i. To cool down the temperature, avoid coking, cracking of the feed stock.
ii. Visbreaking increases the production of lower molecular weight hydrocarbons,
reduces viscosity, increases pipeline flow rate, discourages the formation of coke
etc.
iii. Draw daigram
iv. Pressure operating conditions and temperature differences.
Question 2
i. Convection conduction radiation use this principles to demonstrate a diagram
with the different parts of the furnace.
ii. Internal refluxes, external refluxes, pump around refluxes, overhead refluxes.
iii. Aero-coler sensible heat while aero-condenser latent heat
Question 3
i. Two phase separators: hydrocarbon vapors and liquid; and three phase
separators: hydrocarbon vapors, hydrocarbon condensates and water
ii. Corrosion inhibitors, coating internal surface of drum, desalting techniques,
using corrosimetrique probes.
