How do I clear the message "Please Wait" from the display?

To clear the message "PLEASE WAIT" from the display of your Brother machine please follow the instructions listed
below.

1. Verify the power cord is connected directly to the power outlet. If the power cord is connected to a surge
protector or power switch, removethe cord from the device, wait 1 minute and connect it directly to the outlet.
Removing the device assist in determining if the issue is related to the device or the Brother machine.

Note: To protect your investment against power surges and lightning, Brother strongly recommends that you
connect your machine to a surge protector. In particular we suggest that you use a surge protector that is
compatible with both standard A.C. power cords and telephone line cords. Surge protectors equipped with telephone
jacks will assist in insulating your machine from any power surge that might travel through atelephone line.

2. If the display returns to date and time continue to Step 4.

3. If "PLEASE WAIT" still remains on the display, unplug the Brother machine from the power outlet again and plug
it into a different power outlet (preferably a different circuit as well). If the display returnsto date and time continue
to Step 4.

If "PLEASE WAIT" continues to appear on the display and your machine is within warranty, you can locate a Brother
Authorized Service Center (ASC) in your area using one of the following:

of the page or for automated assistance by telephone, dial 1­800­284­4357 access our fax back system. This
system can provide you a printed list via facsimile orverbal listings of a Brother ASC in your area. You may also
contact Brother Customer Service at 1­800­284­4329 Monday through Friday, 9:00am­ 7:00pm EST, excluding
holidays. If you are out of warranty, youneed to contact a Brother Authorized Service Center using the information
listed above.

4. To test, print the Help List by pressing MENU\SET, 5 (Print Reports), 1 (Help List).

If the message "PLEASE WAIT" appears on the display again and your machine is within warranty, you can locate a
Brother Authorized Service Center (ASC) in your area using one of the following:
