ELECTRICAL SAFETY AWARENESS


❑ Before starting the activities, discuss the scope of electrical works and the related permits, materials and
tools needed.

❑ Make sure all the related signed/approved working permits are available prior to start of the activity.

❑ Make sure the electrical testing instruments and devices used are functional and in normal working condition.

❑ Asset Pass Form shall be valid. Airside/Airport pass permit shall be valid and activated (by Ministry of Interior –
MOI).

❑ Materials and installations shall conform with the project specifications, international standards and local
regulations.

❑ Allow only competent person (electrician) to do the supply and installation works related to Temporary
Electrical Installation, being coordinated to / supervised by a competent Electrical Foreman / Engineer /
Person-in-Charge.

❑ The Electrician must be competent & have a valid 3rd party certificate.

❑ When doing excavation works for burying cables, close coordination to permit section to verify from them if
there are other existing services below the soil (e.g. HV/MV/LV/ELV, drainage, and water system)

❑ Prevent the Distribution Board from overloading. Use instruments / tester to check for overloading. Consult
electrical engineer for load study.

❑ Make sure that the competent electrician/s is/are aware of the location of the nearest fire extinguishers
available on that working area. Make sure that he/them is/are aware of what type of fire extinguisher he should
use in case of a fire incident scenario occurs.

❑ For external areas, if repair or maintenance is on-going, barricade or fence the area and follow the work
permit system. Disconnect or turn-off the power supply before doing repair and maintenance. It is necessary
for the competent electrician that he is aware about the standard operating procedures for the Lock-out /
Tag-out during service, maintenance or inspection activities.

❑ Make sure all Distribution Boards inspection labels are valid and updated.

❑ Inspect from any damages all the lighting fixtures, cables and wirings, wiring devices, isolators, industrial
plugs and sockets, and Distribution Boards and any other electrically supplied appliances related to the scope
of electrical maintenance. Report to electrical maintenance team for any needs of repair, replacements, or
maintenance from your area.

❑ Use appropriate personal protective equipment for the activity.
