CUMULATIVE REFLECTION

My journey at Iowa State University has been a transformative voyage loaded with

change, metamorphosis, challenges, growth, failings, and priceless experiences that have

constructed me and influenced my academic and personal development. Reflecting on my

incremental expertise, I am reminded of the diverse opportunities I have experienced and their

deep impact on my development. Academically, Iowa State University has equipped me with a

rigorous, enhanced educational environment. Starting from the problem-solving coursework to

the engaging discussions in lectures and laboratories, I have gained a profound understanding of

my electrical engineering power & energy systems field, critical thinking and analytical skills.

The guidance and support of my faculty members, academic team, and advisor have

played a key role in my academic success, encouraging me to explore the perimeters of my

knowledge and desire for excellence in my studies. Exceeding the classroom, I have exposed

myself to various extracurricular activities and research projects that have extended my horizons

and allowed me to apply my learning and technical skills like Arduino, C-programming,

PSCAD, MATLAB, LTspice, PSS/E, and other software & programming in real-world contexts.

Taking power systems classes like EE 303 (Power Energy Systems and Electronics) gives

me a comprehensive understanding of competitive electric energy systems and power

electronics. I learned system structure, economic optimization, electromagnetic concepts,

synchronous generators, and balanced three-phase circuit analysis. Also explored the idea of

power electronic circuit applications like power supplies and motor drives by developing skills in

analyzing, designing, and optimizing electrical systems for careers in energy and electronics

industries.

EE 4560 (Power System Analysis) gives me the foundation skills for analyzing power

systems, transmission lines, transformers, synchronous machine modeling, network analysis,

power system representation, and load flow. After this, I gained proficiency in analyzing and

understanding power system behavior, enabling them to model, analyze, and optimize power

systems for various applications in the energy sector and related industries. EE 4570, which is

advanced Power System Analysis, where I developed skills in analyzing and protecting power

systems from faults, understanding symmetrical components for fault analysis, assessing system

stability, learning how to utilize PSCAD Simulation with MATLAB, and navigating power

system operations within modern utility frameworks.

Taking Signals and Systems classes (EE 224 & 324) allowed me better to understand

mathematically the concepts of signals and systems foundation. I learned methods for exploiting

signals, analyzing system properties mathematically, and translating data analysis using Matlab

for simulations and analysis, enhancing their problem-solving skills in engineering applications.

Those courses allow me to apply the concept of Laplace and z-transforms, including their

properties and inverses, and explore their applications in analyzing LTI systems, circuits,

analog/digital filters, and feedback systems to real-world problems using Matlab.

Each day at Iowa State, I have experienced valuable understanding and meaningful

connections and contributed to my personal and professional growth. The best part of my

journey at Iowa State University has been the opportunity to collaborate with peers and faculty

members on projects that have challenged me to think effectively and creatively, problem-solve

effectively, and communicate my ideas confidently. These collaboration experiences have

aggravated my understanding of course material and emphasized the importance of teamwork

and cooperation in achieving shared objectives.

Throughout my term at Iowa State University, I've experienced multiple obstacles and

upsets, yet each difficulty has served me as a moment of learning and growth. Whether I'm

facing challenges, struggles with academic pressures, navigating personal problems, or facing

unpredictable obstacles, I've developed resilience, adaptability, and perseverance in

overpowering adversity.

As I prepare to embrace the next chapter of my journey, I am so grateful for the valuable

lessons, experiences, and relationships I gained at Iowa State University. The knowledge, skills,

and experiences acquired here have prepared me to navigate the world's complexity with

confidence, assurance of what I learned, integrity, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Though my time at Iowa State University may end, the lessons learned, the knowledge and

technical skills gained, and the memories made will forever remain a precious part of my

journey.
