THE HISTORY
LA HISTORIA
From the beginning in late 1990, with the construction of our first prototype, LUCKY has
strived to constantly innovate and be at the forefront in the development of climbing
equipment. Many of our innovative solutions and ideas have been taken up by other
manufacturers and are today considered market standard.
However, the milestones of our evolution read like the history of modern climbing equip-
ment: first to introduce laser marking on our biners, first to introduce carabiners for attach-
ing wrist loops to technical ice axes, first to introduce the double security system (Guitar
System), first to introduce entirely flat biners from Zicral, first to introduce the “Loopy”
express sling preventing rotation of the biner in the sling, first to introduce the Telemaster
to prevent dangerous ground falls, first to introduce technical ixe axes made from laser-cut
aluminium sheets, and many more.
Today, just as when it all started out, our entire team of 29 committed professionals puts
their entire energy into making your adventures safer, providing intelligent solutions and a
dedication to flawless quality.
Desde nuestros inicios en 1990, con la construcción de nuestro primer prototipo, LUCKY ha
intentado estar a la cabeza del desarrollo e innovación en material de escalada. Muchas

MISSION MISIÓN
Sharing our passion for the mountains and the sensations they provide is our vocation. The
fundamental reason of our existence has been, and will be in the future, the obligation to
challenge what others consider as given with the aim of improving safety and design. Our
quest to identify the needs of today’s climbers, professionals and amateurs alike, and build
advanced climbing gear according to our philosophy: simplicity in design, while putting
safety and reliability first before introducing unnecessary features.
However, our team members are all not only talented craftsmen but many are hard
core climbers or even instructor trainers too. Naturally, our commitment to climbing and
mountaineering thus goes far beyond producing high quality equipment: embracing a
responsibility for the climbing community as well as the environment, we regularly support
projects and expeditions at local and international level.

Compartir nuestra pasión por la montaña y las sensaciones que produce es nuestra
vocación. La razón fundamental de nuestra existencia ha sido, y seguirá siendo en el

When it comes to pushing your (and our) limits, you should settle for nothing
less than the best. You’re worth it! Lucky carabiners are considered a reference
by many: High-tech aluminum alloys, manufactured specifically for LUCKY, allow
our biners to be among the toughest yet lightest on the market. The simple lines
of their geometry are the result of many years of experience and continuous
development, where stressing safety rather than unnecessary features has been
and will be the guiding principle.
All carabiners undergo a tough certification test by the TÜV Product Service
and many are certified for industry as well as recreational use. Since we
cannot break all carabiners to test their resistance values, we regularly test
representative samples of all production lots using the industry standard “3
sigma” level of confidence. Nevertheless, every single biner is individually
tested before leaving our facilities to become a valued piece of safety equip-
ment in your personal achievements somewhere in the world.
All biners, from the basic models to the top of the line models, are cold forged
and anodized for increased corrosion resistance and longevity.

The Guitar biner was in 1996 the result of an ongoing search for improving safety and
handle. It was a leapfrog evolution from the standard riveted gate with its innovative
double security system. It reaches an optimum balance between resistance, weight
and easy handling.
The Guitar System prevents accidentally snagging the biner in cloth or bolts when
clipping. The bent gate features our own ‘Ergoline’ geometry for improved rope
clipping.
The Guitar is the best choice climbing karabiner, from the ambitious beginners to
seasoned pros, not willing to compromise on anything.

The Easy Clip
Easy Clip straight / bent
This wiregate carabiner is the lightest in our range; for both the straight and the bent
gate, we use 2mm inox wire. Without adding lots of weight to your rack, they offer the
same safety as all our other biners with standard gates.
The Easy Clip carabiners are especially useful in subzero environments and when
reducing weight to the minimum is an issue. They offer 30mm opening of the gate
for better rope handling.

competitive climbers, wishing for even snappier closures and better handling. The
special balanced springs give highest precision and speed in closing and provide
for easy opening of the straight and bent gate. Friction grooves on the back of
the carabiner body prevent slipping and allow safer handling in demanding speed
situations. Ideal for indoor and competition climbing.

The distinctive colors, new for 2005, underline the geometry of our biggest classic.
The balanced spring of the anodized blue and grey gates makes the biners close with
radical speed. The straight gate sports vertical groves to allow secure handling in the

Our entry level karabiner sports the same geometry and features as the ‘Meteor’,
but with a silver anodized finish and polished gate. The straight gate sports vertical
groves along the axis of the gate to allow secure handling, whereas the bent gate
features our Ergoline curve, facilitating the clipping of the rope. The Meteor Basic
is the ideal companion, when stripping it down to economical but essential no-
nonsense gear are prime focus.

