SOP for Preece/Uniformity test:

1. Prepare the copper sulphate solution; take 360 grams solid crystal of copper sulphate in 1litre of
water. This solution should be prepared before 24 hours of test. Sp. Gravity of copper sulphate
solution should be 1.186
2. Take a sample of galvanized material of size 100mm
3. Dip the sample in copper sulphate solution for one minute. Minimum 50mm sample should be
inside the solution
4. Take out the sample from solution after one minute and wash it in running water
5. Repeat this process for 4 times
6. Inspect the sample –
If red spot found-sample fail
If red spot not found-sample pass
7. If sample fail, inform to GI department and to your operation head
8. During Preece/uniformity test follow the IS 2633 (see the annexure “A”)
