Go-Kart League Guidelines And Rules
Dear Teams,
Please go through this rule book carefully. Read and understand each point properly. It is
suggested that the teams must take a printout of the rulebook, sit together and debate on the
perception of each rule. Highlight important points and be ready to refer to the handouts.
Do not misunderstand any rule. If clarification regarding any rule is required, you must
contact us. We will always be glad to help you out.

Riders’ equipment
For their safety, go kart riders must wear proper requirement:
Full-face helmet
Driving Suit (full protective thick jackets would be permissible)
Driving Boot (ankles must be covered)
Seat Belt
Gloves
Racing License
As in other disciplines in motorsports, a license is required to drive a racing kart on a circuit to
enter competitions. The driver should at least have the license for driving two-wheeler vehicles
and must be well experienced with the skills of go-kart racing.
Racing Format
The racing format will be of lane-based sprint type. This race takes place on dedicated kart
circuits resembling small road courses, with left and right turns. The track is about 600 meters in
length. The race will be held inside the premises of Pulchowk campus.
Technical rules
1. Chassis
There are no specific rules for the types and dimensions of chassis, but the vehicle must be
designed considering that it endures the race. Go-karts should be made considering engine
displacement and weight of the chassis. The vehicle however can be either a 3-wheeler or 4-
wheeler as desired by the team.
2. Power Source
There is no restriction on using a specific engine/motor. Teams are free to select any engine
meeting following requirements:
Weight No restrictions
Type of Transmission Manual gearbox / CVT / Centrifugal
Clutch type
Max Power Rating 150cc (4 stroke) and 100cc (2 stroke) IC
engine.
Electric motor rated up to 3 KW.
** The engine/motor used may only be controlled using simple electronic controllers.
Any software-controlled engine/motor will not be allowed to compete.
3. Starting system
Every kart must be either electric start or recoil or pull start. The engine should be
started and should be in idling mode at the start line.
4. Brake light
The vehicle must be installed with an automatic brake light red in color which is
clearly visible at least from one meter.
5. Exhaust System
Use of suitable catalytic converter or the mufflers are recommended. The exhaust
system must be properly shielded, preventing the delicate parts which may be affected if
exposed to the heat. The exhaust must be mounted properly to avoid the physical contact of
the viewers, or the technical inspectors and smoke should not interfere with other riders’
vision. The exhaust system should be inside your chassis periphery. No loud noise from the
vehicle is allowed.
6. Seat Belt
The vehicle must be installed with a seat belt and the rider should be strapped with
these belts when he/she is sitting on driving seat and the vehicle is moving at any point in
time during the event.
Safety Rules
Helmets must be worn by the rider throughout the race.
No bumping of the Karts is allowed.
Never stop on the track for any reason.
Riders are not allowed to drive outside the racetrack and respective lane.
Keep the ride as smooth as possible.
Make sure you are sitting correctly.
Fuel tanks must be safe, rigid, and fabricated properly.
The safety team will be present at the racing event for any kind of unforeseen
circumstances. The motive of the race is to have a qualitative live racing experience for the
spectators of the exhibition. The riders are requested to focus on safety throughout the race.
The go-kart which first crosses the finish line will be declared as the winner of the race.
Winning teams will be awarded cash prizes plus medals at the prize ceremony of the
exhibition. Certificates of appreciation will be provided to all the participants.
Registration Guide:
A team may only have a maximum of 10 members.