HMS lock / automatic
Reliable locking biner for belaying and securing, designed with a asym-
metrical pear shape to facilitate use of the ‘Italian Hitch’. 12 mm
aluminum bars are specifically shaped to reach the optimum balance
between strength and weight. The HMS comes in a screwlock version
and an automatic version. The automatic version opens and locks with
a twist of the spring-loaded safety latch, where our unique safety
mechanism can be manually blocked to prevent accidental opening.

The Austral
Austral lock
The ‘Austral’ is a smaller type of locking biner with a more oval geometry. It
is recommended especially for rescue operations and situations where you need
space for two ropes at each end. It comes in a standard screw lock and an
automatic (twist lock) version.

The Speleo
Speleo / Speleo lock
The oval shape of this biner makes it especially popular for use in caving, as
both ends give space for two ropes running. As all our other workhorses, it
uses 12mm diameter aluminium alloy for body and gate and it is anodized for
corrosion resistance, especially relevant in those humid and rough environments.
The locking version has a special screwlock that can also be opened and closed 39516 1000
with a hex wrench.
La forma ovalada de este mosquetón lo hace especialmente popular en espe-

leología, ya que ambos extremos dan espacio para dos cuerdas. Al igual que
los otros mosquetones, el cuerpo y el cierre de aleación de aluminio tienen

The Via Ferratas
Via Ferrata straight / lock / automatic / auto rapid

Karabiner specially designed and certified for use in via ferratas. Their
geometry allows a wide opening and optimally positions the biner in case of
a fall for increased safety. The VF-series are made in our special aluminium
alloy. We offer the Via Ferrata in four versions with different gates: The
‘straight’ gate offers easy opening and snappy closures, the ‘screw’ adds a
screwlock for extra security, the ‘automatic’ version features our own twistlock
mechanism for quick handling without risking accidental opening, and the
‘auto rapid’ is a springloaded closure for speed handling. ‘Via Ferrata straight’
is exclusively not certified for use in Via Ferrata activity because of not having
a lockable gate.

Orion lock / Orion automatic rapid / Orion spezial

The Orion Series is a unique type of biner, designed from 6mm aluminium
sheet. Regardless of it’s larger size, useful for a safe handling in via ferratas,
it remains very light. This specific design increases safety, because as a
force acts perpendicular to the normal working axis of the biner, it will not
pass its plastic limit, i.e. it will bend and not break. This makes it very
safe for use in the via ferratas and also very popular amongst our customers
from industrial safety.
The Orion comes either with a screwlock gate, the Auto Rapid gate, or as a
‘Spezial’ version with a automatic gate less likely to open incidentally.
La Serie Orion es un tipo único de mosquetón diseñado con láminas de alu- 39525 3000
minio de 6mm. Pese a su gran tamaño, resulta poco pesado y muy útil para

Simple, yet very robust express slings for all types of climbing. The ‘Loopy’ is an innovative sling that
features a rubber inlet that prevents rotation of the biner and allows more precise and angled clicking
in desperate situations. The reduced width of the tube webbing centers the forces in line with the
axis of the drawcord in case of a fall.

slings will be equipped with a protective safety sleeve which makes a rotation of the biner in the sling less
likely and thus increases safety.

Dynastop Set with Via Ferrata auto rapid / with Orion auto rapid
A new Via Ferrata set offering a high level of safety and satisfies
all the demands of climbing via ferratas. The Y construction is
equipped with two Via Ferrata’s or two Orion karabiners with
automatic locking gates. The brake-rope can be fixed with two
plastic clips at the harness to avoid a stumble over the rope. A
sling facilitates the securing of the set to the harness.

never comes easier than this. The ‘Daisy’ offers plenty of hooking options and a
twisted loop for clean fixing to your harness. Not suitable for belaying.

The evolution of mountain sports has lead to an ever accelerating development

Belaying is one of the most critical climbing skills because the safety of the
climber is at play. Most fatal accidents happen because of bad securing. We

Our range of Figure Eight belay devices are the simplest, yet the most
proven devices for belaying and rappelling. Their aircraft-quality, hot
forged aluminium bodies allow the use of single or double ropes of
any diameter. When used for belaying, they require a lot of attention
from the belayer and are recommended mainly for top-roping. In
rappelling they offer allow very efficient and smooth descents.

This award-winning, robust and functional descender is meant for
fixed ropes and sports great braking power of 9-11mm ropes. It is
appropriate for rescue operations and offers extra protection and con-
trol, especially, but not solely for beginners: by increasing pressure
on the handle, a second jamming position (anti-panic) is activated
which eventually stops the descent entirely when the pressure is high
enough.

