THE BELIEVERS TRIUMPH THROUGH THE

RESURRECTION POWER OF CHRIST

Matthew 28: 1-15

The resurrection power of Christ is a fundamental

belief in Christianity. It signifies Jesus Christ's

victory over death, providing hope and eternal life

to believers. Lessons learned from the study of the

Resurrection of Christ include:

a. Prophecies or Predictions Concerning the

Resurrection of Christ

b. People's Efforts To Prevent The Resurrection Of

Christ

C. Powerful Triumph Through The Resurrection Of

Christ
1. PROPHECIES CONCERNING THE RESURRECTION

OF CHRIST -

Psalms 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in

hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see

corruption.

Matthew 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus

to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go

unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the

elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed,

and be raised again the third day.

Matthew 26:32 But after I am risen again, I will

go before you into Galilee.

Matthew 28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he

said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Mark 9:9 And as they came down from the

mountain, he charged them that they should tell

no man what things they had seen, till the Son of

man were risen from the dead.

Luke 24:6-8 He is not here, but is risen: remember

how he spake unto you when he was yet in

Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered

into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and

the third day rise again. And they remembered his

words,

John 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them,

Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise

it up.
ALL THE PROPHETS, PREACHERS AND PROPONENT

OF THE GOSPELS (ie APOSTLES) predicted the

Resurrection of Christ!

Acts 26:22-23 Having therefore obtained help of

God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to

THE small and great, saying none other things

than those which the prophets and Moses did say

should come: That Christ should suffer, and that

he should be the first that should rise from the

dead, and should shew light unto the people, and

to the Gentiles.

According to the Holy Spirit speaking through Paul,

the Resurrection of Christ is the major focus of our

witness and preaching!

2.PEOPLE'S EFFORTS TO CONTRADICT THE

RESURRECTION OF CHRIST-

THE CHIEF PRIESTS AND THE PHARISEES MADE

FRANTIC EFFORTS TO PREVENT AND ALSO TO

DISCREDIT THE FACTS OF CHRIST RESURRECTION.

They instigated Pilate the Governor, Lied against

Christ, calling Him deceiver.

They rolled very big stone at the mouth of the

tomb, all to prevent Christ from resurrecting! They

failed!

Matthew 27:62-66 Now the next day, that

followed the day of the preparation, the chief

priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,

Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said,

while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise

again. Command therefore that the sepulchre be

made sure until the third day, lest his disciples

come by night, and steal him away, and say unto

the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last

error shall be worse than the first. Pilate said unto

them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as

sure as ye can. So they went, and made the

sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a

watch.

Mark 15:43-46 Joseph of Arimathaea, an

honourable counsellor, which also waited for the

kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto

Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. And Pilate

marveled if he were already dead: and calling

unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he

had been any while dead. And when he knew it of

the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. It

And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and

wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a

sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and

rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.

3. POWERFUL TRIUMPH THROUGH CHRIST'S

RESURRECTION-

1 Corinthians 15:53-57 For this corruptible must

put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on

immortality.

So when this corruptible shall have put on

incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on

immortality, then shall be brought to pass the

saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in

victory.

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy

victory?

The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is

the law.

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory

through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Through Christ's Resurrection the believer has

total triumph over all that defeats and conquer

man! We have-:

1.Triumph Over Death: The resurrection

demonstrates Christ's power over death and the

promise of eternal life for those who believe in

Him.
Luke 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for

they are equal unto the angels; and are the

children of God, being the children of the

resurrection.

John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the

resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me,

though he were dead, yet shall he live

2. Triumph Over Sin: through Forgiveness and

redemption: Through Christ's resurrection,

believers are offered forgiveness for their sins and

the opportunity for redemption and a fresh start.

Acts 5:31 Him hath God exalted with his right

hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give

repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Acts 13:38 Be it known unto you therefore, men

and brethren, that through this man is preached

unto you the forgiveness of sins:

3. Triumph in trials : The resurrection serves as a

source of hope and encouragement during difficult

times, reminding believers that God's power can

bring life and renewal even in the face of adversity.

2 Corinthians 8:2 How that in a great trial of

affliction the abundance of their joy and their

deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their

liberality.

1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being

much more precious than of gold that perisheth,

though it be tried with fire, might be found unto

praise and honour and glory at the appearing of

Jesus Christ:

4. Triumph through Transformation and New Life

in Christ: Just as Christ was raised to new life,

believers are called to experience spiritual

transformation and live victoriously in Him.

John 5:29 And shall come forth; they that have

done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they

that have done evil, unto the resurrection of

damnation.

5. Triumphant Commission for believers: The

resurrection commission calls believers to share

the message of Christ's victory and love, spreading

the gospel to others.

Acts 1:22 Beginning from the baptism of John,

unto that same day that he was taken up from us,

must one be ordained to be a witness with us of

his resurrection.

Acts 4:2, 33 Being grieved that they taught the

people, and preached through Jesus the

resurrection from the dead.

And with great power gave the apostles witness

of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great

grace was upon them all.

6. Triumph through Assurance of faith: Believing

in Christ's resurrection provides a firm foundation

for one's faith, affirming the truth of Christianity.

Romans 1:4 And declared to be the Son of God

with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by

the resurrection from the dead:

Hebrews 11:35 Women received their dead raised

to life again: and others were tortured, not

accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a

better resurrection:

7. Triumphant Union (Uniting) with Christ:

Through His resurrection, believers are spiritually

united with Christ, and their identity becomes

rooted in Him.

Romans 6:5 For if we have been planted together

in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the

likeness of his resurrection:

Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the

power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of

his sufferings, being made conformable unto his

death;

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our

Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant

mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope

by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
