Pre-requisite: Corporate Finance and Analysis of Financial Statement.
Course Objectives:
 To undertake research in order to facilitate better understanding of the theoretical
structures about banking, identify research gaps and provide suggestions.
 To learn the methods of capturing the value drivers through mergers and acquisitions.
 To develop skills in evaluation of target companies and the deals’ value, understand
how valuation of the company is done by using various models and to understand the
concepts related to Commodities and Derivatives market.
 To understand the need and form of various types of corporate restructuring.
 To identify the concerns and consequences of unethical practices in banks and
significance of implementing effective governance.
Outcomes:
1. To develop an understanding of interpreting provisions of statutory laws governing
theoretical structures with respect to banking (PLO1a).
2. To enable the students to analyse mergers and acquisitions of various types and
highlight their legal ramifications effectively. (PLO 2b).
3. To migrate from teaching to learning about the legal provisions, principles and
procedures and methods of capturing the value drivers through mergers and
acquisitions. (PLO2b)
4. To enable an understanding of Interdisciplinary subjects and integrate functional areas
of finance and management law with an aim to understand the evaluation process of
target companies and the deals’ value, understand intricacies with respect to company
valuation, highlight the relationship between corporate restructuring and smooth
managerial decision making and to understand corporate restructuring. (PLO3b)
5. To identify the concerns and consequences of unethical practices by critically
reviewing the role that banks play in today’s economy and how changes in the role of
banks are driving stakeholder priorities and bank strategy. (PLO4b)
