Fv£-05483 Page 1/2 INTRODUCTION 1, General information The following instructions should be carefully studied and followed in order to secure the dest functions of the Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS): ‘These instructions are general and may not cover all variations of the equipment and may not provide all kinds of information for every problem, If a probles which is not adequately covered in the instructions arises or further information is required, contact the Nissin Electric Company for prompt assistance. IMPORTANT. Gene: cautions to be followed The following cautions are important for installations, abating operations and maintenance of the GIS. So, please be thoroughly familiar with them and follow: faithfully for your safety. 1) No one should handle the GIS except the qualified persons who are thoroughly familiar with the contents of this manual. 2) Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) used for GIS as the dielectric medium is approx. 5 times heavier than the air. Therefore, when the SF6 ges exists in the room or working area, the gas will stay on the lower level and it causes suffocation] for human being. This leads to unconsciousness. I£ the persons should enter into the GIS room or GIS enclosure under the above possibility (accidental failure of GIS enclosure or working inside GIS enclosure, etc.), ensure that adequate ventilation without fail. 3) Never loosen the bolts and nuts fixing GIS enclosures, SF6 FV£-05483 Page 2/2 INTRODUCTION gas storage tank, air reservoirs for GCB and compressed air supply unit, gas piping and air piping before discharging the high pressure gas or air from them, (6) Never inflict a force upon the gas and air pipes by stepping on them, etc. lL following advantages. FVE-0547E ENERAL ADVANTAGES. Page 1/1 ‘The common enclosure type gas insulated switchgear (GIS) has -the High reliability ALL live parts such as conductors and insulators are fully enclosed in metal enclosures. Therefore, the switchgear is completely independent of the atmospheric conditions such as contamination by smoke, chemical fumes, dust and salt-laden spray, etc. Safety and no fire-hazard There is no danger for operating personnel since the Live parts are not accessible. ‘The use of SF6 gas instead of insulation ofl permits no possibility of fire-hazard. Elimination of electrical disturbances Being shielded in metal enclosures, the live parts do noz disturb in any way the operation of radio, telephone or other electronic equipment. Laborsaving maintenance and inspection Since all-the live parts are fully enclosed under. the condition of no oxygen, there is no aging decay in it. Hence, it can afford a drastic reduction of labor for maintenance and inspection.
