THE CII EXPLAINED

C CII (Carbon intensity indicator) is simply the amount of Co2 emitted by the vehicle. Vessels with
more than 5000 GT must disclose their CII quantity to the IMO. (DCS). It is determined by dividing the
annual fuel consumption by the vessel's deadweight times the vessel's speed. The management firm
sends this calculation to Class or any other recognized organization. Following class assessment, the
vessels are ranked from A to E using the bell curve calculation.

A is the greatest performer, while E is the worst. D cannot stay in that position for more than three
years. It should at the very least be raised to C. Within a year, the E level should be upgraded to C.
They would be demolished otherwise.

The EU requires a slightly modified method known as MRV, in which the quantity of cargo used is
used instead of dead weight. This means that brokers must pay close attention to the cargo
transported in order to comply with MRV. Data should be submitted to the EU whenever you enter
and exit an EU port.
