CHAPTER 4 TRANSPORTATION & STORAGE

This machining center is designed to precision machining. Be careful to transport and store this
machining center. Any improper transportation or storage will cause machine damage and
decrease machine accuracy.

A. ENVIRONMENT FOR STORAGE AND INSTALLATION

For the detail information related to environment for machine storage and installation, refer to
the item D in Chapter 2.

B. PACKAGE SIZE AND WEIGHT

The actual package size and weight of this machining center will be decided by the machine
models and accessories. Before shipment, please contact your dealer and manufacturer to
confirm the actual package size and weight to plan the loading ability of lifting and transportation
devices.
Weight list as below. Unit: kg
Model Net weight Gross weight with Pallet Gross weight with wooden case
X5-450-UNI 8100 8300 9100
Note: Actual weight is depending on actual package status.

C. MARKS ON THE PACKING CASE

On the packing cases, there are many warning and caution marks, such as “Keep dry”, “This way
up”. When transporting these cases, follow these caution marks to prevent machine damage or
person injury resulted from mis-transportation. The drawing below shows the marks in
transportation. The locations of these marks are depending on the actual packing status.

D. UNPACKING

1. Cautions after unpacking

- After unpacking, make sure no damage on the machine.
- Confirm machine accessories, tools, documents.
- After unpacking, all the packing materials must be cleaned out to prevent personal
injury and machine damage.
- Make sure no rusty or drop lacquer on the machine surfaces.
- Make sure the location for placing the machine is flat and stable.
- Make sure the connection of electrical circuit is proper.
- Make all the mounting bolts for splash guards are secured.
- Confirm the machine specification
- Never remove the fixing blocks between spindle head and table.
- After machine confirmation, if finding any out of specification, lack of accessories, or
machine damage, contact your dealer or manufacturer. We will offer the best service.
2. Machine storage after unpacking
The method for machine storage after unpacking, refer to item A in this chapter.
- Forklift (Recommend)

E. TO LIFT THE MACHINE

Before lifting the machine, make sure the loading capacity of lifting device (crane, hoist, and
forklift) is proper. All the lifting device must be operated by qualified personnel.

1. Precautions before unpacking

- As showing below, there are marks on the packing case to indicate the locations for
wires. When lifting the machine, follow the directions on these marks.
- Before lifting the packing case, select the proper lifting device depending on the actual
weight of packing case.
- Prepare some rags and wood blocks used in machine transportation and lifting to
prevent machine surface damage.

2. Lifting after unpacking

To lift the machine after unpacking, select the lifting device depending on the following table
to prevent personal injury or machine damage resulted from improper lifting procedure and
device.
- Forklift (Recommended)

Note:
The fork length has to
exceed the 2/3 of the
machine body.

Model Forklift tons Fork length

X5-320 10 ton 234 cm

- Crane
Please use two hanging rings which dia. over 50mm to lift the machine, one put in the
front of base and the other across column, as drawing.

Note: Before machine starting, remove the rings first to prevent machine damage
resulted from machine crash.

F. LEVEL ADJUSTING

To reduce vibration and inaccuracy of machine, adjusting level correctly is necessary.

1. To adjust level should use two pieces of level gauges that each clearance is 0.02 mm
precision.
2. Before adjusting, be sure that level gauge is absolutely leveled as follow:
- Put the level at the fixed position on table.
- Record bubble’s position after bubble stops moving. And rotate 180゜until bubble stops,
it is necessary to compare with 0゜to get the clearance within 1/3 section position.
3. Return X, Y and Z axes to zero point, and remove X axis to the middle point of travel.
4. Set the level at the middle of table as figure below.

5. Level the machine with 3 jack bolts on the corner and 2 assistant jack bolts.
6. Lock two adjunct jack bolts on the corner
7. Adjust foundation bolt until spirit bubble moves to the center of level gauge.
8. Move the table on X axis direction and level the machine.
9. Move the table on Y axis direction and level the machine.
10. Repeat several times after level adjusting is finished.
11. Set jack bolts with same load.
12. Check and re-adjust the machine level every 6 months.
13. Make sure foundation nuts are fixed firmly.
