PHOTOELECTRICITY

Hypothesis: Brief explanation of the photoelectric effect. Explain how water could
cause refraction of light and possibly affect the photoelectric effect.

Aim: (Second paragraph, first sentence on handout)

Materials & Apparatus: Some on the handout. NB: the container holding the water can’t be made
of glass

Diagram NB: Depth doesn’t mean that the water has to be above the electroscope

Method: Wunna want me give y’all everything? Things to consider:

• how the electroscope is charged and with what charge. (It on the
diagram)
• starting angle for the gold leaf
• how the depth is varied

Expected Results: Time for leaf to fall/s

Depth/m Angle/o
t1 t2 tavg

Treatment of Results: What graph will be plotted? If any?

Variables: Controlled: which parameters of the light source are being controlled?

Manipulated/independent:

Repsonding/Dependent:

Precautions: How are other light sources eliminated

Why can’t you use glass containers

Sources of Error: Again, wunna want me give y’all everything?

Conclusion: Explain any possiblet relationship between depth and rate of deflection
