and research papers.

What is Conflict Theory?

Meaning of CONFLICT word in dictionary

noun

1) a fight, battle, or struggle, especially a prolonged struggle; strife

2) controversy; quarrel: conflict between parties

Definition of Conflict Theory

“Conflict theory sees society as a result of competition over scare resources”

Derived from Ideas of “KARL MARX”

CONFLICT THEORY- so when we say conflict theory it talks about lack of fairness or justice, inequality
describes a situation that’s not fair.

Ex: Crime- bat di ito natatapos or bakit may kailangang may madamay because of their perspective in
their need they should do it for their family. Napipiplitan silang gawin yung mga bagay na masama.

Ex; Unequal pay, lack of opportunity based things like class, gender, race, lack of opportunity, lacj of
education and such.

-So sabi pa dito Conflict Theory is a way of studying a society that focuses of inequalities of different
groups and society it is based of ideas of Karl Marx on the 19th century.

-So nag aarise ang conflict kapag yung wants and desire natin is mas marami kaysa avaible resources,
resources is not just tangible goods, it could be also power, time and position

-The never ending competition for this finite resources gives rise to conflict

-So for Karl Marx there are two social classes; which is the bourgeoisie and proletariat

 The bourgeoisie -rich upper class, minority of the population

-Proletariat is had only labor to sell to make living and they were dependent of the factory owner to
get paid

 Proletariat- poor lower class, laborers of the society, majority of the population

-The factory owners also dependent on the workers to work on the factory, without them their
factory will not function.

-Its like win win situation to them but at some point mas nag bbenifit yung mga bourgeoisie because
habang lumalago yung mga factories nila is mas yumayaman sila while yung mga proletariat naman
is nag sstay lang sila don and yung kita nila is naka depend sa factory and kung magkano yung
ibibigay ng factory owner.

ASSUPMTIONS OF CONFLICT THEORY:

1.) Competition- yung mga nag aaway sa money, land, commodities, and sa intangible resources
naman such as status, time, respect, power and etc. so if walang competition walang conflict na
mag aarise.
2.) Revolution- "an outbreak against authority," usually violent attempt by many people to end the
rule of one government and start a new one. So siguro ito yung mga tao sa society na they think
government is not fair, so mas aarise na yung rebellion resulting in a major change.
3.) Structural Inequality- describes disparities in wealth, resources, and other outcomes that result
from discriminatory practices of institutions such as legal, educational, business, government,
and health care systems.
-Education, Land, Housing, Health care etc. nagging bias sila, those who have wealth can
accumulate more wealth and those who are poor become poorer dahil namamantalang may
kaya sa buhay.
4.) War- extreme competition between the two or groups may lead to war. (World War II) so
because of this war madaming nadamay, madaming namatay even hindi sila kasali sa conflict
between two groups they still died.

Conclusion: I think Karl Marx want us to understand about his theory that it serves as a lens for us para
maunawaan natin kung pano nga ba mag work yung society natin, particularly in capitalist systems.

A life without conflict would be a life without risk.