The ‘Globus’, in its second generation for 2005 with an improved geom-
etry, is probably the most ingenious and simple multi-purpose device on
the market. It allows belaying of leader, second man as well as rappelling.
While belaying the second, it blocks the rope simply but effectively. It

The compact and flat shape of the ‘Bloc’ is ideal for climbing on
remounted single ropes, fixed at the chest. The spring loaded cam
blocks 8-13mm rope diameter very efficiently without damage,
while an accidental opening can be avoided by placing a karabiner
in the auxiliary hole. It can to be fixed to the harness with flat/tube
webbing or with a locking biner.
The ‘Shaft’ ascender is a more simple lefthanded version also

the aluminium wheel to operate very smoothly. The ‘Pulley twist’ is fully anodized for corrosion resistance.
‘Pulley twist light’ is a simpler but super lightweight pulley for climbing applications. As with its big brothers, both
pulleys have lateral parts that twist to insert ropes until Ø14mm (the‘Twist light’ until Ø11mm).

The ‘Telemaster’ is a little wizard that helps preventing dan-

bolted routes. We also stress its utility on multi-pitch, to mini-
mize the risk of factor 2 falls. At first sight, the ‘Telemaster’
looks like a normal trekking pole but it extends up to 2,75
meters! The ingenious ‘Joker’ can be fixed at the tip and
allows clipping a carabiner (with a open gate until clipped)
and rope to reach those first far away bolts.

Action Direct
Especially designed and developed for competition climbing and dry tooling, the
Action Direct is a radical change from conventional ice axe design. Built without
using tubular material, high power lasers cut the shaft from 6mm aluminium
sheets. This innovative process achieves a compact and lightweight design. To
this day, no other ice axe available has offered such high precision and torsion
resistance, while remaining balanced during swing and virtually without
any vibration. While most of the weight is centered in its head,

high-tech tool. The blow comes from the shoulder and
the replaceable, laser-cut pick displaces less ice than
conventional picks, it penetrates hardest ice with

The ‘Excalibur Extreme’ is the de facto standard in technical ice-axes: a
curved tubular shaft, laser cut pick with either a hammer or shovel (adze).
The modular, forged Zicral head and AL 7075 extruded shaft are finely
tuned for weight balance. They allow effortless swings and provide a solid,
damp feel when penetrating the ice. Combined with the ‘Extrem’ wrist
loop, a set like this makes anything possible.

As its brother ‘Extreme’, the ‘Ergo’ is a light, reliable tool that has
proven itself a favorite of alpine climbers who demand reliability and
performance. It features a modular head, lightweight aluminium shaft, and
our laser-cut steel pick whose aggressive lines deliver secure sticks in any
situation. The ‘Ergo’ is equipped with our ‘Convencional’ wrist loop and
doesn’t hit your budget nearly as hard as it can hit the ice.

The ‘Scorpio’ is a well balanced, semi-technical piolet for the most
difficult classic ascents in steep snow. It features a straight shaft from
AA 7075 tubing offering a design to provide perfect feedback but
little vibration when biting into the ice. The modular head-piece allows
replacement of the pick and the hammer/shovel (adze). Further, its
innovative design allows feeding of a climbing rope for securing. It is
equipped with our ‘conventional’ wrist loop.

In its second generation, the ‘Saturn Banana’ is a modern interpretation 39556 7100
of the traditional mountaineers piolet with a more aggressively shaped
pick. The ‘Banana’ sports a pick and adze made from a single piece of
steel without welding. A hole in the aluminium head piece holding the
blade, allows securing others in case of emergencies. It is shipped as
standard with the Rando wrist loop.

tools you might have. From the ergonomic ‘Extrem’ (with clipping carabiner and one-hand opening system) to the
‘Convencional’ (universal loop with wide wrist support) and the ‘Rando’ (light and comfortable), all wrist loops are
made from high quality webbing and can be fitted to virtually any tool.

Our super light ice screws from titanium are a modern classic and
virtually immune to corrosion. Their smooth surface allows easy
placement and prevents ice build up. The flat head is designed
to be hit for clearing ice from the tubing without being damaged.
The Titan 1700 has 6 biting teeth that effortlessly drive the screw
forward even in hardest ice without additional tools. The Titan
1000, smaller in diameter and length, features 3 sharpened teeth
for secure and easy placement.
Nuestros tornillos de hielo superligeros fabricados de titanio son

ya un clásico moderno y resultan prácticamente inmunes a la
corrosión. Su suave superficie permite una colocación fácil e
impide que se acumule el hielo. La cabeza plana está diseñada

Replacement and maintainance

Obviously, our ice axes and piolets have their natural habitat in snow
covered mountains and ice falls. But getting there and away, they should
be protected from damaging your other equipment by our Transport Bag.
Further, Latex pick protectors can prevent more damage to the things you
love. However, if parts of the axes and piolets need to be replaced, we
offer replacement parts for virtually all of them.
Obviamente, el mejor lugar para nuestros piolets son las montañas

nevadas y las cascadas de hielo. Pero para llegar hasta ahí deben
protegerse bien para evitar daños en el resto de tu equipo, de ahí que
sea oportuno guardarlos en nuestra Transport Bag y utilizar los protectores
de látex para el pico. Si tuvieras que recambiar piezas de tus piolets,
ofrecemos recambios para casi todos los modelos.
