2. After Jesus died, why did his followers struggle to believe that
he rose from the dead? Why do people today doubt that Jesus See, what a morning, gloriously bright,
literally rose from the dead? With the dawning of hope in Jerusalem;
Folded the grave-clothes, tomb filled with light,
As the angels announce, "Christ is risen!"

3. For Jesus' followers to understand that he would suffer and rise Wrought in love, borne in pain, paid in sacrifice,
from the dead, what had to first happen to them? Fulfilled in Christ, the Man,
(cf. Lk 24:45-46) What does this mean? For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!
And He [Jesus] began to teach them that the Son of Man 1. Mary Magdalene doubted--then believed
must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and
the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after
three days rise again. And He was stating the matter
plainly. (Mk 8:31-32)
2. The apostles doubted--then believed
For He [Jesus] was teaching His disciples and telling them,
“The Son of Man is to be delivered into the hands of men,
and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He
will rise three days later. (Mk 9:31)
3. Thomas doubted--then believed
Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man
will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes; and
they will condemn Him to death and will hand Him over to
the Gentiles. They will mock Him and spit on Him, and
scourge Him and kill Him, and three days later He will rise Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence
again. (Mk 10:33-34) of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these
have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in

He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not
obey the Son will not see life,
