General layout:

This guide highlights a script that integrates the KeyLab Essential


into Live.

1.Setting up your unit


You’ll need the latest version of Live to be able to use the integration script
for KeyLab Essential.
If you manage to install the latest version of Live, here are the steps:
- Connect your KeyLab Essential and select DAW program (prog button).
- Open Live.
- The KeyLab Essential should automatically be detected and ready to use.

If the KeyLab Essential is not detected:


- Go to Live MIDI settings (Options / Preferences / Link Tempo MIDI tab)
- In the MIDI part, select your control surface (KeyLab Essential mk3)
- Set the right In and out Port (“KL Essential xx mk3 MIDI” / “KL Essential xx mk3 MIDI”)

Make sure you disable the “KeyLab Essential xx mk3 DIN THRU”, “KeyLab Essential xx mk3
MCU/HUI” and the “KeyLab Essential xx mk3 ALV” port.

- The KeyLab Essential should be detected and ready for Live.

2.Script features

Main encoder:
Navigate in the scenes

Main encoder click:


Launche the whole scene

Knobs 1 → 8:
Control some parameters of the current focused plugin (Device)
Control the pan of the focused track (Mixer)

Faders 1 → 8:
Control the parameter of the plugin on the selected track (Device)
Control the volume of the selected track (Mixer)

Knob 9 and fader 9:


Control the volume and the pan of the selected track

Contextual buttons:

- Contextual 1
Toggle between Device and Mixer control
- Contextual 2
Arm/disarm selected track
- Contextual 3
Previous track
- Contextual 4
Next track

Pads:

Bank A:
Trigger some clips on the scene view
The bank A LED color will match the color of the selected clip

Bank B:
Pressing the pads will triggers sounds
The Drum Machine plugin is already mapped

The Pad LEDs match the one you selected in the plugin for your sounds

Analog Lab Mode
If you are using Analog Lab, make sure you link the correct device when you open
the plugin:

You can enter Analog Lab Mode to have perfect control over Analog Lab by selecting the
Arturia program (Prog button).

When Analog Lab is selected, you can manage the plugin as you would do in standalone
(Navigation, selection and FX).
