ACTIVITY 5: FROM RAGS TO RICHES (Performance Task)

One example of a Filipino who had a "rags to riches" life story is Manny Pacquiao. He is
a former professional boxer and currently a senator in the Philippines. Pacquiao was born
into a poor family in General Santos City, Philippines. He grew up in extreme poverty
and faced many challenges.

Pacquiao started his boxing career at a young age to support his family financially.
Despite facing numerous obstacles, he persevered and became one of the most successful
boxers in history. He won multiple world championships in different weight divisions
and achieved international fame.

Throughout his career, Pacquiao gained both ascribed and achieved statuses. His ascribed
status includes being born into a poor family and having limited opportunities due to his
background. However, he was able to overcome these limitations through his hard work,
determination, and boxing skills, which led to his achieved status as a world-renowned
boxer and later, as a prominent political figure.
