If such passenger needs a wheelchair, he is classified as Wheelchair (WCHR) passenger ‘Arriving or landing Passengers Passengers who land at their point of destination. Baggage ‘Articles, effects and other personal property of a passenger which are necessary for wear, use, comfort or convenience in connection with his trip. Baggage Tag ‘A document issued by the carrier solely for identification oF checked baggage. The baggage strap portion is attached by the carrier to a particular artide of checked baggage and the identification/claim tag portion is given to the passenger. Boarding Airline The airline on which a passenger Is to be carried from a boarding point. Boarding Point The point at which a passenger is scheduled to embark on a flight. Booking Airline The airline with which a passenger made reservations. This maybe where the original reservations is made or one contacted en-route on which reservation changes had been requested. Booking or Reservation The accommodation held for a passenger on a given flight. Business Class ‘A type of service higher than economy class which the airline makes available on its flights. Cabin / Hand carry Baggage Baggage hand carried by the passenger into the aircraft cabin. This comprises all personal articles needed by the passenger during the flight. Cabotage The right granted to a foreign carrier to carry traffic from one point in a country to another point in the same country. Cancelled Flight A flight that will definitely not depart or arrive as scheduled on that day. DEFINITION Carriage Equivalent to the term “transportation”, means carriage of Passengers and/or baggage by air, gratuitously or for hire Carrier The air carrier issuing the ticket and all air carriers that carry or undertake to carry the passenger and/or his baggage thereunder or to perform any other services related to such air carriage Carry-on Items Personal effects or items which are retained in the passenger's custody during flight. Chartered Flight Rented/special fight. Checked Baggage That part of the passenger's property which the airline takes into custody during carriage and for which, has been issued a baggage tag and claim stub. Code Share Flight A flight operated by a carrier but is jointly sold and booked by another contracting carrier. Conditions of Carriage ‘Applicable laws, regulations, procedures and restrictions that govern the transport of passengers/items by air. Conjunction Ticket Two or more tickets concurrently issued to a passenger which, together constitute a single contract of carriage. Connecting Point The station en-route where the passenger has to change aircraft either with the same airline or with a different airline. Crew Baggage Standard regulation equipment issued by the company to flight deck cabin crew, the contents of which are limited to clothing, personal effects and other items reasonably necessary in the performance of their functions for the duration of their assignment. Customs Area Where passengers declare the contents and value of their baggage and other things they brought into the country. Passengers are asked to fill out the Customs Declaration Form. They can also verbally declare the contents of their baggage to the Customs examiners. Delayed Flight A flight that is unable to depart or arrive as scheduled but is re-scheduled at a later time. Delivering Airline The airline on whose flight a passenger travels on to connect ‘to another at a transit/connecting point. Denied Boarding (DNB) A situation where an airline is unable to accommodate passengers on a flight despite presenting a valid ticket, a confirmed reservation on that flight, and reporting for check-in within the time limit specified by the airline. This condition occurs when passengers who show up at the airport with confirmed reserved space are more than the number of seats available for the flight. TERMS DEFINITION Denied Boarding Passenger ‘A passenger who was not able to take a flight due to non- availability of space in spite of a confirmed reservation. Deplaning Point The point at which the passenger is scheduled to disembark from a flight. person who has been legally admitted to a country by its Deportee authorities (Immigration) or who has entered a country illegally and who, at a later time is formally ordered by the authorities to be removed from that country Destination The ultimate stopping point of a passenger’s journey coinciding with his contract of carriage. Involuntary Rerouting Change in the passenger's itinerary not on the passenger's initiative (usually brought about by flight disruptions). Itinerary The sum of all portions of a passenger's journey, from origin to destination. ‘Joint Fare ‘Applied to transportation over lines of two or more carriers and is published as a single unit. Leg Portion of the journey between two consecutive stops on any given flight. Local Passenger A passenger who is in contact with the local office of an. airline, either directly through another person, through a travel agent, or through the local office of another airline. MAAS Passenger Form Form filled out with the necessary handling requirements of passengers needing extra or special assistance. MAAS Passenger Passengers who need to be met and assisted from the point of check-in at embarkation until arrival at the disembarkation point due to some special needs. Minor A person who has reached his/her second birthday but not his/her eighteenth birthday as of the date of commencement of travel. Miscellaneous Charges Order ‘An accountable form issued by an airline covering various services in conjunction with a passenger's journey which has not been paid for in the purchased ticket; e.g. excess baggage charges, upgrading fee, rebooking fee, etc. Misconnected Passenger ‘A passenger who arrives at a station after his connecting flight has departed. Non-Ambulatory Passenger A passenger who can neither walk and board the aircraft unassisted nor move around inside the aircraft. \Non-Restricted National A passenger with no restriction of entry into the Philippines, usually for a stay of 21 days or more without a visa approval provided holding onward tickets. INOREC The abbreviated form for No Record, used in computer reservations systems. Indicates that no record of a passenger's booking can be found. INOSHO ‘Also known as No Show. A passenger who doesn't show up to take the flight that he/she is booked on. ‘Off-Line Connection ‘A connection that not only involves a change of planes, but a change of airlines as well. ‘On-Line Connection ‘A connection that involves a change of airplanes but not a change of airlines. ‘Open Ticket A ticket with no date specified and the passenger books a flight when ready to travel. These are usually full fare tickets, ‘as opposed to a discounted, restricted fare. ‘Origin Initial point of a passenger's journey according to his contract carriage. ‘Originating Airline The airline transporting a passenger from the first portion of an itinerary. ‘Overbook/Oversell When an airline takes more reservations for a flight than it has seats on an aircraft. The profile passenger is normally in possession of complete documents at check-in, but arrives at the destination with a different set of documents, or missing documents, or spurious documents, or with no documents whatsoever. Proration The subdividing/sharing of layover expenses of connecting passengers on interline routes through multilateral agreement by IATA member airlines ‘Quarantine ‘An airport division of authorized doctors that check passengers’ compliance to health requirements pertinent to their travel. Reconfirmation ‘A requirement by certain airlines whereby passengers advise and finalize their intention to use the space reserved. Rerouted/Diverted Flights A flight that had to make an unscheduled stop at a station not included in its route. Reservation The accommodation of passenger on a scheduled fight. Restricted National ‘A passenger who is not allowed to enter a country without a valid visa. TERMS DEFINITION Revalidation ‘An authorization sticker on a passenger ticket showing that the owner carrier has officially ALTERED its data. Round Trip (RT) A flight itinerary that involves flying to a single destination and back. ‘Segment A single portion of a passenger's flight itinerary. Ship's crew / Seaman ‘A passenger traveling and seeking admission in a country only to join a vessel docked in that country. ‘Standby Baggage Baggage awaiting acceptance for carriage may be due to overbooked flight or voluming-out of cargo hold due to excessive checked baggage. ‘Standby The procedure of waiting for a seat to open up on a flight on which a passenger is not booked/confirmed. ‘Stretcher Passenger ‘A passenger who is immobile and unable to sit upright. He is carried on a stretcher installed inside the cabin. This passenger must be escorted by a qualified adult capable of rendering medical attention when necessary ‘Stopover ‘A planned stop of at least one night (or more than 4 hours domestically), and then continuing the next part of a flight itinerary.
