Descriptions of Assessments/Assignment Outlines

Social Dimensions of Education and Introduction to Social Work

1. ATTENDANCE/ PARTICIPATION
All students in this course are encouraged to attend the class every day, as it is worth 10
% in total. Student who will be absent must be informed to the instructor one day in advanced
through message, in person or filling the leave form, and provide the MC, if being sick, when
come back for the class.
Without informing and providing the evidence, the percentage will be automatically
deducted as a result.

2. Weekly Assignment
All students are required to revise the lesson learned from the class and write a weekly
assignment based on the questions given by the class teacher. Each weekly assignment should be
200 – 250 words long to present in depth. Every week, the class teacher will post the assignment
questions on the Google Classroom with clear instructions and criteria in which students need to
understand and follow, and all students need to write and submit ONLY on the Google
Classroom (not any other means unless there is an acknowledged notice). Late submission will
be automatically penalized with a deduction of 1 % for each day after the deadline. The weekly
assignment is worth 15 % to every student.

3. Midterm Quiz
All students are required to take a midterm quiz in the middle of the semester. The quiz
questions will be designed based on the lessons taught and learned in the class. There will be
multiple choice questions, closed questions and opened questions. The date of the quiz will be on
23rd December, 2021 (Thursday). The quiz is worth 15 % to every student. The duration of the
exam will be 1 and half hour.
4. Group Assignment (Write Up)
Throughout this semester, students will be asked to write a group assignment based on
topic – Globalization and Education. Students will be grouped in THREE or FOUR. Students
are required to specifically include the characteristics of globalization that related to education,
describing how socio-cultural, environmental, economic, political, and equity issues affect
globalization and discussing the impact of globalization on the process and progress of
education.
Group Assignment Write-Up Criteria
 Introduce and present thesis statements of the assignment based on the topic.
 Present the characteristics of globalization that related to education
 Describe how socio-cultural, environmental, economic, political, and equity issues
affect globalization
 Discuss the impact of globalization on the process and progress of education
 Present what new insights you have learned from the above aspects
 Conclude the group assignment write-up
The group assignment write-up should be about 1400-1600 words long. The word count
merely serves as a guideline for the expected breadth and depth of group assignment paper write-
up.
The group assignment write-up is worth 20 %. Late submission of the project will be
penalized with a deduction of 1 % for each day after the deadline.
The FINAL submission of the group assignment write-up is on (10th February 2021:
Thursday).
Note: This group assignment should be submitted by email (NOT any other means), the
group representative will submit and indicate: group number, group members. Every
student is required to work, discuss and write together in order to obtain the same mark.

Format:
Please adhere to the following guidelines for your assignment
- Font : Times New Roman
- Font Size : 12
- Line Space : 1.5
- Page margins : 1-inch (2.54 cm) on all sides
- Page Number : Bottom Page, Centralized
- Citation style : APA format
NOTE:
You’re not allowed to copy any sentence from the resources exactly. If so, PLEASE cited them
with APA format. If not, your result would be penalized accordingly.
5. FINAL EXAMINATION
At the end of this course, all students are required to sit for the final examination. The
final examination questions will be designed based on what they have learned in the online
classes. The duration of the exam will be 2 hours.
*The Final Examination is worth 40 % to every student. The Final Examination date is 17th
February 2021 (Thursday).
