion
the cause against bullying, and I implore each one of you to join
me in this noble endeavor. I’m not just here to deliver words;
I’m here to spark a revolution of empathy, to illuminate minds,
and to foster a community where kindness prevails over cruelty.
Together, let’s script a narrative that shuns bullying and
embraces the language of empathy. Thank you for your attention;
let the journey begin.

Bullying has plagued educational institutions for decades.

According to Merriam Webster’s dictionary, bullying involves the
mistreatment of someone weaker or less powerful. My own
experience as a target of envy driven bullying serves as a stark
example. The roots of bullying are complex, encompassing
psychological, social and environmental factors. Peer pressure,
mimicking behavior, lack of supervision, jealousy, and
insecurities contribute to its prevalence. These causes often
manifest as psychological and emotional issues for the victims,
making it imperative to address this behavior. As the Chinese
philosopher Confucius wisely stated “Do not do to others what you
do not want to yourself”. This principle underscores the
importance of treating others with respect. Bullying’s negative
impact extends beyond individuals, affecting the overall school
environment and hindering personal and academic growth. To combat
bullying, education is crucial. Schools should implement
awareness programs and master classes, fostering empathy and
understanding. Leaders should enact anti-bullying laws, and
parents play a pivotal role in teaching children about empathy
and respect. Preventing bullying requires a multifaceted approach
involving leadership, parental involvement, school initiatives,
and the development of positive behavior. These measures can
effectively counteract the threat of bullying and create
environments free from harassment. To those engaging in bullying,
remember that karma echoes the words of Chinese philosopher
Confucius as he states your treatment of others reflect their
treatment of you. And to victims, find strength in moving
forward, forgiving and letting karma address your bullies. These
words hold forgiving power against the darkness caused by
bullying.

In conclusion, the situation of bullying can be associated with

foxes in the forest being hunted by hunters and once they catch,
they will be in cage. As the lyrics from the song “I know places”
sang by the international singer and popstar Taylor Swift, the
singer sang the lyrics “they are the hunters, we are the foxes”.
These lyrics from the song define that our bullies are the
hunters of us and we are the prey like a fox that is meant to be
catch by them. Once we were caught by them, we will be in the
cage of darkness caused by them. So never let yourself catch by
your bully and let be a free fox that wanders the forest of your
own life. Furthermore, as we stand at the crossroads of empathy
and cruelty, let us heed the call of action against the
persistent plague of bullying. By sharing personal stories,
raising awareness, and embracing the wisdom of Confucius, we can
collectively script a narrative that champions kindness over
cruelty. The journey begins with each of us committing to
fostering a community where respect and empathy thrive. Remember,
in the face of darkness, our collective light has the power to
dispel the shadows of bullying and illuminate a path towards a
more compassionate future. Thank you for joining me on this
important endeavor.
